Foxsports.com preseason power rankings...

Dang, I didn't know anybody had the Bills ranked in the top 5 ! This opener
may be even tougher than I've expected.

They sure are putting alot of trust in what is basically a rookie QB. But I guess with their D and McGahee, Losman doesnt have to do much. I really hope the line does better this year so the media will stop using that as an excuse.

how many of these pre-season power ratings turn out to be true? i wouldn't put much stock in buffalo being top 5. i mean look at the jags at 13 and cardinals at 15, when we're 22. does that seem right to you?

If the rankings are based on last years record plus off season improvements only, then I think we should at least be higher than the jags, cards, saints, rams and broncos. If they throw in schedule and division then maybe that changes things because I have not looked at all the schedules, but I think we should be better than the jags for sure. We get no respect.

Looks about right. If it's any consolation, we're ranked ahead of the pokes.
that article says we'll backslide slightly due to having the same O-line, and faster linebackers.

I have no clue as to why that guy thinks the identical O-line would play any worse... if anything they should stay the same or slightly improve.

For some reason he thinks our key to success would be slower linebackers? How does one get to be a sportswriter anyway?

Hmm, in the Bills you have a team built around a turnover machine on defense (ranked No. 2 overall in 2004), excellent special teams (five kick/punt returns for TDs last year) and an offense led by a young, mobile QB (second-year J.P. Losman) surrounded by a stellar group of runners and receivers ... all set in a football-crazy city in the Northeast. Sounds a lot like last year's Steelers. If Losman is this year's Roethlisberger, watch out.

Is that the best they can come up with for Losman, is that he's mobile?? Nothing about his arm strength, accuracy, decision making, poise in the pocket, or reading the defense?

This guy is a crackpot.
I don't necessarily disagree with his texans spot. There is alot to prove this season.

But at one point he moves one team down 4 spots citing the loss of offensive players and a questionable running game. Then moves one team up 7 spots, citing the loss of offensive players and a questionable running game.

:thumbdown

I think 14-15 is about right. Our O-line cant get any worse than it was last year and can only get better. The speed on D will cause more turnovers. Besides, Foremen and Sharper were liabilities in coverage anyways.

I think the Texans should be right around #20.

LOL the Jags are ranked way, way, way too high. Last year was a flukey season and they will return to their 6-10 ways this year.

The Bills are a strong team but not strong enough to be ranked #5. There is no way in hell they should be ranked above Pittsburgh.

The Patriots are ranked #1, fine it must be out of respect (superbowl) because they lost a lot of players and key coaches. Fair enough. But I think that Pittsburgh should be given similar respect coming off a 15-1 season.

Raiders are too high at #18.

Packers should be higher than 24th.

i find it offensive that you that tampa will be the worst team in the league.....cadillac williams, michael clayton, and a beast like defense......20ish maybe, but i will bet my soul that they dont fare worse than miami or tennessee or san francisco...be realistic now

Ok, fire away! :bomb:

It would be tough to fire on your Porky because your list looks pretty good.

Honestly though I care much less about where the sports writers are ranking us now than I do about where they rank us at the end of the year. Preseason rankings are based on smoke, mirrors, hype, and lies. Nobody knows anything in July-August.

That Fox ranking has the Texans behind several teams who i really dont think are better .... the Jaguars , Cardinals , Lions , Aints ....errr Saints and Bengals .
The Bills at 5 with a Rookie QB ? Losman isnt Ben Roethlisberger .... They may be a solid team but putting them ahead of the Steelers , Ravens and Falcons with a Rookie QB is .... someone's idea of a joke . :pigfly:

After looking this over i give the writer of the column very little credibility :goodnight

How Big Ben's stock has risen since 2 QBs were taken before him in the draft! This is a good example of the draft being a crap shoot of sorts - until Pittsburgh was forced to play him, even Ben Roethlisberger wasn't Ben Reothlisberger, if you know what I mean.

Yeah , who woulda expected Reothlisberger to play as well as he did ... that was a dream season for a rookie QB .....that was an only in the movies kinda year accept the Steelers didnt win it all :tv:

Im pretty high on Losman myself , i just dont see that kinda season outa him . He has an O-line that is pretty good a very capable running back who carries a chip on his shoulder and at least one capable reciever in Lee Evans .....Not to mention he has good speed a good arm and doesnt make a lot of mistakes ....but #5 in a pre-season poll for whats basicly an offense with a player with very little NFL experience is a stretch .
