DT or DE

Would you rather we draft a DT to play next to Mario or DE to add pressure on the other side? It's a deep DE draft and weak DT draft...Kareem Brown, DT from Miami is my main target in the 3rd. With Jamaal Anderson declared, I would love to add another big pass rushing DE, but he probably goes in the 1st and maybe Abiamiri drops to round 2. Alama-Francis, the DE from Hawaii may be there in round 3 unless he wows scouts in the combine...

having a hard time deciding what postions we need to fill on the first day. i think that a DB will be signed in FA (either CB or Safety) but i wouldnt think that would preclude us from taking one on Saturday.

the eagles took three DB's on the first day in 2002 in Sheldon Brown, Lito Sheppard, and michael lewis and all have given the eagles one of the best secondaries in the league along with brian dawkins over the past 4-5 years.

but if a blue chip DE like gaines adams were to fall he would form a fearsome tandem along with mario for years to come.

DT continues to be a need, but it seems as if alan branch's stock has fallen a bit and the interior line depth seems to be at the point in this draft to where you could get one in rounds 2-3 and be OK, even with Frank Okam returning to UT in this year. maybe that akoye kid could fall to us in the 2nd like ryans did last year.

i'd go DE if someone like gaines adams falls and would try to fill DT later saturday or sunday. hopefully they can trade dwon a few spots and gain an extra 2 or 3 to get their guy.

but always think BPA...

I would rather draft a big DE like Adam Carriker or even Jay Moore and move Weaver inside to DT. Weaver provides little to no pass rush off the edge as a DE but can provide ample pressure from the inside, that is the main improvement we need out of our defensive front next year. Babin and Peek are better in pass rush but neither can hold up very well against the run, hence we need a DE out there that is bigger or at least stronger than them but is more athletic than Weaver.

Well right now there are some attractive DTs in free agency, Rod Coleman, Vinnie Holiday and Terrell Sands. The Texans could realistically pick up one of these guys. Coleman and Holiday apply pressure from the inside and Sands plugs the center. The draft is for long term so you try acheive a premium player with your early picks. Therefore I would go with Charles Johnson DE, unless Jamaal Anderson DE declares. Both are true speed rushers who can dominate on the other side of Mario.

im not so high on carriker. he's kinda stiff and pretty much relies on strength alone. he'll prolly go earlier than our 2nd anyways to play 3-4 DE which he is much more suited to play.

I haven't seen enough of him yet to make any final conclusions, and I'd like to see his Combine numbers as well to see how athletic he really is, but from what I have seen I know he's more athletic than Weaver and I'd rather have him at DE than Weaver, however I don't know that I'd take him at the top of the 2nd round where we'd likely have to take him at, plus Carriker can play some DT too so that gives us another option of being able to move a guy around on the line for passing situations etc. (like they tried to do with Mario early in the year. I wouldn't mind seeing some of that out of Mario next year now that he's learned the DE position better, but with his athleticism I'd prefer to keep him out in space as much as possible).

I just read where Jamaal Anderson has declared for the draft so I would take him with the #8 pick.
