Do you think...

Do you think that the Ownership/Management of this organization is taking too long getting our next coach??

The reason I ask is the Vikings fired Tice on the way off the field, got Childress the next week, and are already getting assistant coaches. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9157097

Where as we wait till late monday to let go of capers and now have a string of interviews.

I get this feeling we will just get who is left! Any one agree?

no not really i mean considering that many coaches season is not over and it would be dumb to go after the first guy available.

If reports are true and Kubiak is the man, they cannot announce anything until after Denver exits from the playoffs.

I think it is good that the Texans are taking their time and giving many people the opportunity to interview for the job.

At the same time, I don't like the reports that the Texans have already selected Bush before the combines and without visiting with any of the players.

We can announce that Kubiak is the coach even if Denver is still in the playoffs.

Romeo Crennel was named the head coach of the Browns and Charlie Weis was named the head coach of Notre Dame long before the Pats won the Super Bowl.

I agree with the first few responses so far, alot of good coaches are still trying to win in the playoffs. It is always a good idea to keep an open mind and look at alot of different indvidual coaching styles and possible remedies for our team. I think it will be worth the wait.

Even if Kubes isn't chosen (I think he will be) it is MUCH better to measure twice and cut once.

Incorrect, Crennel was announced coach on Feb 8th (Browns announce new HC), Superbowl was on the 6th (SuperBowl Recap). Weis does not matter, he went to the NCAA. It was known that Crennel had the job, it was just a formality.

Nope. I think we already have our coach and he just has to wait for his team to be eliminated from the playoffs before we announce it. I also think we may have our defensive coordinator and some assistants. It's all informal and nothing is carved in stone yet but I think we're going to do quite well in the coach hunting department.

It just looks like the Texans are moving slowly because a lot of things have to wait for that one event to take place while at the same time we're all eagerly anticipating some kind of decision or announcement about the #1 draft pick which we may not get until the day of the draft.

It's going to be a very long offseason.

I really could care less what other teams are doing .... especially if they dont do their DUE DILIGENCE in selcting a coach and just rush in and take the big name .... The only advantage they may have is picking up an assistant or two that they may not otherwise get ...

BUT If the Texans have already interviewed the person they want and said as much to him .... Im sure he's discussing with his potential staff the possibility of coming to Houston with him .

As for OFFICIALLY announcing a couch who is still in the employ of another team ... It IS AGAINST league policy . Said coach CAN NOT be named OFFICIALLY by the team until AFTER his current team exits the play-offs .

Who do you want a winner still in the hunt or one of the already fired or bounced from the play-offs ? :ok:

I could have sworn he was named before the SB, but I stand corrected. I guess I just remember it being leaked to the media that he would be with the Browns.

Let's pretend Dom Capers is an old beat up pickup. You decide to sell it. Now do you go out and buy the first thing you see or do you go shopping around for a good deal. Football isn't rocket science.

Well this is the first time this has ever happened, this might contribute to the long time finding a new coach.

It was prety much like it seems with Kubiak now. the "secret" that everyone knows.

And this is the #1 reason why you can't believe what ESPN is saying. First off they are talking about him coming to the draft because of us. Then he comes in and they say he isn't coming here because we want Bush. And then after they say he is such a great prospect they IMMEDIATELY start talking about why Leinart is a better QB than he is.:brickwall

So is Bill Walsh, one of the best talent evaluators in NFL history, part of this conspiracy?
