Dopplemock7
complete miss. Didn't get anybody.

Dopplemock7.1
-selected Dennis Johsnon in the 6th round: really UDFA

Overall, as a predictor of the Texans picks, I did ok. Outside of the stupidly early in season mocks, I was able to pick a player the Texans would get in 4/5 remaining mocks. In Dopplemock 6 I came away with 3 correct choices and almost got 4.

Of the picks I missed, the two who had the most consideration were Hopkins and Quessenberry. I actually had them mocked in drafts of mocks, but they were removed prior to the final edit. Sweringer was considered but never made it into a draft of a mock. I never seriously considered Williams, Montgomery, Bonner, or Griffin.

Overall: not a bad job. I stand by my mocks in terms of quality players, not necessarily what the Texans actually did. As a result I am happy with my results.

Ok, your turn...time to Mock yourself!!!

Early mocks dont really mean much since the boards change so much between December and the draft.

However, my final draft was not terrible. I had us picking up an OL early (I had 1st, the Texans had second), drafting Swearinger (I had 3rd, Texans got him in 2nd), two receivers (I had 2nd and 6th rounds, Texans went 1st and 6th- I even had Hopkins in the first before I decided to through a change-up in there), a nose tackle late (5th vs 6th), and a SEC pass rusher in the 3rd (Lemonier vs. Montgomery).

I won't call it excellent, or even good by any means, but I got some of the trends right.

I think I did ok with the trends too. I generally had the Texans taking WR with the first selection, a second round OLB, a third round OL, NT, and 4/5th safety. I sprinkled in another OL, WR, RB, and OLB. typically.

Kinda fun to mock yourself!!!

Not sure how grading works, but I basically whiffed on every player and round/position.

Round 1(27): Margus Hunt, DL, S.M.U.

Round 2(57): Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor

(TRADE) Round 2(62): Vance McDonald, TE, Rice

Round 3(95): Jon Bostic, ILB, Florida

Round 4(124): Luke Marquardt, RT, Azusa Pacific

Round 6(195): Denard Robinson, KR,WR,RB,QB Michigan

Round 6(201): Ray Ray Armstrong, S, ex-Miami (FL)

Round 7(233): Bruce Taylor, ILB, Virgina Tech

I got two of the picks in my final mock...

I got Swearinger and Quessenberry

Swearinger a round late and Quessenbery a round early.

I've never done a mock for the Texans.

All I ever did was to look at the areas of need and try to find a few players at each position that might fit.

The current regime have always filled those needs to a large degree such that I haven't had any complain ever since I started looking at the draft in 2008.

On a few occasions when they didn't, eventually they would have to find a player (like Pollard).

In general, I think I'm quite in tune with their philosophy; sometimes, I think I'm even ahead of their thinking, LOL... like when a lot of us didn't like how we came into the season with a bunch of young players in the secondary, only to have to wait for them to learn the error of their way and sign Jason Allen.

Marcus just didn't have the production to support a first round grade. I would also add the same for Ansah, just a super high risk reward pick by desperate organization which is why they remain picking so high year after year.

On the other hand Terrance has the production to support a much higher selection than what he received. I mocked Ogletree in first if available & he was which meant Terrance would have been my second round pick also.

Also targeted McDonald but in the 4th. He was selected in the 2nd so you where closer than me. I did have Trevardo Williams in 3rd while he actually was still there for Texans in 4th I really don't know how he was still available?

My Safety pick was Phillip Thomas but figured would have to be in 3rd, he went in the 4th. He can also play both safety positions. Both primary positions however were more coveted FS position. Phillip graded out just ahead of Swearinger, according to OURLADS, 7.60 vs 7.01. He was also way more productive with 8 INT's vs 2 INT's for Swag therefore this pick was too rich for my taste, excellent position but prefer Thomas in the 3rd. Texans should have moved up in 2nd for Arthur Brown who I think most had graded 1st/2nd rd. grade.

Jordan Mills was taken three picks after Texans original 5th so his value was spot on had Texans not traded out but to their credit they moved back up earlier to steal Quessenberry even after taking Brennen Williams in 3rd who was only marginally rated higher, I'll take that switch with a smile & will never get upset with Texans for beefing up OL.

My two 6th rd. picks where off the board by time Texans selected. Corey Fuller, WR went earlier in 6th. While my sleeper pick Kevon Webster turned out to not be much of a sleeper going in the 3rd rd. to Denver after Texans first third. Oh well.

Did hit on Chris Jones but had him drafted by Texans in the 7th. So technically didn't get one single pick right myself, selecting two players but a round later on each count. :swatter::swatter:

All Mock Drafts should be called Whiff Drafts, because no one knows what the hell is going to happen.

That's the beauty of the draft. That's why it's so much fun to watch.

I just wish the NFLN and ESPN would get their heads out of their asses and realize what it is that fans love about the draft. It's not the "big" stories that they're going to talk to death for the next several months; it's the actual picks the teams are making and what they mean.

I got Brennan Williams in third and had Cierre Wood (forever) in 6th and he was UDFA not sure if that counts.

While I do like the players we got except for sixth round WR, I think we could have done better. Unless Brandon WIlliams is a total bust for Ravens, they schooled us. I cannot believe that we could not get a trade down into second and get a comparable WR then & another pick. We could have had a very good WR2 + Brandon + very good ILB candidate with an extra 3rd or 4th. Epic fail.

Not just you'd got player right but round as well. That counts for something. I think, it is very difficult to predict player and round. In the 1st rd, you got better chance in predicting player and round as the most of the 1st rd players are likely to be prime position players.(Except Dallas) But after 1st rd, it gets more difficult to predict as each team's evaluation seems to differ due to needs and scheme I think.

I thought Texans would select Hopkins if no trade down but I sure wanted Hankins.

I was focused on speed, getting faster in all phases. Other than Williams who I did mock, that has plus speed, Texans went physical but only average speed per position.
