Dunta's Inferno

Low Life

Noob
Did anybody else see Dunta going off on the sideline? They were seperating him from somebody else. He looked pretty upset. Anybody see what that was all about?

Ask Carr and Gary Walker.

I am sure it was just a "...we all hate to lose, and it was just heat of the moment stuff..."

This season is so over it's not even funny anymore.

Dunta has been going off for 10 games now. he is pissed and he is gonna keep gettin in his teamates faces until they start playin the D he expects from him. Dont look now people but we have a young Aaron Glenn in the making. A future leader on the D side maybe we can get Peek and another LB to help him out on the leadership side of things.

yeah. dunta's dope. i like that he holds people accountable. he's by far my favorite defensive player. i was more or less just wondering who he was digging in to this time.

I hope he was yelling at someone. Somebody needs to be doing it as we have no leaders on this team. As long as what he is saying is true then make him a captain. We can at least start developing our new leaders for next year's team.

He already is the captain of the D. He is the one accepting and declining penalties, talking to refs, and such...

D-Rob's job is safe. I'm sure McNair is watching. Gotta digress to AJ. I was upset about the penalty but I like the emotion he had and got in the other guy's face. Clearly a bad season for him. I expect to hear more from AJ as time goes on. Bad game, but he's still gonna shine.

D-Rob, just keep doing what you do. Things have gotta get better.

Quite frankly AJ is on a downhill slide. Its not his fault he is a victum of this coaching staff like so many other players.

Peek doesn't have time to become a leader. He is to busy jumping in the air and getting faked out by slow-***** quarterbacks with their pump fakes.

Seriously, it is like the guy does not even have a clue on how to read an o-line. I saw more plays than not where he was running upfield like it was a pass and it was a run. Had he stoped and read the line, he would have been there to make the play. He is clueless.

The coaches and others have implied he is an air head and it looks like it might be true. In fairness though some people simply can make decisions under game pressure situations. A notiable example is Capers. I'll bet he can break down every play and why it worked or didn't work while watching film. But Capers is paralized in the heat of battle. The good lord simply doesn't give all of us the ability to think under pressure. Very few people are gifted with that ability.

I believe Dunta was addressing the whole defense in general, and maybe one or more of them took exception to it and said something back and that's why they had to pull Dunta away. Again I have to ask, why is it that Dunta is the smallest guy on our team and he is the only one that exhibits any kind of testicular fortitude?

To speak in cliché:

It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Dunta has missed too many tackles this year in my opinion and hasn't improved much from his rookie campain. He tries to knock people out too much and doesn't wrap up and wait for defensive help to arrive enough. The last few weeks he has had shots to take down backs close to the LOS and bounced off the runners. The big hits are nice...but he can't keep looking for that shot and then tackle poorly hurting the team when they don't work out.

I agree that the last couple weeks he's missed some tackles, but earlier in the year he was great at it. Maybe the disappointment of the 1-9 season is starting to get to him a little bit too. Either way if I was to choose anyone on our defense to make a tackle one-on-one with someone it would be Dunta every time, and he had the hit of the year on Wayne last week. I wish Coleman and Buchanon could tackle someone without going for an 8 yard ride first.

Ill agree he's missed a few tackles but I attribute most of those to being agressive , trying to make the big play , force a fumble or incompletion ..... That is someting this defense lacks outside of Dunta . Hard to blame the guy for that .... especially when he feels like he HAS to make those kinda plays cause no one else on the D is gonna make them .

As for the Texans LB's becoming leaders .... they have to play with some kinda smarts and consistancy before we can start thinking of them as team leaders ..... I dont think this group of LB's have much potential to do that .

I think Wong is still a solid LB and I think Peek can be a good pass rusher, but they like to drop him back into coverage and do other things with him that aren't his strength. If they wanted a great, versatile LB that can do anything they ask him to, they missed out last year with Derrick Johnson.

Why are we griping about Dunta? He's one of the few bright spots on a dull team. Is he perfect? No, but on this team, you don't need to be perfect to look good. Other players look good on the Texans but aren't exactly reveared by other NFL teams. Dunta, Davis, Gaffney, and Mathis are some of our best players on the field. Let's look to the other side of the field and gripe about the Matador, Pburnt. The guy couldn't tackle to save his mom.

Hey Coach , you mean you want me to tackle this guy with the ball ? I thought i was suppose to hit the one who just handed it to him ? Make up your mind !

The Texans are Dead last in the league in rushing defense , giving up 4.9 per attempt , 160 yards per game . Pittsburgh is tops in the NFL in avg per carry with 3.2 (84.2 ypg is 3rd) and San Diego allows the fewest total rushing yards with 78.1 (3.6 avg is 5th)

Possibly a more telling stat .... Last in the league in passing defense allowing 68.7% of attempts to be completed . That last number is 2.7% worse than the #31 team in that department (San Francisco 65.9%) by comparison the top eight teams in this category are seperated by only 2.8%. Washington being #1 with 54.3% and Carolina #8 with 57.1% .

