ex-Texans WR Diontae Johnson

Diontae hasn’t had the best QB play since he’s been in the league, caught the tail end of Big Ben’s career, followed by whatever their revolving door threw up, moved to the mire of the Panthers’ situation, of course the Baltimore move hasn’t worked out for him.

Lots of upside, have to be wary of whatever attitude issues have happened, but the Hutchinson/Metchie duo aren’t going to get it done. Robert Woods does great blocking but isn’t getting much separation, lets hope Johnson can be a 1b here across from Nico.

You know what he's talking about.
I do which is why I listed Texans unworthy behavior that DJ has not committed.

He's not a diva like some WRs.

If anything he's got motivation issues.

I think it's wrong to group him in the "Texans unworthy" camp & i think Bob would have deferred to his coach on this one.

This dude did exactly what the LB in San Fran did.

He quit on his team.

When is this ever acceptable?
Never.

He did not quit on our team.

If he does we can (& should) cut him.

Texans had no ability to interview this guy. If they wanted to take a chance on him they put in a waiver claim.

Now he's in the building, they can give him the third degree. If they don't like his answers they can cut him, make him a healthy scratch, let him ride the bench...

I can’t believe they did this. Speaks to how desperate they are. It also speaks to what they think of Metchie and Hutchinson. No confidence in their ability to separate.

But I don’t think he’ll make a bit of difference, and I don’t think Demeco and Nick do either, but you can’t blame them for giving it a shot.

We should just trade with the 9ers for Mr Quitsalot!

Hell we need LBs too!

Now they gotta fix the oline AND receivers next season. Just great. As if this team didn't have enough holes on the offense already.

This can easily be done, I'm hoping Johnson fits in well in the locker room and they sign Bo Melton in FA then draft a TE in rds 1-3. This can be done. Brin Broadus has both Milum, Loveland and Taylor falling to the middle of the 2nd rd. A trade down may be the way to go.,

I see Bo Melton’s name mentioned but I don’t see him being more than a JAG. Not someone i’d count to boost the team just compete for a depth spot.

Wrong! Every WR on our roster (not named Nico Collins or Tank Dell) is “straight booty cheeks.” This is a damn good pickup! I just hope Slowik doesn’t crap the bed with his retarded play calling.
Ok I was lit up last night but… I think Hutch has a better ceiling than Metchie. He needs reps. Maybe now he will get them.

I believe he's an undervalued gem, that's stu.ck as the WR5 on a team with great receivers. When he's played he's produced and coming from Green Bay he already knows the WCO verbiage . I think he has the speed and talent to make defenses fear him. I would be so happy if this works out and Dionte comes back next year, then they add Melton. Trust me, good stuff will happen..

It’s the quitter part I don’t get.

I can’t imagine a dude coming in to my locker room from a team that fired him for not going in to play when he was suited up.

Makes no sense.
I get that.

If you were going to bring someone in to help fill the Tank Dell void, who would it have been?

Can those that are saying he quit post the article with the team saying he quit?
I don't think the word quit was used by the Ravens when Johnson refused to go into the game and play. Perhaps we should call him a refuser rather than a quitter?

In some situations, it is not important to know why a person did something. In this case I am interested and imagine that will be discussed as soon as possible by Ryans .

I’m happy with this. We need his ability and he needs to be needed. Great timing. Low risk. High upside.
This should be the only response. What’s being somewhat overlooked in his previous stops and behavior is the fact that He really hasnt had a qb at any of his previous stops & where he’s been placed on the depth chart. When he had Rothlisberger at the end of his career for a few years, he was reasonably productive and was a clear #2 and had a thousand yard season. but his last year there he endured Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph…Then he got unceremoniously traded to Carolina and had to deal with Young and an over-the-hill Dalton. Yeah he went to Baltimore after that and had Jackson, but was relegated to #3-4 behind Bateman….who to his credit has emerged this year…but prior to that, had done nothing close to what Johnson has done in the league.

If I’m being optimistic, the kid could be just needing and wanting the right situation..which he COULD have here with a young emerging qb in CJ and us basically having a #2 WR slot wide open just begging to be solidified. But if he comes here thinking he should be the #1 guy over Nico and pouts…yeah he can kick rocks.

Hutch has had all the opportunity over the last couple of years to solidify himself as something more than what he currently is. He’s failed to do it. if anything he’s left the door cracked for Metchie to get snaps. He and Metchie are the same guy truthfully. Nothing more than 4-5’s.

Hopefully he takes advantage of another opportunity. Must be nice to have that kind of talent in which gives you chance after chance after chance after chance.
Signed,

Lawrence Phillips
Pac-Man Jones
Terrell Owens
Josh Gordon
Antonio Brown….

And countless others

And neither one of them have had consistent chances /targets

I thought it was a lonshot to play today. You are talking one full day with the team, while they are in deep game day mode on a short week. We will see him against Tenn. it’s such a very short time here, it’s going to be hard to make a real difference, but he might on a team bereft of talent at WR. He has 2-3 games to show this team he can be the guy at WR2.

Yeah unrealistically I was hoping they would give him 3 or 4 plays from the playbook to get in a few game reps. But only 1.5 days is asking too much.

That seems like click bait, honestly. Although both Houston and the Chargers are 9-6, *the tiebreaker to get awarded Johnson came down to opponent strength of schedule.* I guess that's technically a technicality.. 🤔😂
And yet annually, fans and teams watch those technicalities. 😀

Imagine joining a team.... that just got humiliatingly annihilated by your old team.

I guess we will see if he will be a problem sooner rather than later if the humiliation continues.
What’s the worst that can happen? Offense gets shut out in a prime time game? CJ passes for less than 100 yards?

Both scenarios have already happened without him!

At this point I dont really care what he does. Give him a fuel truck and matches with the keys to NRG.

Losing in the fashion they have been losing is far worse for the team than any "lockerroom cancer" the locker room cancer can only speed up the inevitable process that would just take longer to occur and Im all for the melt down implosion.

Not cause I hate my team or I enjoy their failures... but because the sooner it happens, the faster we can recover from it rather than draw it out season after season of disappointment only to end the same way.

Get the crap fest over with.

Well, at least we're not Cleveland. Or Tennessee.

We've got a fair to middling team that should constantly be in the playoffs because of being in a weak division. There is no hope for Tennessee or Jacksonville, they're complete duds. Indy however only needs a decent QB to give us fits, which they aren't going to have unless they draft one because the one they got ain't gonna cut it.

Sometimes burning down the village is the fastest way to rebuild it better. If it’s going to go south…I want it to go really south. We already see DeMeco is a slow burner. He’s not a hair trigger guy. If things are merely fair…he can find excuses and reasons enough to keep the status quo. What we saw Christmas Day wasn’t fair. It was pathetic. If that happens in the playoffs, he will be compelled to make big changes. And that’s what we need.
