For once, why don't the Texans seriously consider drafting Levi Brown. If they don't want him at #8, why not trade the pick for another position in the 1st round and pick up extra picks?

Texans Offense

WR, Andre Johnson

WR2, ????? ???????

OT, Levi Brown

OG, Charles Spencer (If he is healthy, or maybe keep Chester Pitts)

C, Ryan Kalil????

OG, Fred Weary

OT, Eric Winston

TE, Owen Daniels

QB, David Carr

FB, Vonta Leach

RB, Ahman Green, w/ Ron "Bowser" Dayne

no levi brown please. the only reason he is even being mentioned is because he is in a very underwhelming class of offensive line talent. we are better off going for more depth at 2nd and 3rd round.

We can't draft Levi Brown NOW, we have to wait our turn on draft day.

Even then I don't see us drafting him because he just isn't value at #8, when compared to others that might be available there.

I don't get how you would consider keeping Pitts, when Pitts is clearly the best lineman that we have on the team at the moment.

I also think you'll find that Kalil will be gone before we pick in the 2nd.

I'm thinking that we would be best off to Sign Cooper Carlisle from the Broncos and line up Spencer, Pitts, Weary, Carlisle, Winston. Hopefully we grab a OT prospect somewhere in the mid rounds.

If not Brown then we need to pick someone up later in the draft or sign a better LT FA. Placing a LOT of hope on Spencer being able to go full force next year makes me nervous.

my point exactly in the offensive line thread. Waiting around to see if he comes back healthy, we're gonna be doomed to fail. We did that last yr. with DC, DW & we did it for i don't know how long with Boselli.

I Think even if he does come back, he won't be the same as he was thus we'll be looking for another LT next year.

lets face it the growing consensous around here is that Kubaik is gonna pull another LT out of the hat in the 3rd rd. who will impact & start opening day :)

while the reality is - teams who draft LT's in the 1st increase their chances of landing a franchise type of tackle prospect (left side/right side) for years to come so they can focus on their skill players.

this is one of my favorite bittersweet learning processes regarding the draft- you study & you watch all the game film you can get your hands on, sign up for draft services, read message boards/post, listen to the radio & watch the TV for any draft events (Senior Bowl, Combine, etc. etc..) so when draft day comes your not only prepared, you have a better understanding of the future stars in the NFL and can follow their careers & pathways even if they don't get drafted by the Houston Texans. the draft makes anyone who relishes it a better student of the game, adds layers of information about its players & a reason its become the largest televised non-sporting event on the market. :twocents:

I just read in another thread that Levi Brown lack ideal speed and should be starting as a RT instead of a LT. We need to go after Joe Thomas but it would be so hard to pass on CJ!!! ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

OK I just read Levi Brown's scouting report. The report says he lacks a mean streak and does not show up on some plays. He might not even be able to handle the load of LT?We need a LT.
