So, for whatever reason they didn't get EB. They got a guy Watson likes (said he did).

McCown is the HC in 2yrs if Watson leaves or we don't get to the playoffs

Maybe he turned them down or the FO would have made too much of a stink out of it per fear of the backlash. Pick doesn't make any sense, especially for a new GM just getting started if it was really his choice.

Just because you've never heard of him doesn't make him a nobody. He's been in the NFL a long time and was part of Reid's staff longer than EB has been and the last two years was on the Raven's staff with Harbaugh. I don't know if he will be a good HC or not but he is far from a nobody.
