It seems as if we will be picking in the5-12 range depending on our last 4 games. Would you want to pick there or try and trade out for a later 1st with an extra 2nd or 3rd RD or stay put?

Stay put and get a DB or maybe an OL.

Either or, Depends on the trade and what we get out of it. If its us moving from 10 to about 18 for an extra 3rd, I'd do it and pick Landry or Nelson (CC Brown needs to be moved to SS). DB is the biggest need for us IMO. We need more depth at OL and I think we should use FA to adress it so we can get immediate results rather than having to wait for talent to develop.

ADRIAN PETERSON. we need a playmaker at either qb or rb. and were stuck with u know who

Here is the thing: AP isn't that good a fit for our team, and is injury prone. Kubiak doesn't like to go RB early, and I believe our RB problems are linked to our OL problem. Also, no QB is better than Carr in this draft. There is no Young, Lienhart available. Quinn is overrated and the best QB is going back to school in Bohm. J. Russel won't declare, but even if he does, needs at least a season or two with a clipboard. Troy Smith is probally the best QB IMO, but we have too many other glaring needs to look for a QB or RB early. We need DB, OL, and LB in the worst way. Look for a Kolb second day if you must.

I want a big ugly with the first pick - OL or DL. Best Big Ugly Available. The bigger and uglier the better.

kevin kolb anyone? :highfive:

i think kolb is 1st draft day material. i can see him being a major fan favorite here in houston!

I think you nailed it. My pick would be best LT avail even if Spencer is ok to begin season and Winston was torched yesterday@RT.These positions are too important. I think CB or DT in second with the opposite in 3rd. I go with Kolb in 4th if avail if not a RB. 5th would be RB if we get Kolb in 4th or another CB. It seems Kubes was satisfied with Safeties and better play @ Corner and LB next season may show him to be right.

I think AP would fit our system very well...it's just that he would have to be seleted early...unlike most backs that strive in Kubiak's system.

I've been doing some research on Peterson simply because I think he is slightly overrated. I still think he is the best back in the draft.

But I had Maroney #1 last year and I think that Maroney was a better RB last year than Peterson is this year.

The results are somewhat interesting.

The average defense that Peterson played was ranked 57th in run defense. His opponents gave up an average of 127.2 rush yds per game (this was heavily shifted down when Texas' #2 defense was added).

He averaged 155.8 yds per game & 1.6 TDs per game. So he averaged 28.6 yds higher than the opponent average.

His back-ups Patrick & Brown:

Average defense faced was ranked 64th by giving up 140.2 yds per game. (This was heavily shifted up when Baylor's #113 defense was added).

They averaged 149.0 yds per game & 1.4 TDs per game. So they averaged 8.8 yds higher than the average.

I might be going overboard on the stats with this comparison but I thought it was interesting.

So is Peterson overrated or are his back-ups (a JUCO transfer & a freshman who are both in their first years in this offense) just that good?

If Texans are picking #5 and Calvin Johnson is available take Calvin, he is just to good to pass up, if drafting close to # 10 take LaRon Landry. With Johnson take Michael Griffin in the 2nd and with Landry take Michael Bush in the 2nd. 3rd RD for both take Doug Free OT, N Ill.

I want to trade down if we can. With the points we should be able to get a low 1st and their 2nd for our high first. most teams would probably be unwilling to do this with us though. so trading our 1st for someones 1st late first round and a 3rd is easier to do. with that we could probably get Reggie Nelson, Patrick Willis, some OL, or maybe a CB AND with the third pick up Kevin Kolb like a lot of people want us to.

This way we still get a guy in the 1st that is immediately starting that we need and is good and kevin kolb if he's there in the 3rd. plus we still have our 2nd and 3rd. just a thought.

I think Marshawn Lynch is a better fit for us than AP. He's having a decent year despite nagging ankle injuries and is a super-explosive back that is fun to watch. Some say he's more of a complete back than AP. Watch him against the Aggies in the Holiday bowl ... hopefully he'll be at 100% then.

oh boy im so excited about the draft, its gonna be one hell of a draft with kubiak continueing to build this team, and theres so many good players, not great players like VY, reggie bush and mario, but theres a whole lot of good guys, i can hardly wait, my b-day is in april so kubiak give me a good b-day present and get us someone that will be a leader for this team, like acouple more super mario and demeco, and charles spencer, players, next year is gonna be great :mario3:

Yeah well there is something that is pushing Terrell Brown up the mock boards. He had a very nice NC game aginst USC laat year no doubt. But come on..I've seen him as high as the top of the second ? Tells me this is a very weak DB class. I remeber the same thing happened a couple of drafts ago with Ahmad "Batman" Carrol Ark./ Packers. Third round tallent that needed a year of seasoning went in the first round. My smeller say this is the same deal. Deep WR's, o-lineman. Weak, QB's, Rbs and DBs. JMHO.
