I guess we had to turn back into typical Houston fans eventually, right? Lose 2 games due to turnovers and cry that it's all because of the coaching. When your star RB's coughing up the ball and the points off those turnovers are the margin of victory, it's NOT JUST THE COACHES.

If we didnt like the Texans so much, why would we be so upset about a loss? Id be more worried about a fan like you who doesnt get fired up when his team goes out and turns the ball over and plays with no passion or intensity and loses 2 very winnable games.texansfan88 said:

I felt ok blaming the Chargers game on turnovers but not this game.
We are a bad team. Period. We may have taken a step backwards this season and if that is the case, the coaching staff may need to go.
offense - "D" - 16 points against a bad team, pathetic first half, 3 more turnovers and there should have been at least 5 more
defense - "F" - had a couple of good series but we got whipped by a rookie receiver and gave up 21 points to a bad team
special teams - "F" - automatic F for giving up a TD
coaching - "F" - I lost respect for Capers when he failed to bench Davis after the second fumble. I think Capers will be gone the moment a real coach is on the market.
we absolutely deserve to be 0 and 2, and until we prove otherwise, we may be the worst team in the league. blaming this game on turnovers is short-sighted.

Nerf Herder yes we can blame the coaches...i understand that capers is a run first coach...which is fine...but when the obvious weakness to the lions defense is pass coverage and you don't attack that and when your down by more than 2 touchdowns and your still running the ball you can blame the coach...we do a great job of moving the ball but when your down in the fourth quarter running the ball should be thrown out...i mean come on if johnson can catch a 54yd touchdown pass why not try it three or four times a game

This is a good example of a hometown troll, who knows the solution to our problem yet can't manage to tackle elementary spelling and grammar. Someone who thinks that the first 2 weeks of the season are indicative of the remaining 15.

Make no mistake...there absolutely are some problems in the coaching decisions being made by the Texans. Anytime a team REPEATEDLY gives up huge gains on 3rd down after playing well on the first two downs (hence the 3rd-and-long!), something's up. And I think Capers would have more credibility as a no-nonsense coach if he would've applied the same policy to Davis that he did to Mack last year: you fumble the ball twice, you sit down. It would've given us a chance to let Hollings give him a break and fumble it in Davis' place awhile. (Just kidding...)
But this offense IS generating yards. Carr's one of the top-ranked passers this week again. The scheme's got problems, but firing the coach or coordinator after week 2 wouldn't do anything but make us worse. Addressing these turnovers and penalties has to be the #1 priority for Palmer. Without Davis' fumbles, we control the clock and win both these games.
Guys, let's not turn this franchise into Arizona or Chicago, where they change coaches as often as Aggies change underwear. This staff has assembled some real talent, and they deserve a chance to salvage this season.

Are coach is horrible it isn't hard to tell what plays we were going run, our offense is so predictable, don't get me wrong im a big Domanick Davis fan, but you don't run 2 plays n then throw it on 3rd down when we have 4 explosive wide receivers thats just bad play calling

I suspect given Capers tendencies that the other team is loading up the box looking for DD. That in fact makes it much more likely that you are going to have a fumble. When you are on the 15 yard line (10 + CP's false start) and make no attempt at the end zone, tells you every thing you need to know. We were behind at that point in time. I would also say, at the end of the game, kick a field goal and then you still have time to go for the TD with an onside kick. Why waste time trying to score. Take the certain score with Chris and try your on side kick. If it fails you might still stop them defensively. You have to have another possession anyway. We have an awful lot of offensive potential and we are doing nothing to take advantage of it. Capers has tunnel vision and can only in vision the run. When you run the ball you generally have to have three runs in a row to make the 10. With the pass you only need to make 1 out of 3. In fact that's what happened with Harrington a number of times. It was strike one, strike two, oh wow, home run. Oh, and Yes, fire the entire coaching staff.

