DOWNTOWN HOUSTON TEXANS CLUB MEMBERS: It is Now Time to Prepare for DRAFT DAY!

MONARCH

Noob
Greetings all.....

LAST COUNT, 2,079 members strong..and GROWING!

COME FORTH! For our native son VINCE YOUNG,will indeed stand tall upon the podium overlooking not only NEW YORK, but indeed all of TEXANS NATION!.....

We have very patiently stood by and watched with a TEXAS POISE all of the "rb's" amid their absolute desperate attempts at trying to "tear away" at our STRENGTH OF TEXAS TRADITION......by repeatedly coming forth upon this great website, and continously spewing forth every ounce of tobacco juice that they can muster in lieu of their little "area code carrying runniing back.....well, we will respectfully refer to him as the rb". Trying oh so desperately to stymie us into relenting our TEXAS FIRST STRONGHOLD.

YOU SHALL BE HEREBY INFORMED OF YOUR ROLES! For all we are awaiting at this point, are for the TEXANS FO to officially announce the actual site of the 2006 DRAFT DAY PARTY.......and then we shall commence!

THERE IS NO WAY UPON THIS EARTH THAT WE SHALL ALLOW FOR THE "cardinal and mustard colors of thr rb's" TO INCH THEIR WAY INTO OUR TEXAN MAINSTREAM.......NO WAY!

VINCE YOUNG, please know that we shall be representing your TRUE TEXAS STRENGTH in masses.....for when you look down from upon that podium in the City of New York.........you will be smiling that great TEXAS BORN smile of yours the same way you did the night that you beat the "rb's of the world" at their game........

We're not taking Young. Not gonna happen. It's Bush or Trade Down and the overwelming majority of people in this country think Leinart is better than Young.

"delusions of grandeur" .....you don't say.......

PLEASE my great pal.....COME FORTH and toss away your mustard and cardinal colored shades.....why don't you!

OH, and while you are at it.......why don't you try the "HJAM2006" For I am most certain that you will indeed appreciate the rhythm of the latest beat.....VY IS COMING HOME TO PLAY!

Your Pomposity,

Us hicks and peasants out here in Mustard and Cardinal land (aka Tomball) think your royal hinus will be sorely disapointed on draft day.

YOU DON'T SAY.....

.....for surely you cannot mean the same mode of disappointment that the "rb's" within the natural habitat that we shall call "southern california", felt the night that they received their "cardinal and mustard" colors handed back to them upon that huge BURNT ORANGE PLATTER THAT WE SHALL CALL TEXAS?

Oh yea, and before I forget......... TOMBALL?

Nah, he is going with daddy McNair (Steve, not Bob) in Titanland. Me thinks he has a soft spot for that icky Blue.

Monarch, you are a hoot but really....drinking Battle Red and Burnt Orange Koolaid in the same glass has some disasterous consequences. Like thinking VY is coming here....

Greetings Filo girl...

THINK BACK to the last four years........for in reality, we have all been "HOOTING" in one way or another.........and what was the end result? A NATIONAL LAUGHINGSTOCK!

......so if infusing a little elixir of Battle red/Burnt Orange Kool Aid could prove to be a sound stategy...........GO FIGURE!

The only way Vince Young will come to Houston (as a pro) is the annual visit he will make if he is drafted by the Titans.

I think at #3, the Titans will draft Leinart....not McNair's "son". Too much USC among the powers that be.......Fisher is was a Trojan, Norm Chow was the OC at USC (and was the tutor for Leinart). Chow will want someone who can master his offense, which Leinart has proven.

The last thing the flaming meatballs need is another QB that likes to run (and get injured).

I think that many Titan fans disagree with that....I lived out there for a few years and I don't think many of them think of McNair as a failure. I thought the McNair led Super Bowl drive against the Rams was one of the great SB drives of all time. McNair drove the team down field despite poor protection. Dyson just had no yac abilities or that would have been one of THE greatest drives ever. McNair has been a rock despite his injuries.

