Desean Jackson

I like Jackson alot. Even though he is a diva and a baby he does produce and he's in his prime. The problem is he is expensive.

Jackson is a gamebreaker but he's also a one-dimensional player, very expensive, and a locker room trouble maker.

I was listening to ESPN radio while driving last night and heard them address the rumor of Jackson possibly being shopped. I doubt it would be a good financial fit to the Texans, but the WR concerns with the TExans would be put to rest...

I didn't realize we have concerns at wr. Are there any position we're not concern about? Jesus, how did we even win two games last season?

Wr were the only position that has allowed me to get a good night sleep this off-season. Thanks a lot dude. Now I'll lay my head with doubts pressing down on me.

LOL.. you are right, WR rates low overall and concern may have been tongue in cheek, so, don't loose any more sleep as a result. I just heard the talk of his potential availability and pondered the thought of Dre, Nuk and D-jax. What a stable. But the expense would surely detract from areas of real need.

Absolutely can't stand Jackson.

I'd be lying if I said he wasn't a good player. But I don't want him on my team.

Just a hunch, but I don't see WR as being a position with many holes. We have many of other positions that have huge holes throughout our team that need attention

That said, I agree with bah. I'd add....he's a dumbass

He must be as bad as his rep if Kelly wants away from him after the year he just had.

I read a report, I think it was on rotoworld, that after their season ended he asked for a new contract, even though he got one less than a year ago that pays him more than $10M per year...

Another Aaron Hernandez? Worth a read...

DeSean Jackson's gang connections troubling to Eagles
...sources close to Jackson and within the Eagles' organization say, it's Jackson's off-field behavior that concerns the front office. A bad attitude, an inconsistent work ethic, missed meetings and a lack of chemistry with head coach Chip Kelly are the reasons, sources told NJ.com. And when the Eagles looked more deeply into why Jackson was missing meetings, they found that his friends were becoming a more powerful -- and negative -- influence in his life.

Now the Eagles have even more serious concerns -- Jackson's continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members who have been connected to two homicides since 2010.

Ever since New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder last summer, NFL franchises have been reevaluating how closely they needed to watch their players away from the field. And what Eagles executives see in Jackson, a six-year veteran, is apparently a potential blight on the brand and a bad influence in the locker room.

As a source within the Eagles organization, who requested anonymity, put it: "They are concerned about having him around the younger players."

THE FIRST SIGNS

DeSean Jackson was nowhere near the scene of the crime when, on Dec. 29, 2010, 14-year-old Taburi Watson flashed a rival gang sign at two men as he rode his bicycle through South Los Angeles.

The men, reportedly members of the Crips, responded to the teen's provocative gesture by shooting him multiple...

After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today.

So we get a 6th round pick for Pick 6 Matt and the Eagles have to our right cut Desean Jackson?

Rick Smith is sooooooo pimp!

DeSean, Bill..... how'd you like to be a Patriot?

DeSean Jackson at 27 years old is now a free-agent.

He had career highs of 82 Rec, 1,332 yds, 9 Rec TD in 2013 for Philadelphia.

Extremely rare to see 27-year-old player released after career-best season. Great talent, but big-time red flags on DeSean Jackson. #Eagles

Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider
It sounds like, based on the http://NJ.com story, that the Eagles were trying to avoid a potential Aaron Hernandez situation

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer
The Eagles will carry $6 million in dead money after releasing DeSean Jackson. Saves them $6.75 million in cap space for 2014.

Did their GM even try to shop him? I highly doubt that he wasn't able to get even a 5th round pick for a guy who is a game breaker and 3 year $30 mill contract is quite reasonable for a team to take on for a guy of his talent.

I don't see him as a possibility here at all.

I think the Cowboys might take a look at him.

Cali teams better beware.

Dude definitely has some gang affiliations.

They tried. Teams just didn't want to get Hernandez'ed

Not if he is not going to be there to play.

They shopped him but nobody was willing to give anything up. His price tag this year was going to be $10.7 million and he has 3 years left and is unwilling to restructure. He also reportedly demanded a raise this offseason because he had a good year. Not many teams willing to take on that contract with his red flags.

Well that and he was throwing up Crip gang signs on instagram and during televised games.

Crips are everywhere. Doesn't matter if he's in Cali or Minnesota.

Bengals, Cowboys, Raiders come to mind. Teams can protect themselves with the right contract, and knowing about Jackson going in makes a big difference.

Desean Jackson has a couple friends that were on trial for murder. He throws up gang signs all over the place. His record label Jaccpot is spelled with two C's because crips don't put "c" and "k" together because it stands for crip killer.

He throws up the rollin 60's crips sign in games and then he'll say good win.."keep it rollin"...

Desean Jackson is from California smart guy.

Let me connect the dots for you....Closer to home...Closer to old friends...closer to the negative element...

His friends that were on trial for murder weren't from Minnesotta. The murder didn't happen in Philly.

And just so you know, yes there are gangs everywhere, but it's on a different level in some places in California.

Hey smart guy.. If gangs are everywhere then so are the rival gangs. Desean doesn't have to be close to "old friends" in order to get into trouble.. He can be plugged in any city he goes to just for being a known crip.

Yeah all those teams in LA should be very concerned. Regardless, it doesn't matter. It's a family. He'll be accepted anywhere.

Why do you think he, RFC, was just with Nipsey Hussle, RSC? Maybe they were exchanging CC Cookie recipes.

DeSean Jackson: 'I am not a gang member and to speculate and assume that I'm involved in such activity is reckless and iresponsible'

Earlier story that may weave into this... not many good reasons to need that much cash.

Police Investigate Burglary At DeSean Jackson’s Home
January 11, 2014
Burglars stole $200,000 in cash, other valuables and a gun from the home of the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

At least four teams reached out to DeSean Jackson’s agent, Joel Segal, in first 30 minutes after he was relesaed. Talks ongoing.

Has to be something else dropping on this. Eagles supposedly concerned about lingering liability of trading him to another team -- what did you know & when did you know it? Has to be more, imo...

Assuming Deseans ties to a gang are false or at worst just as an aquiantence I could see him landing with CAR, KC or CHI.

Well, he's a 5'10 195 pound WR, who makes a lot of dumb mistakes and drops balls more than you would like. It can't be that hard to replace him, he's not even close to elite status. This draft has a TON of great WR prospects, so I can see Philly picking up a few to work with Foles.

Plus, cutting Djax saved Philly at least 6.5 million this year. His contract was pretty steep, so that gets them out of paying him in the future. I think it was the right move, if they are truly concerned with his character.

Sal Paolantonio reports Jackson was cut due "to poor work habits, missed meetings, and lack of chemistry with HC Chip Kelly." Eagles had been trying to trade him for 2 months -- their concerns were heightened after the $200,000+ burglary at his house he reported. Eagles lawyers have read team officials the "riot act" as they fear litigation. -- ESPN

Even smaller, 175 lbs. Was 169 at Combine, 4.35 40.

That's because he weighed in without diamonds on his neck.
