Do you think Justin Fields is a top QB

Generic Fan

He's just this guy, you know?
I keep seeing this guy's name in lists of top QB's. It really seems way premature, and I don't see why this guy (in many cases) is getting more hype than guys like Justin Herbert.
Where do you think Fields ends up once his career is over? I project him in the same camp as guys like RGIII.

Being a Buckeyes fan, I have always liked and rooted for Fields.
The kid is very athletic and has always been a very good leader.
No, he has not had "elite" level success in the league to this point, but he has improved from his first to second year. A quick peek at his stats will show you that and then you add his 1000+ yard season rushing. Him and Lamar Jackson share some similarities.

That being said, if anyone pays attention to the Bears, their o-line has been one of the worst in the league since Fields was drafted. Their WR's have been some of the worst and last year Poles came over from KC to Chicago as the GM. This year, Poles bolsters the o-line, gets the WR corps in a much better spot and adds more talent. I think Fields continues to get better as he goes.

He's the next step in the Vick, Newton, Jackson development.

Hopefully he'll advance the cause better than Tebow, but you never know

I tend to agree with this. The Bears have made a real effort to get better in the passing game this offseason. We'll see if it pays dividends.

Bears fans should be excited. Fields, like Stroud has better WR's at Ohio State than in the NFL. Stroud's going to find this out soon.

Poles adding Moore, Claypool, Velus Jones and hopefully Mooney along with drafting Wright should give Fields all of the weapons he needs to be successful. Fantasy sleeper alert: Rochaun Johnson

I think he'll end up being the 2nd best QB from his draft class. Right now, I'd place him somewhere between 12-20. He has a legit shot of being a Pro Bowler in the NFC this year. If he was in the AFC, he'd have no chance of getting to the Pro Bowl.

He's been one of the worst passers in the league the past two years. Obviously people are thinking the Bears will help change that trajectory with the additions they've made. But how often does a guy go from truly bottom of the barrel to elite passer overnight? The smart money is on him being a great playmaker yet mid-level passer at best. A guy who will throw a lot of bad passes but then inexplicably convert a 3rd and 13 with his feet when you least expect it. Those guys are exciting but don't have long shelf lives

The only guy I can think of is Josh Allen.

He's around the 20 range right now. He really needs to develop as a passer if he wants to get another contract with the Bears.. If the Bears have a top pick again, they won't be passing on a QB.

I think people are confusing fantasy QB rankings for actual QB rankings. Fields has the rushing upside to be the top scoring fantasy QB any given week. But he needs to improve as a passer to win real life football games and be an elite QB. The Bears have made the investments necessary to get him there. Now its time to see if he’ll make that next step like Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.

Fields was lights-out at Ohio State and I'm talking about him throwing the ball. From what Bear fans have said, the Bears had a terrible OL and ZERO playmakers, outside of Justin.

Rightfully so, because the 2024 QB class is a really good QB class.

He has issues, but Chicago has ruined that kid. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if…….when he is shipped outta there he thrives somewhere else.

I never thought he was anything above avg at best. With that said, Lary Borom was his LT yesterday. The kid never stood a chance in Chicago. I could see them trading Fields and selecting a top QB in the 2024 QB draft.

Carr Syndrome is typically irreversible. Sack Shock is ugly, but even uglier was Testeverde Syndrome…..this one can lead to acute color blindness.

You don’t do what that kid did at OSU without having something there. He clearly wasn’t ready to lead let alone lead a dumpster fire that is the Chicago Bears franchise……Under the right coaching & scheme, appropriate time to sit on the bench and reflect …..& a little bit of maturity, Carr syndrome for a guy like him is absolutely reversible. Steve Young proved that long ago. Before him, Jim Plunkett. Today’s version of that is Geno Smith.

A lot of caveats. David Klingler, Sam Darnold, Carson Wentz, Blaine Gabbert. Some guys start seeing ghosts and never stop.

One of them was CJ publicly stating that he did NOT want to go to Chicago, because it was “Justin Fields’ team”. It’s public record.
That doesn't look like Fields doesn't want to play in Chicago to me.

Would be a good backup to CJ next year, though I imagine his ideal fit would be backing up in Baltimore. At least he can run. Zach Wilson can't even do that.
