Draft day predictions - any team.

Texansphan

Football connoisseur
I think we are gonna see some wild action in this draft - particularly from the #3 pick on down into the late teens.
I am highly suspicious of the 49ers in particular - it is difficult to imagine them trading up into the #3 spot burning two 1sts and a 2nd for a QB that is not a lock to start and that is what you would expect for such a high price.
They must be thinking now is still in their window to win and just that one piece away...
Add any notions or ideas you might have in mind.

Its a virtual certainty that the 49ers are taking a qb...1 that will be starting for them day 1. Which one, who knows but here's Lil Shanny last week on whether or not Garrapolo is on the roster by the end of draft day weekend " i can't guarantee anyone in the world will be alive on sunday"....Lol..About as non-committal as you could get to Jimmy G.

My bet is on the NDSU kid. He's got high upside and he doesn't need to light it up passing wise just yet b/c they have talent all around him already...+ he can run. Fields can too but i think they've been scared off by the Epilepsy thing as well as his injury history and his overall arm talent isn't as smooth & natural;he has a long wind up..Whereas I think they're looking at Lance as baby Kaepernick...dude is literally the same height and weight but he's not as wirey.

Also, no way in hell Chicago lets Justin Fields slide to 32. If he's even close to #20 where they pick, they take him...might even move up.

Beyond that i expect that 1 of the not-so-obvious teams in the top 20 will take a qb..perhaps the Giants give up on Daniel Jones and take Mac Jones? ATL puts Ryan on notice and takes the hometown kid Justin Fields? NE jumps ahead of everyone and takes 1? Gruden finally gets rid of Carr and jumps up to snatch someone? With so many of these potential franchise guys to be had, these HC/GM's wont be able to restrain themselves from making a move to get 1 if they have ANY doubts about the viability of the guys they have now. And the only teams who don't have that doubt in the top 20 are Cincy, LA Chargers and probably the Cards.....that's it.

Garropolo won't be going anywhere - they need a backup who is NFL conditioned and knows the 49ers offense. Just in case.

The 49ers or the Panthers pick Mac Jones

Cowboys pick Horn

Bears pick Mills in the 2nd. Probably after trading up.

This is a good draft to trade back in.
That will yield another pick either this year or next and from appearances, moving back 10-15 spots will still likely land us a decent prospect.
For example, if you use nfl grades, Josh Myers C, Asante Samuels CB, Shakur Brown CB, Paulson Adebo CB and Charles Snowden Edge are in that area of the board.
If you drop back another 5-6 spots you are looking at Kyle Trask QB, Michael Carter RB, Walker Little OT and Bobby Brown DT.
Caserio has a plethora of options.

If the 49'ers want a QB1.....tell them to call Caserio and offer up (3) RD1 (21,22 & 23), (1) RD2 (21), and (1) RD3 (23), and Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49'ers could sign McCarron on the cheap to come and bridge their QB1 spot until the Watson shite-show blows over. They'll probably get to have Watson under center after the NFL Bye-Weeks. 49'ers now have their QB1 and QB2 set for the foreseeable future. On a side note, Watson's actions shouldn't surprise anyone in San Francisco since they're just fine having the homeless crowd take craps right next to their outdoor dining facilities, drug users tossing their used needles all over their streets......and JG dating a porn star. I think Watson would fit right in with the city and team.

The Texans and Caserio would have a QB1 in Garappolo that they'd have no desire to keep, so they could immediately offer JG to any team willing to cough up a couple of picks to take him off the teams hands. I think the Patriots could bring a 2021 RD2 and a 2022 Conditional RD2 to the table.....I'd be happy to send him back to NE.

In closing the Texans would have the following draft capital:

2021
RD1-03-003 (SF)
RD2-11-043 (SF)
RD2-14-046 (NE)

2022
RD1 (SF)
RD2 (NE)

2023
RD1 (SF)
RD3 (SF)

I do believe that SF has already mortgaged that future to move from #12 to #3.
San Francisco 49ers boldly trade up to take their swing at finding a quarterback - San Francisco 49ers Blog- ESPN

A-Hole diddling aside.....Watson, "on the field of play" would be a massive upgrade over any QB they'd draft at the 3 spot. On the other hand, the 49'ers bringing a 2021 RD1-03 pick and the Texans taking Garoppolo's contract off their hands would be a nice way to open the conversation.

I would want their second this year as well as next year's 1st.
If Texans do get JG and the #3 overall pick, Caserios phone will be ringing immediately from teams wanting that #3 pick for their bite of the QB cherry.
Time to load up!

Do the Pats have the cap space to take that contract? That will be the deciding factor. I think the Niners may have to eat some of that deal.

Surely they will make the 49ers eat some of that contract, or give up talent if BB takes on the whole contract. BB is a witch.

Depends on if they hit on their QB.

I trust Lil Shanny

I find the charges of racism against Lil Shanny if he doesn't pick Fields over Jones disgusting. The draft is a crap shoot.
I think you missed the point. Optimistic was saying SF would offer up draft capital to trade for DW4. The only problem is that draft capital has already been spent to move from #12 to #3.

I guess my mind doesn't work with hypotheticals that cant happen.

The ironic part of this trade is that the #3 was originally our pick. This would be a great trade for all parties, assuming Watson plays in 2021.

Texian is right.....the 49’ers coughed up their 2021 RD1-12, 2022 RD1 & RD2, 2023 RD1.

“If” Caserio gets any serious phone calls regarding Watson it could come from the Bears, Giants and Falcons who are picking 10 & 11 respectively.

Bears can’t be sold on Dalton and Foles for the 2021 season and beyond.

I wonder how sold the Giants are on Jones after so-so 2019 & 2020 seasons? This might be their tell-tell season on Jones.

Falcons could be a bit more of a surprise but I wouldn’t be fazed if they’re checking after the 2021 season.

I'm hoping for a better situation next year. For instance the Texans have the #1 pick in 2022 draft. They're going to pick Howell. So say they trade DW4 to the #2 or #3 pick for 3 #1s and a couple of 2s or 3s. Then the Texans could trade the #2 or #3 pick into another bonanza of future picks. I'm not sure it can get much better than this.

No trades in the first round. Every team keeps their spot. That's my boring prediction. Oh, and someone throws up on Roger Goodell.

That is what I have been promoting with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Damn I’m good...

This is exactly how I hoped things worked out from the beginning.

One yr of pain to have the ability to set the franchise up with the most well rounded/talented roster they've ever had. Gotta find the QB (Strong) and hit on the bevy of high picks.
