Doppelganer Returns to DoppelMock: Version 2.0

Seems to me the "running QBs" are the ones taking the punishment.

Manning - 17 years 256 starts, 287 sacks, 1.12 sacks per start.
Brady - 15 years 207 starts, 364 sacks, 1.75 sacks per start.

Vick - 12 years 112 starts, 306 sacks, 2.73 sacks per start.

RGIII - 3 years 21 starts, 101 sacks, 4.8 sacks per start.
Wilson - 3 years 48 starts, 119 sacks, 2.48 sacks per start.
Kaepernick - 4 years 39 starts, 107 sacks, 2.74 sacks per start.

That's before you get to their rushing.

The punishment argument doesn't fly.

The game has evolved pro style QB's just don't survive, not going to say they lack toughness (storied fables of old school QB's certainly plentiful) but physics dictate size speed & strength of modern day football players has closed gap with any cerebral advantage that use to exist. Nowadays a QB better know how to extend plays without standing in pocket taking blow after blow!

Been hearing this my whole life. Ain't happened yet.

That's because the guys blocking have evolved too . A QB who is capable of getting a first down with his feet is handy but they employ guys to run . A QB's job is to pass the ball and if he can't do that he's not going to win or last .

For some reason, y'all think I mean athletic QB that naturally he is going to run for yardage instead of passing the ball, that can't be further from the goal, which is distribute the football by extended plays, AVOIDING contact & throwing as easily on the run as stationary traditional pocket passer.

Well hell why didn't you say so? QBs who can throw from the pocket or on the run like a pocket passer are a dime a dozen.

not that I really understand what you are trying to say but my point was that college QB's aren't taught read defenses and make adjustments. They are system guys that rely on the coaches to do all that for them. Hense why they are better off sitting for a couple of years learning the game.

Mallet sat out a couple years & learned under Brady, then he got his shot, totally mentally prepared but his body failed him. Point is everybody is different some do & some don't (badboy).

Totally disagree with you on this one, and I've been saying so for years. It's actually completely obvious that you have this backwards, at least to me. Maybe I'm the only one who feels that way.

I would argue the opposite. The size/speed/strength of the modern player is incredible and the cerebral advantage of the QB is the only thing that keeps them from getting killed. Because no matter how big or fast they are, the other guys are bigger and faster and repeated hits will end a QB's career.

The only way to sustain success is to get rid of the ball before they can hit you. Notice that the common trait that all the elite QBs share is not a certain size or a certain level of athleticism, it is the ability to make good decisions quickly.

I'm not disagreeing with you. What I am trying to say is "its a moving pocket, where not only does the QB apply his cerebral advantage he does it on wheels".
