Fan Outreach to Texans in San Antonio!!!!(please sticky)

Texans Rising
Great news Texans fans!!!!!!

It is a great time to be a Texan fan in San Antonio. The Houston Texans are actively seeking to reach out to the Texans fans in San Antonio and South Texas. The organization is working extremely hard to regain its foothold here in San Antonio.

For those of you who don’t know the Texans were taken off the radio airwaves in San Antonio and that meant the permanent tie we had to the team was severed. If you were a Texan fan and the Texans were not on TV you were forced to pay for the Sunday ticket or go to sports bars just to see Texans games. Prior to last year, you could listen to complete pre and post game coverage of the Texans on Ticket 760, this was useful to us here in SA because the Texans were pulled off the local affiliate on a regular basis. However, last year we did not have that luxury. For whatever reason, the Texan broadcasts were pulled and replaced with out of market games for team that no one in Texas would care to follow. The Texans realized this and made efforts to establish a new home for the Texans, but due to the events following Hurricane Ike the Texans were (understandably ) forced to allocate resources to within the organization and to the city of Houston. We here in San Antonio thank them for doing so and one year later cheer for the city of Houston to get back on its feet.

2009 is a different story. The Texans are planning some exciting things for the fans in San Antonio and South Texas. They are in contact with other radio stations in an effort to bring the Texans back to the airwaves on TV and Radio. They are in contact with local retailers in efforts to increase Texans merchandise and make it more available to us here in San Antonio. Also they have plans to initiate fan outreach events in the San Antonio area. These events include watch parties for the games not on the air in SA, training camp events and more……..(Trust me Texans fans there are things in the works that are going to be big!!!!) Stay tuned and keep checking this thread out for further details……

This is all great news for Texans fans here in SA, but we need to help the Texans in their efforts of penetrating the market in this area. I encourage you to keep up your pressure on local media outlets to cover the Texans. Also, we may need to start a petition to show the stations here that there are Texans fans here in San Antonio…stay tuned for details.

The Battle Red Revolution is under way…….Go Texans!!!.

The first event we have coming up is training camp. The Texans have made available training camp tickets to the fans here in San Antonio. There are plenty of tickets available for all of the open practices at training camp.(even the night one) If you are interested in going by yourself or in a group let me know through pm or on this thread and I will contact you on how you can get the tickets. (they are free)

As of now this offer is available to the fans in the San Antonio area only. Austin fans contact me and I will find out how you can get tickets to camp.

This is an exciting opportunity for us to check out training camp and I am excited the Texans gave us this opportunity.

Let the Battle Red Revolution Begin!!!!!!!

I am slightly confused. While I respect what the Texans are doing for other cities in Texas, is this common among other teams in the NFL? Being from Nashville, I know that the Titans do not do statewide outreach like the Texans are being expected to do. This is all new to me.

What the hell?

I'm happy for you guys but what about Austin?

Keep the fight!
If you need them in Austin, pm me and I will find out how you can get them.

Traditionally the Texans have done fan outreach in the summer prior to camp. The out reach included player apperances and mechandise and was done in cities outside of Houston in order ro raise support for the Texans. Last year they were not able to do it in the summer and in the fall the event was postponed due to Ike.

This year they are starting a grass roots effort to mobilze fan support. There is going to be a coordinated watch party training camp tickets and some really big things this season.

I have been banging on them for years and I am excited that they are doing somethings for us fans outside of Houston.

(mods can you fix word order in title?)

Keep fighting the good fight, spurstexanstros, but I'm like Nitro in that I'm still not seeing a damn thing here in Austin from the Texans FO even though we have been the most vocal (at least to my knowledge).

This topic is both encouraging and maddening in that my fellow Texan fans are getting some help from the FO in San Antonio but yet we in Austin have been ceded to be Cowboy country.

That's showing them Houston Texans. lah-le-da.

From I was told they are working on it. Its the stations in Austin and San Antonio that are resisting. Its gonn have to be a grass roots effort, I think . The organization is helping us now.
What about Corpus?! :bat:
If no one from San Antonio takes them I will make sure my south texas friends get them. The more interest we show them the more I think they will reach out to San Antonio and South Texas.
Keep banging on them, hoss!
I am trying...my next step is a petition signed by everyone i meet to show...Yes virginia...there are texans fans in San Antonio.

Roc do you still have friends and family here that like the Texans? Cause I think the Texans are going to put together some good stuff for fans from here.
If you ...or any Texan fan knows anyone that is a Texan fan get them on here or on main site and we can start to gather Texan fans here in SA. Same goes for Austin and Corpus. Its time to organize....long live the Battle Red Revolution.

The stations say NY calls the shots, something I doubt to a certain degree although I could see how that works. Do you have any proof of that, just out of curiosity?

Dude, you better be there to jump in that douche Nick Taylor's (or whatever) face and punch his little girlfriend side kick, Billy Joe Jim Bob - if they try to jack with any Texans fans. :bat:

I got an email two years ago from the Texans, The stations have the right to first refusal. It is left up to them late in the season wether or not to go away from in Market games. A good example is the Austin stations showing the titans games because they were pissed at the organization that didnt draft Vince. that was not NY making the call it was the TV station in Austin doing it.

Its he said , she said argument. When you ask the stations they say it was NY and when you ask the team they say the stations. I dont know how you disprove either.

That is why I am hoping to have large numbers for one of our gatherings. In the event he shows up...he experiances the Battle Red Revolution.....the good side...hey we arent Cowboy fans.

