David Carr Transition Tag

CyberTexan

Waterboy
Was wondering why we havent slapped a transition tag on Carr to let him test the market ? reason i ask is because Texans stand to pay him alot of money more than what he is worth to other Teams in my opinion . Wouldnt this be the best thing to do right now ? that way if we do decide to keep him it will probably be for alot less money because i dont think he will get an offer of what he stands to make. That way it also gives us the option to do a sign-and-trade deal with Carr and another team.

I dont think many GM's around the league have given up on Carr like many if not most of the fans around here have .... I think it would probably be a mistake $$$ wise to transition Carr .

Given an O-line that can consistantly give him time and another weapon or two to throw to (TE and #2WR) . I think he can be as good as any in the league right now ..... It may not happen overnight but I seriously think he will turn the corner .:twocents:

NFL hasn't released the franchise or transition tag numbers, yet. There are a handful of teams that would give Carr a better contract than the extension he has with the Texans. Without compensation due with the transition tag, it would be a pointless exercise. Either extend Carr, sign him to longer, more cap friendly deal, or let him walk.

well I thought about all that , but Carr is from a 2 and 14 team I know the online is in need of some help but is all that because of the Oline ? I dont think it is i think alot is Carr as well , I like Carr dont get me wrong but to me it seems he has a bad habit of not looking off defenders and being to slow to decide , other than that I think he has a great arm and is very mobile and accurate at times

Remember how the Texans were touting P-Bust's draft grades when justifying the trade with Oakland? They aren't the only team that does that. NFL teams trust their own evaluations and their own coaches. There are plenty of teams that believe this Carr can be fixed by the right mechanic.

I totally agree with them i think he can be fixed just needs a tune up after all the shell shock hes had LOL , But I just think we might be able to get him cheaper with a transition tag and also buy us more time to decide what to do
