1. Wouldn't want to see him back in the SEC coaching against Ole Miss!
2. How many years does he have left on his contract? What would it say to other potential teams (nfl) if he were to leave early? Jump ship when he's finds something better instead of really wanting to be with the team for the long haul?
3. Alabama is a great Football team and program. But how many coachs have the run off since Bear? Too many. While alabama doesn't get the national media as some programs, it is high profile, the coach is constantly under scrutiny (moreso than most programs). It seems like a high stress job. If he has one bad season they'd be screaming to fire him and hire someone new.
Now Saban has had success at LSU and SEC opponent. I think they would give him some leeway (sp?) because of his past success but still.
I don't know if I would even though it is a great opportunity. High upside but low downside as well. Then again no nuts no blue chips!

colleges in their battles vs. the NFL.
Afterall, how many coachs have been induced to leave their college HC jobs
for an NFL job. And then there's all the college players that leave for the NFL
before they've complete their college eligibility.
Now maybe the colleges get some payback and out bid the NFL for one of its HCs ?

He'd be a fool not to.
1) He's a better college coach.
2) He gets 10 years JOB SECURITY.
3) $40 million.
Think about it... if the Dolphins miss the playoffs next year he's probably going to be canned, the NFL is so fickle with coaches... so why not take that deal?

nah, he's setup for a long time with huizinga. even if saban starts to REALLY suck after 4 years, he'll still be there. so 3 years is definitely not a possibility. no reason to think the team won't be improved next year anyway. should compete for the division.

I think he goes to 'Bama.
1) He IS a better college coach (like Steve Spurrier).
2) 10 years of job security (or, at least 10 years of pay) ain't nothing to laugh
about.
3) $40 mil speaks for itself.
*However, ask Glen Mason how fickle the college coaching scene is.
