At this point it is no more than a hope and a wish for the Oline. Despite the previous coaching factor, there are too many obvious weak points in several of the Olinemen we are keeping from last season. Weaknesses that I don't believe will be able to be compensated by new coaching.

From what I've seen so far, I'd agree. But there should be some improvement over last year, I would hope.
 
If you would've told me that we would've came away from this draft with only 1 lineman, but 2 DBs, I wouldn't of believed it.

ESPN has put up a stat multiple times already. Stroud was the second most sacked QB last season (8 times in the Chiefs PO game), but the defense held NFL QBs to a league low 59% completion %.. Nick C. ain't lying, he does not draft for need lol.

They threw vets at the OL via FA/trade market. Also drafted Ersery. They are reuniting with Rankins at DT and re-signed Edwards, one bargain bin DT from last season.

They proved they can solve DT going the bargain bin vet route last season. DeMeco will maximize DL talent, no worries there. Also can go re-sign a guy like Foley if they are really concerned about it.

Hopefully they can have similar success with the OL. But I think the OL issues they are mostly hoping for change in scheme to more quick game helping more than talent change.

DBs will play more than backup OL. Past Jonah and Ratledge in round 2 I did not see any of the guards stepping in as a day 1 starter.

I am guessing but at the Jaylin Reed pic, I think Nick was going to get Will Howard of OSU who went three picks before. Grabbed the DB and then the quarterback later. I would have loved Stroud working with Howard.
 
so TE + DL/OL depth is gonna get addressed hard in UDFA then?

damn, I miss the days of having a juggernaut FB who barrels through the opponents' defense-- creating blocks, screens, and splits for the QB/RB/TE/WR -- OR JUST GET A BEAST TE who can line up in the backfield and create lanes

I was hoping for a young DT for them to develop, but they seem content with vet rentals. It works. We've got Rankins, Settle, Edwards. Togiai and Hinish for depth.

I saw what looked like a lot of promise for the FB position from British Brooks. I am hoping he can be the de facto fb/rb for our team.

I do wish more was done in regards to drafting top offensive line players and getting a stud TE as opposed to two WR's. Still I have faith that we drafted some difference makers and some solid contributors.

Agreed, i’d like a rookie contract added to that unit. I mocked Vernon Broughton to Texans at 89 but he went top of 3rd. I didn’t see a day 3 DT making this team. I guess as long as they continue hitting on bargain bin DTs it works out the same as rookie contract players.

Jakob Johnson was signed earlier this offseason. Starting FB for New England when Caley was FB/TE coach. Bigger than Brooks at 255.

I am no big fan of drafting a late round Qb for our team but the competition for main back up at the position will see to it that we have the best backup Qb possible. Of coarse they could have went that route via UDFA and got as good or better Qb competition as we got through a late draft pick.

You keep 9 on the 53, maybe 2-3 on the practice squad. We already have 9 I would say are locks and the remaining guys on the bord ain't beating them out. It seems a few more are floating around I probably forget. Ersery and Howard may be worked at Guard as well.
- C - Patterson, Scruggs
- IOL - Ingram, Tomlinson, Broeker, Carvin,
- OT - Robinson, Fisher, Howard, Brown, Ersery, Deculus

They seemed to go largely with upgrading skill, coaching, and scheme to allow quicker hits. Brought in competent vets who will make less mistakes for OL. I would have liked one more horse at IOL, but as someone said, the RB, DB's they drafted are depth and will actually make a contribution on ST

Caley being a TE coach should know what we have. Maybe he sees the skills in Irv Smith, Brevin Jordan and Stover. I would not let Schultz play at TE in a game until he shows he is willing to block. Last year was awful. 2026 we must look into TE, it would unlock so much more. I suspect they like the playmaking of Brevin when healthy. The quick passing game with Kirk, new RB, and new WR's looks promising, then hit them with Nico over the top

Caley thinks he can improve what he’s got. Stover was a 4th round pick, would probably slot right alongside Ferguson and Arroyo as a prospect in this year’s class behind the big 3. He should improve year two.

They added the Iowa State WRs, making sure they are rolling with mainly 11 personnel.

I like Jordan a lot, but he keeps getting injured. If he can stay healthy, I think he's the best TE on our roster.

As far as O-line and running backs go, remember Kubiak and his system. Texans were always getting slow-ish backs and passing on psychical freak linemen for guys with niche skills. Perhaps the new system is like that.

Also, this was just a terrible offensive line draft. 1st rounders and 6th rounders.

Agreed, Ratledge was the last guy I thought could be a day 1 starter. Early run due to supply and demand. I thought Jonah from Zona was the highest ceiling interior OL in the draft, but he should’ve gone around 50 talent-wise. Bumped to 37 due to lack of depth in class.
