Here is my scenario. The Texans sign 0 FAs before the lockout. The minute before the lockout, Bob McNair names Doppelganger the new Texans GM. The draft occurs before the FA period.
1. Carolina Panthers: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
Grab the top DT and rebuild that Defense with defensive Guru Ron Rivera as coach.
2. Denver Broncos: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
If Tebow is your guy, you need someone for him to throw the ball to. Give Tebow a friend and let’s see if he can get it done.
3. Buffalo Bills: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
Maybin has been a bust and they need a pass rusher and if you believe he is the best 3-4 OLB ,as many do you gotta grab him.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: Da'Quan Bowers, DE
Lots of areas to fix. One would be to add a great pass rush option to the Marvin Lewis D.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
They could use a QB, but Patterson is great value right here.
6. Cleveland Browns: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Cleveland gets the pass rusher they need to switch back to a 4-3
7. San Francisco 49ers: Prince Amukamara, CB
Lots of places the 49ers could go, but CB seems the best pick here.
8. Tennessee Titans: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Might be high, but he looked really good in San Diego. Bud liked what Vince brought to the table. He has always liked QBs who can run and throw, like Warren Moon. With Fisher gone he goes for Cam.
9. Dallas Cowboys: Marcell Dareus, DE Alabama
Dallas has been looking for an upgrade to Marcus Spears and he falls into their lap.
10. Washington Redskins: Julio Jones, WR
Moss is likely gone and they need a WR to take pressure off the running game. Whoever the QB is will need to someone dependable. JJ could be that guy.
TRADE: Houston trades #11(1250) to Tampa Bay for #20(850), #52(380), and #180(20.4). Here are the numbers:Houston=1250, Tampa=1250.4
11. Tampa Bay: Cameron Jordan, DE, California
A great team last year that needed a top level DE. Desperate for an elite level DE they make the trade and try to take advantage of an NFC South in which the Panthers are a few years out and the Saints may be regressing.
12. Minnesota Vikings: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
A really fortunate guy. Minne is a great team and he will get a steady diet of handing the ball to AD until he gets his feet wet.
13. Detroit Lions: Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Lions need a SOLDIER to protect Stafford. Sorry, I couldn’t help it.
14. St. Louis Rams: Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri
Rams get lucky and a top DE drops into their laps.
15. Miami Dolphins: Justin Houston: OLB Georgia
While they could use a running back, Houston is a very good prospect at OLB who the Dolphins could use. Winning in the AFC East means putting pressure on Brady and Sanchez.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
They need passrushers and Kerrigan is a top 4-3 DE prospect.
17. New England Patriots: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
Gotta Protect Brady. Matt Light’s on his way out. Wisconsin Lineman are always solid. Could have gone with Pouncey Jr, but I don't think he is a 1st rounder.
18. San Diego Chargers: J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin
The perfect 3-4 DE for SD. GREAT value pick
19. New York Giants: Akeem Ayers, DE/OLB UCLA
To much value to ignore here. I don’t know if they will make him a DE or a OLB, but Perry Fewell can figure that part out.
20.Houston Texans: Phil Taylor, NT Baylor
A good spot for the monster NT. Htown has its NT of the future.
2. Quinton Carter, S, Oklahoma
A dynamic Safety who can start right away. He brings good hands, good coverage, and can even lay the wood when needed.
2. Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh
Value pick. A true #2 receiver. Good hands, Good speed, Good size, plus who could ask for a better role model than AJ?
3. . Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona
Hustle, Hustle, Hustle. That’s what led him to overwhelm the O line at the Senior bowl. We need some 3-4 OLBs to make this transition work.
4. John Moffitt, G/C, Wisconsin
A valuable O lineman who can play anywhere on the interior. He provides excellent depth and I am convinced can challenge for the spot in a year or less. Remember what I said about Wisconsin Oline, they are always solid.
5. Steven Friday, OLB, Virginia Tech
A potential sleeper OLB prospect. Good motor, quick, and can even cover a bit. More OLBs mean more pass rushers!
6. Nate Williams, S, Washington
Reminds me of Troy Nolan, he just seems to be around the football a lot.Good hands. This D could use him as a key backup/ST player.
6 Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama
He doesn’t turn the ball over, he hands off real well, and he makes solid throws. Accurate when he throws and does not throw very many INTs. A nice safe option to backup Schaub.
7. Anthony Gray, NT, Southern Miss
There is nobody else on the team to backup Taylor (since the draft happens before FA), so you have to draft appropriately. He could be good depth.
7. Derek Newton, OT, Arkansas State
Good size, but very raw. Needs some help. He will be a potential depth player down the line.
