Ferguson on TV

Virginia vs. VT is on TV right now, I dont know about yall, but D'Brickashaw looks like a really tall linebacker, havent seen anything real good from him, or anything really bad either. How good is the RDE for VT?

Did you see that smaller VT DE just bull rush him? Ferguson is athletic and long, but I doubt he will be a difference maker his first couple of years.

Ok, now I got some info on Tapp: Pre-Season All-American, and canidate for every award a DE can get. Not only that, but he is rated as the #4 DE in the country.

D'Brickashaw is doing a great job now that I know the matchup.

Ferguson will be a very good player, but after seeing that play we need to look at him more before we think of drafting him with a top 5 pick as other have mentioned.

He is definately not our man. We can do just as good in the 2nd round with an OL, but first, we have to address our RB position... R Bush

Explain to me why he is not our man, looks good to me. If your going to make a statement like that, back it up.

Ferguson has been playing well besides that one play in which Tapp got by him. But Tapp is a great player and has been getting by everyone all season. That does not make Ferguson a bad player and not deserving of our #1 pick. That is like saying that Matt Leinart doesn't deserve to be a top pick because he threw an interception or that Reggie Bush doesn't deserve it because he fumbled once.

Completely agree with that, He looks like a stud to me, but I would love to see him add some more bulk, looks a little skinny, but he is still young, so he has plenty of time.

The guy is an absolutely amazing athelete for his size and dimentions.
He looks like a big, giant version of Vince Young playing OL- he's all legs and
arms! But the quickness - he must be an unbelievable power forward, or would
be if he doesn't now play basketball. And I don't that DE beat him earlier, the
QB bolted the pockett (ala DC), and the DE veered way inside. No I'd not seen him before, but now that I have can understand what the excitement is about. Also can see why some would be concerned about him as a run blocker - he might get pushed around a bit by some of the big NFL tackles.

He just mauled Tapp, I think he was called for holding on the play, but he drove Tapp into the ground and then laid on top of him.

I like what I see.:texflag:

Yes...Let's have TWO RBs with huge contracts...

2 plays and he just run blocked perfectly, one resulted in a 10+ yard gain where he pulled and blocked up the middle, the next play he blocked to the outside resulting in a TD.

Guys a keeper, Im sold!!!!!

Ferguson may very well turn out to be a very good player. His value will be skewed because of his enormous potential. However, the Texans have gotten burned to date on two of their five 1st round picks by looking at potential. We need guys that come in an contribute right away.

In my opinion Gallery was a much better prospect than Ferguson.

So, your telling me that every lineman we have is better than Ferguson. Why in the world would we draft a OL if our line is so much better? That is a ignorant statement, of course DF is better than what we have, he will start right away unlike Travis Johnson and Vernand Morency.

I watched a Senior LT get bull rushed by a smaller top caliber college player. I also saw that same LT get a holding call on 3rd down agaisnt the same DE.

I also watched our LT last week do a great job against the best DE in the NFL.

Where is the ignorance you ask? What does the 15th pick and a third round draft pick have to do with Ferguson who is being projected as a top 5 pick for our most glaring need?

1 Linemen is not gonna make or break us. We need help every where. I never said he is terrible or anything like that. BUT, our need is a rb right now that is of class and an all-pro player. DD is not this player. We have a chance to get one in RBush and must take him. We cannot pass on this caliber of a running back out of the draft. If the Texans drafted smart, they would have taken an OL in the 2nd round of every draft and we would be deep in quality OL right now and would not have this problem...

But also what I am saying, our O-Linemen are not that bad. Sure, they had some terrible games, don't get me wrong. But you cannot shuffle them around and expect everyone to perform like a Pro-Bowler. Leave them alone and let them season togeather and we will have one of the top lines in the league if not the best. Sure, we can always use more back-ups, but not with the top pick in the draft. We have only 2 choices right now, do we take Leinart or Bush? IMHO we take Bush now and watch the whole team turn around from 1-15 season to the playoffs. Don't say it can't be done either....
I remember Dallas was horrible till they got a certain rb named Smith... Where did that take em???? To the big dance and beyond..........

Davis is 10th on the team when it comes to the Cap at 3.8 mill for 2006. Would not necessarily call it huge.

Well, you have to pay him 3.8 and Bush at least 6.5, theres what....1/8th your cap for two players WHO PLAY THE SAME POSITION.

Then CUT DD... Plain and simple.... Next argument...

Absorb the cap hit, add more salary from the roster spot he voids to add an unproven player when DD has given you his guts and some decent production over the years?? LOL come on man.

What has he proven? I am 50 years old and out of shape, but give me the ball 500 times a season and I will get over 1000 yds. We need someone who can get 1500 to over 2k a year and don't say it can't be done/

Take a long look at what Dallas did after they grabbed Smith, whom people said the same thing about as you are saying right now about Bush..

Davis was 11th in the NFL in rushing last year.He had 1700 total yards. Which was what...6th in the league?? Are you seriously wanting numbers better than those in the Houston offense with the Houston Personnel?

Reggie Bush isn't going to get 1500 to 2000 yards when he only can carry the ball 10-15 times a game.

and you know this to be a fact how? You think for 1 minute we will have the same coach next year with the same old plays????? Give me a break....

Because he doesn't have the body to carry the ball 20 times per game. If he can't do it in college, what makes you think he can do it in the NFL.

Umm it cant be done, Give me a running back who averages 1500 yards EVERY year?? Sure backs can get 1500 yards in a year but not every year, thats ridiculous.

Tapp is the same guy who played against Winston in the Miami game, if anyone has these two games and is willing to compare the differances, it will go a long ways toward determening how they will fare in the NFL against top competiton.

You are serrioulsy comparing Emmitt Smith and Reggie Bush? Just becasue they are in simillar situations dosnt mean they are simillar. Yes, Reggie Bush has incredible skills, but he is working in the perfect offensive system (great o-line, great wrs, good qb). DD had as many yds from scrimmage as LaDannian Tomlinson last year, you would think that is enough to connvince some people, but others jsut think that if you dont run a 4.3 40, you cant be a RB in the NFL!

Guess what, Emmitt Smith was never the fastest guy on the field either...

God Bless you.

Thats one person tonight!

What about talking to the Bears about Cedric Benson. I think they could use a QB. We switck 1st and also get Benson. They have a good back and can get out of Benson's contract. Benson would be our 1500+ runner.

Thats an odd approach that would never happen. The bears are set on benson and Orton.

lol... I swear, sometimes people just dont get it. It dosnt matter how fast you can run a 40 yd dash if two steps after you take a handoff you get hit by a 300 lb defensive tackle because your line sucks!!!:brickwall

I am just going to assume you are not reffering to me. I am against bush, and my posts should reflect this view.

my draft stratagy is this:
Draft the best player at the position you NEED the most.

Mork I like that, but maybe about the 8th pick that way we trade down maybe twice and snatch a slew of picks so we can add talent and depth