Welcome back Metro! You always have a way of adding a little spice to this board when it gets very boring!! BTW: I'm still looking for that "barf" smilie!!:) JK!!

Well, I am not sure Vince Young has the necessary tools that Steve Mcnair has.......it is easy to "lead" a team full of the best players in the country, but another one to bring avg players together for one common goal.

I did not say anything regarding Titans fans, but rather the Titans org....separate animal. Thank goodness for Billy Volek the past few years....he was able to step in for them and did fairly well. Do you think VY will like being the #3 QB?

Steve McNair did not have the flash and bravado (coming out of Alcorn St) that VY "demands respect for". McNair put his time in and was a solid QB for the Oilers and then a great QB for the Titans. VY seems to have that new generation feel to him.....demand respect now, and talk about proving it later. Too bad that is the opposite from reality.

Spare us the Shakesperian spat...For it will be Reggie Bush who is crowned the Texan hat....So as he shakes Tagliabues' hand, Vince will be seen daydreaming of his upcoming days in Tennessee or OAK...LAND

Young played for UT...... Matt was leading USC.... who'll have 4 offensive players selected in this years draft...... two or three last year, and a couple the year before that. Texas has had what 4, maybe 5 total in that time??

McNair Never played for the Houston Oilers.

1995 & 1996 he did unless I'm mistaken ..... maybe you mean he never started ... dunno
did he ever see the field in '95, '96??

I know he was on the team, but unless they were the Nashville Oilers(which, I think they may have been) he didn't play for the Oilers.

YOUR THE ROCK! STEADFAST.....STRONG.....and DISTINCTLY TEXAN! For this is what this board.....however wonderful it is........seems to constantly be missing.

We seem to have so many posters that seem to be afraid to STAND UP TO THEIR CONVICTIONS........instead, they seem to constantly follow whichever the wind decides to flow........

SO VERY HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU after all this time.........many of them seem to think that I am a rookie..........but you and many of our soldiers.....know the facts.....

BLESS YOUR HEART KIND SIR.....

GO AHEAD! Relax......take off your "cardinal and mustard colored shades".......take off those filthy slippers that you have been wearing ever since the ROSE BOWL......wash some dishes.......for surely they are stacked up by now.......make your bed......for surely even the "bed bugs" are indeed screaming.......for even a "TROLL" has at some point, a dire need to admit the truth........YOU LOST THE GAME !

.....so change your avatar........GIVE UP THE WHISKEY......for it can indeed prove to be a fatal "after losing the big game" crutch........change your boxers.......oh well, ENOUGH SAID!

OUR VINCE IS COMING HOME TO PLAY!
MONARCH

Actually Sir my team won the ROSE BOWL, I am not the one that needs to take off sunglasses. For I have awakened from the VY fantasy and have realized what is best for my pro team of choice. Go ahead and dream it is your god given right... Just please don't cry to much on draft day, everything will work out just fine, with RB as the #1 pick.:brickwall

UT had the #1 ranked OL (by many publications). Great college players do not necessarily equate to great NFL players. So the "USC will have 'x' number of 1st rd choices" is a moot point.

I was not comparing Young & Leinart.....rather Young & McNair.

The fact that someone states Steve McNair never played for the Houston Oilers, means that person has lost all credibility on this forum! Do your research before you spew rubbish!

Ask Aaron Harris if VY's leadership is BS. According to him, the defense is and was inspired by VY, they were totally confident in his ability to win if they got stops. We're not just talking about a guy that gets along with his line, backs, and receivers... we're talking about a guy that both sides of the ball fight for and gravitate around.

What's this flash and bravado? The guy has a good time on and off the football field, no excessive celebrations or flips into the end zone. "Demand respect now" the guy has been questioned throughout his young career and answered them all... proving himself at every turn. Can't be a college QB. Can't pass efficiently. Can't win a big game.

