For Those Who Can't Wait: Capers Gone

Resident Grouch
Just announced on ESPN that Texans players have confirmed that Capers has been fired.
Guess Capers had a team meeting before the official announcement, scheduled at three pm, and some of the players have discussed it with outsiders.

PS One of those mentioned as his replacement has his team playing right now on espn. Iowa coach Ferenz (sp)

We all knew it was coming, it's still kind of sad, he was our first ever coach and is a class act, I wish him well wherever he goes.

I guess they make McKinney talk cause he must be good for something?

LOL. And I guess his quotes to the Chronicle are better than his neverending Blue-Crush-and-mayo-packet airplane stories every Tuesday morning during the 2003 season.

well we got what we wanted... I dont really feel as GOOD about it as i did when PALMER was let go. I would rather have seen caserly go. Or keep capers around in some other position. Oh well ON TO 06' :trophy:

Ever since Dom Capers started getting rid of some of our important veterans I was beginning to question whether or not he'd be around much longer. I used to say I wanted him to stick around and possibly be a defensive coordinator. Does the name Aaron Glenn ring and bells? Don't even get me started on PB! I just hope he imporves a lot next season.

I wish Capers all the luck he is a classy man and a good cordinator, I hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

Now that he is gone its time for everyone to put the soap away. Fire Capers Club dismissed and disband.

HOUSTON - Dom Capers has been fired as coach of the Houston Texans, who had the NFL's worst record this season, the players were told Monday.

Capers addressed the team at a meeting Monday morning and told players he had been let go. He was accompanied by owner Bob McNair, several players said.

"It was emotional. It was difficult. I felt sorry for him," said offensive lineman Steve McKinney.

The Texans will retain general manager Charley Casserly, a person close to the organization told The Associated Press on Sunday. The Texans planned to make the announcement officially Monday, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Houston finished the season 2-14, the worst record in the NFL and in the Texans' four-season history, with a 20-17 overtime loss in San Francisco on Sunday.

Was the 3rd thread really needed?

He's one of the few who doesn't mumble, so he can be understood, and he can string three sentences together without sounding like he's illiterate. It's not like he has a lot of competition there.

Don't worry they will be, this is just the first domino

wow, im watching the florida-iowa outback bowl right now, and well, id prefer to not be getting the coach of the team who's getting their asses handed to them. unless we want more of the same....sounds like fun guys.

They leave with Capers... I think I saw they were out as well, written somewhere....

... currently shopping for a new avatar.....

You know Mcnair is a classy owner, not only did he handle this like a man, face to face, but he also allowed Capers to have one final talk with his players, before releasing this to the press. Class, unlike the vikings owner.

McNair is a class act and I am sure he is feeling pretty bad about having to fire Capers. There is no doubt that Capers is one of the classiest men in sports. I am shocked that this team did not quit at all during this horrible season. That is a testament to Capers and his staff. That being said, it was time to make this change. Good luck Dom. I hope you end up as a coordinator in the NFC...

I hope this is true wheere ever you saw it written, but when capers leave his coachs leave with him, if this is true then i dont want o whats his name our speacial teams coach gone stats with a M. haha well i dont want him gone it seems to me the special teams was the only part of this team that gave a crap.

I also wish Coach Capers the best of luck in his new position. Given all the respect he has around the league, it doesn't sound like it will be long before he's hired by another NFL team as its Defensive Coordinator.

He is a class act and good man. I wish him nothing but the best.

There are rumors that he will become the Defensive Coordinator for the Giants because he has worked with Tom Coughlin before.

The Giants already have a pretty darn good Defensive Coordinator in Tim Lewis who might become a head coach at the end of the season.

Anyways, I hate to see Dom go, he is always a man who lives up to the music he plays. I mean, he showed up evert Monday to his regular talk show no matter how bad we got beat, lived up to all the media when they questioned his job, and still coached his heard out yesturday when he knew it would be his last game and again today talking to the players one final time to tell them the news. That shows a lot about his character, and it reflected on this football team. I just wished he would have showed that character some on 4th down decesions earlier in the season.

Now its time to move on. I know Dom will get a great job somewhere and he deserves one. I hope this team gets a great young talented coach to lead them in the right direction.