Capers has another big problem. He wants to employ an offense based on having a big durable dominating back. He doesn't have that in DD. What he has is a potentially dominating arial attack with a back who can make a H*** a lot of yardage when the other team begins to look for the pass rather than the run. Talent wise this team would look much better running a West Coast type of offense. We need to think pass 1st, then run. Later in the 2nd half DD did well when they were looking for the PASS. What Capers wants is not what he has. He seems to be incapable of adjusting. As much as I dislike Parcels, his 1st comments when he reached Dallas were to the affect you have to look at what you have and do the best you can with what you have. You have to adapt to what your players can do best, not what you can do best.
400 plus yards total offense. Ive never seen the Texans move the ball so well between the red zone. Ive also never seen so many turn overs at critical times. Why stop running when your gaining big chunks of yards. Everybody knew Vince Lambardis Breen Bay Packers right sweep was coming too. He used to say, "So lets see you stop it!" The fact is every time the Texans gain big yardage or make a momentum changing play they do something to screw it up with stupid mistakes and turnovers. The O-Coach doesnt fumble and the D-coach doesnt get a roughing the passer penalty to nulify an interception. The secondary coach doesnt face guard a receiver while he is trying to catch the ball. These are pro-bowlers making mistakes folks. They already know how to play the game.

The talent is there. But the players truly look undisciplined. Watching the sidelines, the players & coaches .. did you see anyone looking like they even cared what was happening. Capers was daydreaming.. staring and taking his notes as always, Carr was grinning ... guess it was that funny!
If the main players of the organization don't care, why should anyone else..
If you want to watch intense pro football ... tune into one of the other games.
I don't know if the Texans can hit a lower low then they are at right now.
Guess we'll find out as they muddle thru the season.

Bad coaching is sometimes a valid argument, but not when it comes to coughing the ball up 4 times and a 3 year vet. having 2 false starts in one game. The bottom line is that if Davis hangs on to the ball we're 2 - 0 and none of these Fire Coach X. comments exist.

Some of this criticism just sounds foolish. Two weeks ago everyone admitted there would be growing pains and most of the board agreed that the beginning of the season would be rough. I'll admit I didn't expect anything this bad but give it a rest. It's one thing to criticize the coaches and players and I am all for people expressing their opinions, but it's another to just babble on about how "they all suck, fire them all" after week two.
This team is built around winners and the fact that the losses were due to lack of discipline and not a lack of talent tells me they will get this thing turned around. These guys won't like being at the rock bottom of the NFL for long and they will be out to prove to the NFL that they can and will overcome these setbacks.

I've seen the "Caper note taking" brought up a few times... I believe I heard or saw somewhere that's his play selection sheet (though not as big and colorful and laminated like other coaches)... but he keeps his notes on it as to what worked, what didn't and the results of the play. These notes to be used during the rest of the game for future plays.
I'd rather see the calmness of a leader (coach / QB) than one that screams on the sidelines, gets rattled, and throws objects around.... that was a bit extreme I guess, but not sure if that's what some of you are looking for.

what can you say about the last coaching fiasco? i have seen little league football teams better prepared than the texans were sunday. if any of the coaches cashes their weekly paycheck they should be charged with fraud. i went through a great deal of grief to make sure i would be in texas to see the first two games. i thought only the oilers could break my heart so easily. i stand corrected. my fault for thinking maybe this "houston football team" would be a little different. the approach taken by the coaching staff was disgraceful and not even worthy of an amateur effort.

Please step off the bandwagon immediately. We don't need this kind of fan anyways. The approach in both games have been managed well by the coaching staff. Our offense got into the redzone, our players fumbled or threw ints. You can't blame a coach for that. If we don't fumble and actually put the ball in the endzone, you would see a totally dominant offensive Houston Texans machine.

Although I have been a little critical of some of the game plans/schemes/ and various calls on both sides, the bottom line is that if the offense hangs on to the rock, we are at least 1-1, and perhaps 2-0. The coaches aren't on the field when that happens. There's enough blame to spread around among the players, coaches, and front office for the 0-2 start. To pin it all on the coaches, without any analysis, comes accross as a knee jerk, troll like post. Come back if you can add anything of substance to your rant.

There has to be a reason why we are sucking up the field on Sunday's, I think it is the coaching staff, with all the talent we have we should put some W's into the standings sheet. It may be Capers, may not be Capers, but something needs to change one way or another.
Look at the bottom of this list and you will find your answer. http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-TURNOVERS/2004/regular?sort_col_1=9 The coaching staff isn't fumbling and throwing interceptions. There's a reason why 4 of the bottom 6 teams on that list are all 0-2. In some cases (like Miami) turnovers are only part of the problem. In our case, we are at least 1-1 and maybe even 2-0 without the turnovers.

Well at least I support my team 365 days a year, in the offseason, no matter if they go 0-16, no matter how bad the team is doing. I don't come here like "some people" who come here only when the going gets rough, who act like they could run the team better themselves, ***** and moan, then start threads like "FIRE EVERYONE", "FIRE PALMER", "CUT CARR", then disappear until things start looking good again.