Tell every one you know in SA...find me. I want to show the Texans and Tv stations that there are fans here.

Cool. I still think I'm on some kind of list at KEYE both my ph # and e-mail. This year I'll use another e-mail...lol. Man I would have some loud conversations with them after they said it was NY.

cool deal...I look forward to meeting you....hmmm maybe I will bring Tony Parker along.

I am kind of baffled too!
We really had a markeing war going here with KEYE ( local CBS ) and even with the radio stations. I personally went to the station once ot talk with Jon Madani about this when they started the new ESPN radio here currently 1530 am. In fact now that they have Erin Hogan they talk Texans all the time.
We have had some good Texans trips here, once it was called the Texans Outreach tour and I have a big Miller Banner from that, other times were themed differently. In fact one year much of me fllow Blue Crew were here to help show some support. Now granted they were not always a success but none the less I do know it made a differnence. Heck once I followed the caravan to 3 of the 4 stops they made here in Austin.
What I don't understand is why they don't do Austin, SA, Corpus, etc. and try to gain more of that lost fan base they once had.

Is he still there!?!? I knew he was back but haven't spoken to him in a long time. In the late '80's we were tight. Most nights and all weekends we chased women all over Austin. Obviously we lost touch (he took a job in Memphis, we each got married...etc) but I would like to talk to him about this. He were always on the best of terms with each other. Who knows? He might even tell me the truth on some things even if he isn't there anymore. Perhaps especially if he isn't there anymore.

I hate to jerk the thread back to topic but, I have training camp tickets for those who need it for the San Antonio and South Texas area. SA Austin even Corpus hit me up. They are free. They were sent for SA fans, but if they drag their feet I will give them to fans in our area willing to go. C'mon SA fans show your support.

So, just out of curiosity. How many Texans games were broadcast in San Antonio on TV last year? I would hope the first game against The Jets would be this year.

Early season games are..its late in the season or when there is conflict with cowboys game because of fox game.

I am not sure when first watch party is but I am sure its going to be one of the times there is a conflict.

I got mine. I appreciate you sending them out to me. I'm going to enjoy going to all the practices thanks to you and HOU-TEX who sent me some as well.

Done.

I can't take advantge of the tickets, but the man is working hard...lol.

Ok guys I will open up the tickets to anyone who needs them. The SA and Austin area has had plenty of time to get training camp tickets. So If anyone on the boards needs tickets pm me before I leave SA tomorrow at noon so I can tell you how to find me at sat and sun training camp session.

Fellas...and ladies! I am new; I am late; and I am sorry. But I am here now, and I'm here to stay! I look forward to watch parties, bar gatherings, group hugs,...whatever/anything Texans. I am Stu and I wear the colors proudly. Glad to be onboard.
One small suggestion: Let's stop paying so much attention to that urban hick transplant from Jerryland that clogs Ticket760's airwaves. He and his bubble ars showermate are not worth mention, time, or trouble! To borrow from Cedric The Entertainer..."I wish they would [show up to a Texans event here in the Alamo City!]" We'll deal with them then. Until then,...unite.
Where's the first meet? My house is available. I just need to send the wife and kids shopping and we're good to go :gathering:

I'm workin' on a pic tomorrow.
PEACE!

well said and welcome, I just got back from training cam pand back to the ole grind at work.. but I am still buzzing.

I believe that our first watch party will be for the monday night preseason game at one of the Buffalo Wild wings. more details to come. what will do at that game is tellyou whata the texans are doing in the area and what to expect for watch parties during the season.

Also I am creating a petition for all you Texans fans in the SA and Austin areas to sign , so that the Texans can show the media outlets that there are Texans fans in the area.

Stay tuned for further details.

Just so everyone one in the SA area knows...Ticket 760 is not the only sports radio station in town. There is now ESPN 1250 the zone. www.1250thezone.com They have two local shows. "Bringin' It" with Paul Alexander is t he "Texan Friendly" show. This show starts at 12 and runs till 3pm. Yes it is about 90 percent Cowgirls talk during the football season. But Paul will talk Texans with those who call in. He has started doing 1 Texans segment on Mondays. I know that isnt much at all, but compared to what we are used to its better than nothing. He does admit to more and more people emailing and calling in asking to talk more Texans..so call in guys! Paul is a knowledgeable football guy and seems to respect the Texans organization. The number to the staion is (210)656-espn. The other show "The Chris and Jason show" starts at 3pm is 99.9 percent cowgirl talk. They are funny guys for the most part (unlike the ahole taylor). And are an ok listen. They will take your call about the Texans..even though they are both Cowgirl honks. Hope this info helps my fellow SA Texans fans!

Ok guys time to start planning the next event. I think that this year we should have a watch party for the preseason Monday night game. This will give us a chance to meet one another and let the San ANtonio area fans know what is going to be in store for the upcoming season. We can determine what site would be the best place to meet at in the event the Texans games are not on TV here. Also you can sign a petition that shows the networks that there are Texans fans here in SA. Who knows maybe we can get the restaurant to give us a section on Sundays for Texans fans.

In the past we have had success at the BWW at Dezavala, but I would like to hear if you guys can think of a real good place to watch the game.

Dude, tell me what I can do! I am so sick of all the cowgirl crap on the tv stations around here. I've got several other Texan fans in my area that I'm sure would love to help the revolution too!!

I didn't know they had made training camp tickets available- I had my buddy in Houston pick me up some tickets, and went to Monday's practice. LOVED IT!! I really like Barwin.
