Did Nelson's stock go up or down today?

He couldn't have posssibly hurt his stcok after that debacle, but he didn't show why he's the better of the 2 IMO.

the above are my thoughts exactly when i watched him. He's not instinctive like a FS needs to be to be successful. He's fast, but that alone won't get it on the next level, you've got to anticpate & "bait" the Qb a little at times. At least landry blew up the reverse (even though he didn't make the tackle) & made some plays. Nelson benefited from the fact that Florida's ends were running 100m sprints around OSU's tackles.

Nelson had twice as many INT's as Landry this year....

And Landry is surrounded by horrible talent....

Let's sauy the Texans are going to take a FS @ 8. I believe that whether it is Landry or Nelson is how much risk the Texans are going to take with pick.

First, I think both are going to be good pros, but I think that have different potential. Landry I think is the safest pick (he seems more NFL ready right now, probably due to the fact that he has started in the SEC for so many years). In fact, when he starts his rookie season, he could be better than most FS in the league, but his potential has a ceiling, and though I do think he could be a pro bowl FS, but not superstar status. While Nelson, who will be a solid pro, has the potential to be that superstar (but in the same token could also be just an above average FS).

I consider both an upgrade over what we have now. But consider our track record on Defensive players in the 1st round (I know it was under C and C), we have enough players that had potential to be in Babin, and TJ. I would lean toward more of the sure bet of Landry. I think we just need more really good solid players on our team. :twocents:

Both are great athletes & have pros & cons, but i like Landry b/c he seems more calculating & natural at the position & he plays a lot more under control as opposed to Nelson IMO. I also like Landry more b/c he seems better in run support than Nelson. (Can anyone say Bob Sanders?).

Above all, Landry's been making plays for years which = consistency, where's nelson been?

I dont know if i buy into the idea of "one has better potential than the other" , landry has been solid and great for four years, Nelson was awesome for one year, what really makes one have a bigger ceiling than the other? they are both going to be great. But i dont think nelson will be better cuz he has a higher ceiling. Look at DeMeco no one thought he had a high ceiling. really you never know, we really couldnt go wrong with either. i would want landry cuz he has done it longer.

I agree that if we do go for FS in the 1st round I would rather have Landry over Nelson. Landry is the proven thing, I dont want another 1 yr wonder like TJ.:twocents:
