Is that what I'm hearing on the radio?

I didn't watch the game, but I've got an talk show host saying Brady was replaced due to being ineffective...

I bet Mallet is kicking himself in the butt now.

I'm not sure if they pulled him for being ineffective or because the game was out of reach.

But Garappolo came in and led them to a TD going 6/7. Which may say more about Garappolo than it does about Mallett, hopefully.

Who would have thought Brady's backup would get more playing time than Fitzpatrick's backup?

It was 41-7 in the 4th when he got pulled.

Could have been either since both were true.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing last night. KC put a massive beatdown on NE last night. This was a case where the beatdown was actually worse than the ugly score.

yeah i'm thinking it was both. brady was getting pounded and had just thrown a second interception that resulted in another chiefs score. it was ugly from the coin toss, which made it a lot of fun to watch for me lol.

Garrapallo threw a few short passes where Lefell took off down the field on a play where KC completely gave up and wasn't hardly playing. It wasn't like he diced them all down the field. Without that one play where the KC defense was standing around, that maybe doesn't happen.

The OL in new England is a disaster, but it doesn't absolve Brady. His passer rating on snaps NOT under pressure: 83.0

Signature Stat: In the Patriots’ two victories this season Brady has a +4.7 overall grade, in their two defeats his overall grade is down at -6.6.

Brady has entered his decline phase and it's showing (hell, he's 37 years old!). His reactions are slower, his arm strength is not what it once was, and his accuracy is off because he tries to push the ball to compensate.

Now more than ever he needs to be surrounded by talent to supplement his fading skills and so that he can rely on other players to relieve the burden. And what does he have? A bottom 5 OL, zero WR's that can separate (and apparently only 1-2 that can actually catch), an injured TE with no depth behind him, and a stable of backs who get no help from the coaching staff.

There is no talent on that offense. Ridley would be talented if he could hold onto the ball. Vereen would be talented if he actually got the ball. Gronkowski is talented but can't stay on the field. Edelman isn't talented and is somehow the only weapon. It's painful to watch the Pats give this guy no help after he carried them for so long.

Why would Mallet be kicking himself in the butt?

I really admired him in his prime and the fact that he wasn't a chosen one, like Manning or Luck. He caught a break and made the most of it.
I almost feel sorry for the guy...
...until I remember he's got three rings, is quite rich, and is married to a super model. Then any semblance of sympathy evaporates.
:D
I still admire what he's done though.

I'm not ready to axe Brady. But those 2 INT's he threw were definitely an ominous sign of a decline. It was like he never saw the lurking Db's in the WR path. He maybe make those throws 2 or 3 times a year, not in one game.

Yep, it's about that time. Time for the Patriots to go back to being the lousy Patriots that we grew up with and loved.

The pats longtime OL coach Dante Sarneccia retired this offseason and guys who have been good in years past (Nate Solder, Sebastian Vollmer) just look like absolute trash now. Brady is declining, yes, but his OL went from above average to one of the worst in the league in an offseason and its definitely affected the entire offense. Brady can't hide garbage WR's when he's getting about a second or two from snap to sack/hurry.

This thread is pretty funny. I hope some of y'all don't quit your day jobs to be football analysts.
