Forget LT, how about Darren Sproles?

Why not go after Darren Sproles in Free Agency? The Texans could use a guy like him in the backfield as a compliment to Slaton. He can catch and run very well, and would seem like a good fit for the Texans O. Thoughts?

Height 5-6
Weight 185 lbs.
Age 26
Position RB
Experience 5 years
College Kansas State

Chargers do not tender Sproles

*sorry if there's a thread about this already, I didn't see one

Sproles has better longterm potential for us than LT does. I think he'd be a good pick up.... but I still wouldn't want to pay him Top 5 RB money!

We really need an every down back, but it would be a definite spark to our offense and Special Teams, Andre Davis wasn't very good on KR last season.

Depends on what we have to pay him, he would fill in nicely if Slaton wasn't able to suit up next year.

So San Diego will definitely be going RB in round 1?

I would take him as a 3rd down back and KR so whatever $ value you place on that guy is what we should pay, nothing more.

We still need a solid every down back you can tote the rock and another guy who can handle short yardage and goaline

I pretty much agree here.

I'm a big fan of Sproles. Would love to bring him in over LT for sure. That wouldn't solve our RB problem though. We would still need a short yardage back.

Isn't Slaton more or less the same kind of back as Sproles ? Not quite as elusive or quick, but still a guy who's best in space who can be the Texans
3rd down specialists or one of the 2 backs in a back-set. I know there's definite questions about Slatons health, but I doubt they are ready to throw the towel in on Steve just now by paying big bucks for FA Sproles ?

Hell bring in Sproles or LT and Lendale White then draft Spiller in the First, Trade next years 1st for Dwyer or Mathews (your choice) and pickup Blount late in the draft and bring in every UFA RB that will sign with us we dont have to worry about this BS next year.

The master plan?

Do we run wishbone now? Our masterplan is to have 18 RB's and nothing else? Hell, we have 4 tight ends, we can field them all at the same time and just flood over people. Trade for VY, so he could just win games behind 400 yards of rushing a game. Super Bowl baby.

He gone!

According to San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers have surprisingly decided to place a first- and third-round tender on free agent Darren Sproles.

Sproles had been informed last week that he would not receive a tender, allowing him to test the market. GM A.J. Smith apparently had a change of heart after seeing the buzz around Sproles as a coveted free agent expected to draw $5 million per year. The Bolts' tender offer comes with a $7.27 million salary while removing the best free agent running back from the market. Sproles was expected to visit the Chiefs, Rams, Eagles, and Redskins in the coming days.
