Don't draft KC, TE Tony Gonzalez...

He is going under surgery on his foot, news say he will lost most part of the season, if not, the whole of it.

I can't find a link on this anywhere. If he can't provide a source, we'll delete this thread.

He might be confusing Gonzalez & Shockey. Here's some info on Shockey's foot from Yahoo news.
Jul 23 Giants tight ends Jeremy Shockey won't be ready for the start of training camp, but the rehab on his surgically repaired right foot is going well. Michael Eisen, writer and editor for the team's official web site, noted that Shockey would "hopefully" be ready "to practice about two weeks into training camp. His foot should be sufficiently strengthened so it will not be a worry during the season."

Views: It sounds like Shockey is right on his original schedule, so that's good news. Stress fractures can be tricky, but we're anticipating that Shockey will be ready for the regular season.

Since Gonzales is the elite player at that position it probably worht the risk to still take him. If the reports are wrong then you have the diference maker on your team. If he is really hurt then for the most part that TE you sign as free agent is going to pretty much the same quality as the 7th or 8th place guy.

Of course, this is less a concern if you are in league that drafts closer to the start of the season instead of the start of training camp.

Rotoworld is my favorite source for daily sports news and injury reports. Gonzo's name hasn't appeared, so all should be well with him as a draft pick.

This is what I have found from ESPN EDGE:

News: Gonzalez will continue to participate in just one of two daily practice sessions to rest his foot, the Chiefs Web site reports.

Gonzalez said that although his foot (stress fracture) healed improperly, he doesn't see the injury as a major problem. "They've got me on the one-a-day program which I am not complaining about," said the Kansas City tight end. "It is coming around. I am able to come out here and go full speed for one practice." He went on to explain that the condition should not prevent him from practicing. "As long as I go once a day, be smart about, put ice on it after practice and be smart about it to keep the inflammation out I will be fine," Gonzalez said. "That is basically what it is. I broke the bone and it healed, but healed up kind of crooked. Now it digs into the tissue. When I am on it a lot it fatigues out." Gonzalez's status is something to keep tabs on throughout training camp.

I hope what Gonzalez said, is accurate...a same type of injury kept Kearse out, and limited his movility.

Gonzalez needs to take care of that injury, because it can become worse.

Thanks to everyone else that posted something related to this.