They also lead the NFL in fewest turnovers forced with Eight total for the season (Tied with Washington) .
For the sake of comparison ...Cincinnati leads the NFL in this stat with 30 turnovers forced . Considering the fact they forced 15 over a 3 game span ... Second in the stat is Carolina with 27.

They are next to last (tied w/ New England) in total sacks with 14 . Seattle Leads the NFL with 34 while Cleveland is Last just one ahead of the Texans .

If there was any question before as to why this team has won only one game there shouldnt be now .... and we havent even gotten to the offensive stats yet .... how does 29th in scoring grab ya ?

Im not worried about Dunta goin off on the sidelines , Id be more concerned if he werent :texflag:

Some of us aren't cheerleader types and just talk about the game we watch.

well its kinda makes you wonder..."why would a second year player get into the faces of some distinct veterans??"

well dunta, although he really hasnt had a great year, is still one of our better players, and his job becomes alot easier if the d-line could get any kind of pressure on the opposing QB....so i think its good that he has this fire in him. then we can see him unleash his anger on the field, like he did vs. reggie wayne a few weeks ago.

This thread has been mostly commending him; I was adding that as a general comment. I've heard others dumping on Dunta and I don't understand it. Sorry for any confusion.

No prob, wasn't sure where that comment was coming from.

Some guy called the Sports Radio 610 this afternoon. He said he was sitting 2 rows behind the Texan bench. He said that Bradford and Gaffney were on the sideline cutting up and laughing, while getting their butt kicked. The guy said it upset him so bad. Gaffney went in on offense and dropped a 3rd down pass. He came back to the bench and the guy yelled, If you weren't having such a good time on the sideline and had your head in the game you might have caught the ball. He said Gaffney got pissed and told him to come on down there, like let's settle this right here!

I was actually sitting right behind that guy..... Gaff was maaaaaaaad!!! That was right after the Dunta Robinson situation that I was originally asking about.
But yeah... I think that guy's got in an application for 2006 head coach.

Don't make me laugh. Robinson is part of one of the worst defenses in the league. He is just as much to blame for this debacle as anyone else. He needs to shut up and sit down on the sidelines and make plays when he's on the field. The best way to inspire your teammates is to make plays -- just ask Jerome Mathis about that. Unfortunately, I haven't seen too many plays from Robinson this year.

I haven't seen Robinson make many plays this year. And I've seen Gaffney drop a lot of balls this year. Davis works his butt off every week and his production shows it. The same can be said for Mathis.

Tell me how you are gonna put the blame on a CB for the worst RUN Defense in the NFL ..... You better point to the DL and LB's for that .

Lets move on to the worst PASS RUSH in the NFL ... I wont bother to post the stats , they are already posted in this thread ... take a look for yourself.

You have to take the rest of the defensive units performance into account when you grade a CB . On most pass plays the ball is out of the QB's hands in 3 seconds or less .... How many times have you seen the Texans DB's have to cover for 5 or more ? Too many to count ... Thats a recipe for failure .:brickwall

Yes Dunta has missed a few tackles and hasnt made as many plays but he plays on a lousy defense and is trying to make the big play , cause a fumble or pick off a pass to get his team some MOMENTUM .

Players tend to think that they have to do too much sometimes ..... kinda like a QB trying to win a game all by himself . Nine times outa ten he makes a mistake , throws a pick ..... But you cant blame the kid for EFFORT .

I Think Dunta is probably the ONLY player on the Texans defense who you can count on to give 100% Every Play despite their 1-9 record .... The rest of them need to understand that they are playing for their JOBS next season .

:ok:

I agree, it's hell to have to carry 3 defensive backs on your shoulder!! No way can he make up for PBurn, Coleman, and Faggins dissasterous season!

this is one of the funnier post I've read this season. A cb doesn't anchor a defense, it all starts up front. Look did people really expect him to go out and get as many ints. or tackles that he did in his rookie year. He was a rookie cb that was picked on for being a rookie cb and he had many more opportunities to make plays. Dunta is the least of our problems and is one of the bright spots on a sorry team. As far as telling him to shutup and sit down, thats the problem with this team, nobody has the balls to stand up and say something, at least he cares enough to do so.

Opposing QBs know not to throw near Dunta unless we're in zone coverage. Last year they tried to pick on him for most of the year and he had Aaron Glenn on the opposite side so people threw away from him. A significant portion of defending WRs lies in the pass rush and getting pressure on the QB. If the QB is forced into quick and bad throws the DBs have a chance to make a play, but if he gets to sit back there all day then DBs don't have a chance. The best CBs in the league can only cover even an average WR for a short period of time, and if there is no pressure up front then DBs can't really cover people very well. At the same time, good coverage enhances a pass rush because if CBs are playing 15 yards off their man every play (not to mention any names but we have had that problem), then a QB can make an easy pass to get out of trouble. The pass rush and coverage have to play well together at the same time and it hasn't happened for us this year, and a decent part of that is due to our poor blitzing schemes.