I was skeptical of the "leadership" angle, but having heard some of the things VY's teammates on both sides of the ball have said about him, it's clear he was THE GUY, and a source of motivation and confidence for the whole program.

Wow, then I am all for the Texans drafting him now because his boys speak so highly of him! PAAAAleeeeeese!

So what's your criteria for leadership then. He was the best player on the team that won the National Championship. He engineered several spectacular comembacks. All his teammates and coaches say he was the focal point of the team, a source of confidence and motivation. He kept guys loose, always made sure guys on the sideline were ready to fight and pumped up. What would satisfy your inquiry?

Please forgive him DR TORO! "For he knows not what he do"........you see, he will indeed be forever blind to the FACTS OF LIFE........ that is, until he relenquishes those cardinal and mustard colored shades.........

AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS........oh heaven forbids.......for he will then blossom like a newborn calf.........born on a famed native ranch.......right under a GORGEOUS BURNT ORANGE TEXAS SUNSET!
COME ON MIKEMC......RELENQUISH!

So he is Reggie Bush/Matt Lienert of Last year. The thing about seasons is they don't stop. Every team that has won a championship or that will win one, will have that player with that special something. This year 3 of them will be in the draft. UT just hasn't been their in a looonnnnggggg time so Vince is extra special to them. ( Big fish in the pond, will be amongst lots of big fish in the Ocean.)

My memory failed me again....

That was '96??

Monarch.....Mustard & Cardinal glasses? No, I just do not where Turd Orange glasses.

I am not for RB or VY. I am for MW or DF.....or the "trade down" and build up philosophy.

With the active FA approach the Texans have taken, they will possibly lose 2 or 3 draft picks. So why not trade down and still get a solid RB (plus more picks)? LWhite, DWilliams & LMaroney will be there at #10......so why not trade down? Everyone says Maroney has a lot of experience in the Zone Blocking schemes that the Texans will run....so why not!?

Turd orange??? Your turds are ORANGE?

You might want to see a doctor to get that checked out.

Even if the are not the BPAs?

And you can only trade down if there is someone willing to give you the value to justify it.

How about select the BPN.....Best Player Needed.

I thought we could just say "trade down" and the NFL would allow the Texans to move down 10 spots and give them a 2nd or 3rd rd pick. You mean there has to be a trade? Since when??? :crying:

He must have been before my time, but I don't get it nonetheless, lol.

Very nice, but has anyone thought
that will all the skils that Vince Young has got
If the Titans feel Young does not fit their Pro Set
He may wind up in the Big Apple as a New York Jet?

Vince Young in New York. It'd be like the ANTI Crocodile Dundee.

LOL, anything is possible until April 29th.
If I were to drop some funds on a sporting guess, my bens would be on them crazy meatballs in Countrytown USA. That is right now, of course. Scenes change fast in the wacky world of the NFL.

I don't have to worry about my bet though. The Texans and my graduating daughter got all my extra Benjamins right now. :redtowel:

That is so funny. It's like when you get done eating at a Chinese restaurant, and they bring you the fortune cookies. It's a gag when after reading the fortune, you always say afterward, "in bed", as a joke.

Axcept this time, let's use the words "in college".

So what's your criteria for leadership then. He was the best player on the team that won the National Championship in college. He engineered several spectacular comebacks in college. All his teammates and coaches in college say he was the focal point of the team, a source of confidence and motivation. I'm not the slightest bit interested in what Vince Young did in college.

What would satisfy my inquiry? Doing one hell of lot more than he's doing now to prove that he really truly wants to be taken with the first pick.

To me, he hasn't shown it, so fire away.

Exactly. It's a big step for an athlete like him who can throw the ball and run like a bat out of heck. NFL Lineman and even DBs are a bit bigger than those who are almost fresh out of HS. I don't want to see an injured VY, but if he thinks he can move the chains with his own legs every down, he will be sorely mistaken.
