He has, as you know, been fired from head coach of our football team in Houston.
He is a very respected man through the leauge, and rightfully so. He stays consistent in his approach, and only focuses on the things he can control.
Dont feel sorry for Capers -- he wouldnt hear of it. He knows he gave this job his best shot and it just didnt work out. Plus, hell be a hot commodity as a defensive coordinator in the current escalating coaching market. Or perhaps Capers will take a year off and chill out with his wife, Karen, at his condo in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., which they purchased when he was Jacksonvilles defensive coordinator. Capers used to always joke that he knew the place had a view of the Atlantic Ocean, although he could never quite visually confirm it.
The Texans will miss Dom. Said Center Steve McKinney "Hes a class act, and to come in there and talk to us the way he did today, it was pretty amazing. You could tell he was a little emotional about the whole thing, as well as we were. We applauded him. I wanted to carry him off on my shoulders, but it just wasnt appropriate.
I wish Mr. Capers the best of luck where ever the future may take him, and I still belive he's a fantastic football person, and a great coordinator. Thanks for all the good memories Dom, you will truly be missed.
