I think if Carr turns out to be like any of those guys you should be happy about it. You're definitely setting the bar pretty high with those choices! Granted, Warner's not the player he was a few years ago, but you're still talking about a former MVP and a guy who chased a few single-season passing records...

Regarding Couch, his statistics drive home my point. You are looking for improvement. A young quarterback should continue to progress each of his first 4 or so years. The fact that Couch regressed in his third year was an indication of trouble. Carr, like Aikman, has taken significant steps forward each of his three seasons.
Actually the third year is often a big year in the jump of a QB. I pulled it up awhile back, and don't want to it again, but guys like Brooks and Hasselbeck (who i often compare Carr to) jumped in QB rating from the high 70s/low 80s to like high 80s in the third year starting.
While I think the Troy aikman comparison interesting, it is flawed as an example to point to the fact that the numbers are similar, so the 2nd person is on a similiar track.

I think Carr is going to be fine and you know what, I can't prove it. He has to do it on the field in the next ten years. Believe in him, don't believe in him, or just watch. I agree with AT when he says you can pull what you want to out of comparisons. It's just nice to be able to say "you know what, this guy struggled early and he turned out alright." I think it just adds a little perspective for people who think everyone should be Ben Roethlisberger.

And I still think that, assuming his shoulder can be repaired (and we all know how that can go) he has a place in the NFL. The best thing that could happen to Tim Couch IMO if he can regain his health would be the "Steve Young Plan". He needs to go sit behind someone for a little while and learn that teams offense inside and out. Then he could slide into the starting role a few years from now and quite likely excel. It's a shame his shoulder was so torn up because Green Bay would have been perfect for him. He would have probably sat behind Favre for two or three years, maybe four.
