One year left on his contract, probably doesn't make the team.

Totally agree. Would actually love if he pushed someone for a starting spot. Not sure how likely that is outside of Green though. It’s a competition. Of course if the season started today the guys practicing with the team would be ahead of Jones. But the competition will go on all season. And i’d say Jones is top backup by game 4 or so.
Not sure if joking but it would be pretty surprising if he didn't make the team

No, it was mentioned in the transaction thread and talked about in the transaction discussion thread.![]()

Not really but I did see this draft stock analysis of him from 247 sports from a few years ago. He looks like a warm body to me.Do you know the guy? Have any insight?
He has played NFL games for three seasons. A random attribute ranking from college is pointless. Not really but I did see this draft stock analysis of him from 247 sports from a few years ago. He looks like a warm body to me.

No harm in sharing... I think he was trying to say don't put all your faith in old pre-draft info for a vetSorry for sharing.
Thunder asked if I had any "insight". I said "not really" and shared that little nugget of information that I encountered. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished. No harm in sharing... I think he was trying to say don't put all your faith in old pre-draft info for a vet

I guess I'm still getting to know how y'all do things around here. It seems that some new players get their own thread and others don't. I only asked if I had missed it. Sorry. You can certainly delete this thread if it's a concern. Not this time of.
He was so shocked that there wasn’t a thread that he started a thread. I thought maybe this was a guy he was interested in that draft, followed his career maybe.
figured maybe he could give us a reason to get excited about this guy.
Yep. Insurance policy.I vaguely remember him from draft research, but I haven't followed his pro career. From what I've read of his pro career, he's been more or less "fair value" based on draft position. Getting a guy that can back up at three spots, can play LT longer term and not embarrass you if you lose your starter, and a guy from Houston...all for a swap of 7th for a 5th?
Someone talk me down from the 'praising Nick Casserio ledge' because I see little downside in this transaction. This is the sort of sneaky under-the-radar trade that could pay big dividends in the event of injury. I'm not 100% sure he is a great scheme fit, but he must be reasonably able to play within the scheme, or they wouldn't have pulled the trigger.
If you want to start a thread start a thread. Try to have a reason, don’t just start threads for the heck of it.I guess I'm still getting to know how y'all do things around here. Yea Porky you are turning into an insufferable Cassero fanboy before our very eyes - just kidding of course.I vaguely remember him from draft research, but I haven't followed his pro career. You're right. This stuff isn't worth discussing. This guy’s a nobody. I wouldn’t have started a thread for him.
It's still the offseason, anything football related is worth discussingYou're right. This stuff isn't worth discussing.
No need to act like a martyr… you posted a random set of college attributes and in the same post said, “He looks like a warm body to me.”Thunder asked if I had any "insight". I said "not really" and shared that little nugget of information that I encountered. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.Lesson learned.
Lol, dude you are disturbing folks without a life. Sorry you were tossed aside like trash. You're right. This stuff isn't worth discussing.
If you had offered free ribeyes, some here would complain you didn't tie a ribbon. SMHThunder asked if I had any "insight". I said "not really" and shared that little nugget of information that I encountered. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.Lesson learned.
It’s what we do.bickering before he even suits up
I honestly didn’t know how to take that post. I don’t givAdamn about a guy who started 21 games for a 5th round pick.Lol, dude you are disturbing folks without a life. Sorry you were tossed aside like trash.
I’m just trying to explain. Some guys get a thread. Some guys don’t. No set rules. But you’re not helping by starting a thread about a topic you have nothing to say about.Did I miss a thread on new Texan Josh Jones?
Delivered or pickup only?If you had offered free ribeyes, some here would complain you didn't tie a ribbon. SMH
I thought he was just asking a question which was easily answered. You're the one that escalated matters. But you’re not helping by starting a thread about a topic you have nothing to say about.
Right.I thought he was just asking a question which was easily answered. You're the one that escalated matters.
Yep.. that's my point.Delivered or pickup only?
The season will have to start before this can happen. Stingley is looking good in reports coming out of camp.Yea Porky you are turning into an insufferable Cassero fanboy before our very eyes - just kidding of course.
But I started out being very positive and open on Casserio but he's been on double-secret probation for me every since those baffling picks he made in the 2022 first round, so now it's time, past time actually for those high-picks to produce.
Yeah the question could have gone in an existing thread , yet we have had threads welcoming players with less potential. Maybe we can let Davis Mills ride off into sunset on this horse without us beating it to death.I honestly didn’t know how to take that post. I don’t givAdamn about a guy who started 21 games for a 5th round pick.
But I don’t run this place. I just try to maintain the peace.
yea, I understand my post can come across as harsh. I need to work on stroking egos.
Dude started this thread… @Buckeye Homer

Hey Steel I'm really pulling hard for the x-LSU corner and I hope he's a big-time playmaker for us this season, but re the other '22 first-round pick - yikes did you catch Green last night in NOLA because my hope for him is kinda fading. The season will have to start before this can happen. Stingley is looking good in reports coming out of camp.
I get this, Even if Stingley isn't as good as Sauce, if he can stay healthy he can be a top tier CB for a long time.Hey Steel I'm really pulling hard for the x-LSU corner and I hope he's a big-time playmaker for us this season, but re the other '22 first-round pick - yikes did you catch Green last night in NOLA because my hope for him is kinda fading.
That’s the problem with drafting him, he was oft injured in college.I get this, Even if Stingley isn't as good as Sauce, if he can stay healthy he can be a top tier CB for a long time.
Green wasn't healthy when he was drafted, got more hurt and had offseason surgery which affected his ability to workout. Although not in the best of shape strength wise, he looked like he had improved this TC/preseason. Then he got hurt again last night. It's beginning to look like a trend. Any word on the severity of his latest injury?
Define oft injured. I believe he started every game for 3 yearsThat’s the problem with drafting him, he was oft injured in college.

So you don't have any faith in Kendrick Green or Michael Deiter? Or James Patterson? No one had any faith in Chris Meyers at first eitherWell, it looks like whether we're talking about Green or Stingley the Texans are going through the same growing pains they always have. Draft or sign promising players and watch them sit on IR for weeks (or even seasons) at a time. Right now is about the time Mike Holovak would have gone out and shaken a few trees to find a promising center like for instance Jim Romano or maybe even Charlie Casserly would have gone and grabbed a Steve McKinney (or Rick Smith finding Chris Meyers). There's a guy out there somewhere right now who could come in and solidify the OL and fix this problem. You think Stroud is going to be the guy? You really believe in him? Then go slightly over pay for the guy you need to make it happen because you trot out a JAG to hold the middle together and you might as well be signing up for another damaged rookie who is gone in four years.
If Stroud can't survive for 4 games before Scruggs and Howard make it back then that's on Stroud. Mills had less to work with last year and he survivedWell, it looks like whether we're talking about Green or Stingley the Texans are going through the same growing pains they always have.
