ESPN focuses on complete ND coverage

I think it will be a long season for them:gun:

But look on the bright side, the more they cover ND, the less time they have to cover the yankee's and red sox.

The most overated team in all of sports.

Overrate? Yeah ok between Mark Mar and Maisel the two biggest haters of all time you think they are overrated?

No overrated is when you are the 20th ranked team and you lay an egg like A&M did Thursday.

Considering everyone picked ND to bad this year how does that make them overrated? I think you might want to look the word up in the dictionary.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said.

The fact is, Notre Dame gets pimped every year by the media brain-trust. They have had great pre-season ratings for as long as I remember.

A&M, on the other hand, started off barely on the board, and then got beaten by a good Miami team in Miami. We have never started high in the BCS rankings. We are the polar opposite of overrated. We are just damn-near overlooked.

How about a compromise....Over-COVERED?

I mean certain bowls have exceptions written in to permit only one independent (ND) into their available mix.

Is that the same "good" Miami team that got destroyed in Oklahoma?

Really is that why everyone before the year said that ND might only win 5 games? They were not ranked to start the season, so I am not sure how you can say that. There are a lot of people like Mark May who trash everything there is about ND and this site is a prime example of someone just loving the fact that they get a chance to bash the Irish.

Only if ND wins 9 games. So yes they do have some advantages just like some conferances have the same thing with bowls. You see it every year a bowl will take a 8 win SEC team versus a 10 win PAC team or MAC team.

I will not dispute they are covered more than a lot of schools, but it is like the Yankees you either love them or love to hate them.

Dig deep enough and you can find anyone who bashes a certain team.

Did you ever think that maybe people like to beat Notre Dame because the Irish are always immensely covered, and it is good publicity??

I do not have to dig, just listen to Mark May he is on tv every week. Are the Irish covered anymore than USC? Not at this point.

The whole fake website is geared to bashing Notre Dame so how is that digging?

And they just scored their first touchdown of the season. We're going to be hearing about it all day.

Overcovered is absolutely the correct word here.

no one thought Notre Dame would do anything at all this year.

they're "overcovered" because there are a lot of people who care about Notre Dame out there, and want to know how they do. especially the people who really hate Notre Dame and like to see them losing badly on national television. people think that ESPN shows their games and talks about them non-stop because they like them....not true, they want the ratings, and they know people will watch the highlights to see 14 fumbles and 28 interceptions a game. they love it!

what you want to root for is mediocrity with Notre Dame. if they're too extreme on either side, good or bad, they're going to get the hell covered out of 'em.

Michigan was overrated
Louisville was overrated
Texas was overrated

Aggies ranked 25th coming in to the season after going 9-3 in the regular season last year losing three games by a combined total of 6 points until the holiday bowl with 18 returning starters and their complete o line.

Not Overrated, although they are under playing.

Michigan lost twice.

Louisville lost twice.

Texas is still undefeated. Kinda hard to say a team is overrated until they lose.

Texas is still undefeated.

Who have they played?

Oh, I remember. Arkansas State, TCU, Central Florida, and Rice.

Kinda hard to say a team is overrated until they lose.

How would anyone expect the Longhorns to lose to any of those teams?

If any of those teams would have beaten them, then not only would the Longhorns be overated, they would be an embarrassment.

Louisville's defense is terrible. they'll still win games and give the other Big East teams plenty of issues.

Calm down, Rudy.. I didn't know it was such a touchy subject for you. I didn't say they were overrated this year only. I think they have been overrated overall for some time now. Even though they haven't done anything since Lou Holtz left, they talk about them on TV and on the radio like they matter. First it was that Ty willingham was going to turn them around, well that didn't work. And then the great offensive genius of Charlie weiss was going to bring back the mystique of Notre Dame. What has happened, They Suck.. and they suck bad.... So until they are relevant, they shouldn't give them all this coverage. Who cares about Notre Dame? Just a Bunch of egghead nerds who graduated from there or people who are are catholic who didn't go to a major University and pull for them, other than that, nobody cares... They'll be 0-9 and NBC will still be showing them on TV. And don't give me this bull that they show them on tv cause people wamt to see them. People want to see executions on tv and they don't show them.

Sounds more like you are jealous than anything else. Especially because you called me Rudy. How was I acting for you to try and use it as an insult? Just because the team you root for can not get the national medias attention you want to attack anyone that likes Notre Dame. As someone who went to UofH and who does pull for UofH (great game on saturfay by the way) and also I am a big Notre Dame fan. I am not Catholic nor am I some egghead as you want to call people who attend Notre Dame. The reason I became a Notre Dame fan is when I was younger the first college football game I ever attended was at Notre Dame University and just fell in love with the team as a 9 year old boy and living in Valporaiso I got to watch them every week.

So your little attitude you can take it and shove it as far as I concerned. Why would you even insult an entire group that obviously you know not one damn thing about. Is it that did not have the grades to get in?

ClTexan yes they do have a contract with NBC to show all home games, no one else has to show the away games. Like we all money dictates which games are shown on TV and which teams get invited to bowls for the most part. If a team travels well they will get the invite to a bowl gave over another team.

Just curious what college team do you like ray?

You have some thin skin if you got offended that I called you Rudy or calling someone an egghead. Your the one that started the rock throwing by telling me that I needed to look up what overated means. You obviously were trying to be a smart ass. So if your gonna play this game, you better be able to take it.

And I am not a tidbit jealous of Notre Dame. I really could care less about them. It's just that i don't want to hear about them all the time because they are not that good. I can't stand USC, but they matter, they are good, so yeah they deserve to be talked about consistently.

And Yeah, you have good reasons to like Them, they took you to games when you were young. But there are other people who went to other games when they were small, such as ole miss games, vanderbilt games, but they don't talk about these teams 24/7.

And I attended Sam Houston State. Great school. But I root for good football games. Good teams VS. Good Teams

Or like how UT did on Saturday...Kharma is rough.

Texas was over rated, but that is what happens in an exhibition sport where there is no playoff format and you have polls that at times make me believe that figure skating scoring and college football polling are handled by the same folks.

I understand your need to gloat, but in true Aggie form you failed to mention that Florida, OU, WVA and Rutgers all lost as well and you did it in a thead about Notre Dame.

Well done, you are my Aggie of the week.

You obviously didnt read the whole thread, just my last post.

Nicely done

I have read it, again, taking timelines into the equation, again, and my post still stands.

No overrated is when you are the 20th ranked team and you lay an egg like A&M did Thursday.

As long as you read the post I was responding too, which was a post that was posted in a ND thread. I will take your complement of being "aggie of the week"

And since I want to stay on the subject as far as the thread, ND is terrible this year.

I like how the Notre Dame kid on ESPN's First Take said that playing Boston College is like beating up your younger brother.

Too bad BC has won 4 in a row & 5 out of 6.

BC up 20-0 in the 3rd quarter.

Jimmy Clausen is the most overhyped college player I've ever seen. He has a weak arm, makes terrible decisions, & has very limited mobility. Hopefully some experience this year will help him out in the future.

7/19 for 60 yds & 2 INTs before he was pulled.

DeJuan Tribble is for real.

Evan Sharpley's first drive at QB leads to a TD.

Maybe Notre Dame could win some games if they let this kid play a whole game at QB instead of throwing a true freshman out there into a hopeless situation.

Notre Dame never quit today.

Their defense showed a lot of heart, but they just dont have the talent on offense to compete this year.

With Clausen at QB they're doomed. With Sharpley, they have a chance to at least finish the season in a respectable fashion (meaning they wont get blown out anymore).

Are they calling for Weis' head yet? Where is the talent, where is the genius?

The talent is there, the problem is that none of them have playing experience. That and I am not to sure about the O-Line coach keeping his job. 85% of ND problem is the O-Line, from blocking for the pass, blocking for the run and holding and false starts. I have never seen one group get penalized more in college football history.

Sharpley is a Junior with no playing exp and Claussen is a true freshman, all the WR that have up average talent are either Freshman or Sophmores. The college game looks to fast for Claussen right now. Sharley should start, the team performs a lot better with him at the helm.

Weis will get one more year because of his contract and that is it if there is not huge improvements I think he would take a buy out.
