Davis Tull is a 4-time all American football player for the Div 1 FCS University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs. The Mocs were back to back Southern Conference champions from 2013-2014. Tull played DE/LB and started a school record 48 straight games. As a freshman in 2011 he was voted to the All-freshman conference team as well as the College Sports Journal FCS freshman all-American team.

In his sophomore season he recorded 12.5 sacks and 19 TFL's breaking school single season records for both. He was voted a first team all-American by Walter Camp and AFCA and multiple fan sites. He received second team all-American recognition from the Sports Network and Associated Press. He was also voted Defensive player of the year for the conference by the coaches and media and won the school's male athlete of the year award.

Coming into his junior year Phil Steele ranked Tull as the number 1 defensive end and number 7 overall player in the nation for FCS. During the Mocs game against Furman that year Tull had 3.5 sacks and 2 FF and was named national defensive player of the week by the Sports Network. He led the UTC Mocs to a co-conference championship and after the season was voted a consensus first team all-American by every major publication, making Tull the first consensus all American in school history. He broke the school's all time sack record and was again voted the conference defensive player of the year by the league's coaches. He was awarded the elite defensive end award from the CPFA and also became UTC's first academic all-American in football by having above a 3.5 GPA in Exercise Science. He finished his junior season as a finalist for the Buch Buchanan award, given annually to the top defensive player in FCS. He is UTC's all-time sack, TFL, and forced fumble leader and is seen as a prospect for the 2015 NFL draft.

Tull is the SoCon’s all-time sack leader with 37.0. He was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014, becoming the second player in SoCon history to be named defensive player of the year three times; the first was Appalachian State’s Dexter Coakley from 1994-96.[1] He was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award in both 2013 and 2014.[2]

Houston was at his pro day but did not meet with him. 42.5 vert 4.57

For those who don't know Davis Tull, he's a 6'2, 246lb's rush linebacker that projects to the OLB position in a 3-4, obviously something we're looking for. He's a three time southern conference defensive player of the year and finished his senior season with 10.5 sacks and 18 tackles for a loss. He's a relentless, powerful, stocky competitor who plays at 100mph from the first snap to the last snap. He has some pass rushing moves and plays with fantastic hand usage.

However, he's played against inferior competition his entire career. I always say you can only beat the man put in front of you but the men who lined up across from Tull were generally poorer. His arms are relatively short and he can get tied up at times. He has played defensive end for UT-Chattanooga with very little experience standing up but will need to do so at the next level.

Apparently Tull looked very good in linebacker drills yesterday and ran a 4.57 40 yard dash.

He's an intriguing prospect because of his motor, technique and college production, the Jets are taking a good look as they should and if they see the talent and value for selection, then why not.

I know nothing about Tull

Interesting prospect though.

Great white hope, hustle guy, an overachiever, maybe a Billy type football kinda player ?
Not very impressive measureables, but very quick and explosive with 42" Vert and 11' BJ at Combine. And a real hustle guy with good quicks who might give us some help from the edge ? Coming off an injury, so I'm thinking 3rd round for us if he's there ?

At 6' 2"+ and 245 or so pounds that's not too bad, but with a 4.57 forty, 42" vert, and 11' broad jump, he's going to get a lot of looks as a 3-4 OLB. Sure, that's not Clowney or Mercilus size but it's doable. Just not sure if that's what RAC is looking for.

Roman Phifer 6'2" 248 lbs 4-3 OLB for 1st SB with RC.
Tedy Bruschi 6'1" 247 lbs 3-4 OLB for 2nd SB with RC.

Chaun Thompson 6'2" 250 lbs 3-4 ROLB in Cleveland for RC.
Matt Stewart 6'3" 232 lbs 3-4 LOLB in Cleveland for RC.
Kamerion Wimbley 6'3" 245 lbs ROLB in Cleveland for RC.

I'm a Clowney fan, now of course you may wonder why ? Does this mean I think he' gonna be what we thought we were getting back last year when we drafted him? Nope most likely we will never see that guy, sadly he's gone for ever; but maybe we get lucky with him and he ends up being a contributor to our pass rush though not the elite edge-rusher we expected originally. Given all of the other needs we have beginning with QB and going all the way to needing help on both the defensive and offensive lines and then WR and probably also in the defensive backfield. In other words with all of our other needs lets not make a higher Draft investment in an edge-rusher than a mid-rounder in this Draft because because maybe there's a chance our fortunes partially turn around with Clowney . OK I admit and I won't deny it, quite a bit of pure hope on my part here, that's true, but this time next year we should have a clearer view of how much if any he can help us ?
