David Carr or Trent Green

Here's a tough one...David Carr or Trent Green this weekend.

I went with Carr last weekend, and he scored over 40 points to Green's 29.
But now they play each other.

A little help please.

I would take David. He has been playing fairly well and Trent hasn't. Could have a breakout in the home game, but I doubt it. Sure hope I am right on that.

I'd have to say go with David. The main reason would be that KC could be without Holmes and Kennison. That means 2 less recievers for Trent to throw too. Not to mention that the team appears to be having some internal conflict with their 2nd year RB Larry Johnson after responding to the remarks Vermeil made. Carr, on the other hand, will still be able to complete a fairly high percentage of his passes with DD still in there. Also, he still has all of his WRs to challenge the secondary. Generally I'd take the home team, but this seems to be an odd scenario.

Last week was a career high for Carr.

That's true, on the other hand, the last two weeks have been career lows for Green and his splits are miserable in the 2nd half--36% completions and passer rating of 28.1. He also hasn't thrown a TD this year, has thrown 2 picks, has now lost his top WR/deep threat and his safety valve Gonzo is evidently hobbled. Normally I would agree that Green is the safer pick, but with everything he is working against I just don't know that this is a great break-out week even against the Texans D. On the other hand, if the Chiefs do play to their normal form on O and put us behind, they still have a bad D and Carr should be playing catch-up and getting trash time stats.

One other side note that I just heard on NFL Live. Apparently David Carr sat out of practice with a stomach flu. I'm not sure how much it will effect him come Sunday, but it's something else to think about. I'd still go with David Carr on this one. On a side note, this will be the first week in which I don't have a player on the other team playing for one of my fantasy team. Week 1 I had Gates who helped me get a win in my FFL, and in Week 2 I had Roy Williams getting a start and he helped me get a narrow win against Vinny (Deshuan Foster going for 175 as my WR/RB didn't hurt either). Perhaps this week I'll lose my fantasy game (almost a given) and the Texans will win against the Cheifs.

Given Green's "lackluster" performances thus far, I'd have to take Carr this week. KC's defense may be the worst we'll face all year. It's still a toss-up, but the Texans offense looks a little better (on paper at least) for the moment. :twocents:

Go with Green.

He is behind the best oline in the league, it doesn't matter if your throwing to better WR's if your oline can't block

Chiefs still have Tony G, and with morton back that opens more up in the passing game.

Also dante hall might be over his John Lynch Brain scramble :yap

Larry Johnson and Derrick Blaylock can run behind that line, it's not going to be hard to establish the run for them against the texans. As for the cheifs D. It's terrible, so Trent is going to be putting it up.

I don't even know why this is a question really....

Perhaps this is why....

Rank Player Team Yds Att Cmp TDs Ints Long Rating
6 David Carr HOU 542 59 42 2 3 54 89.8
19 Trent Green KC 361 66 33 0 2 57 53.9 :um:

heh, this will probably sound crazy to most, but I am actually starting Carr over Favre this week. Neither is playing a strong defence, so typically i wouldnt hesitate to start Brett, but Favre has really let me down these past two weeks and I feel the the matchup for Carr against KC's defense shouldnt be that bad. On the negative side, they'll be @ Arrowhead so Carr wont be able to hear a damn thing

I thought we were going to be in a shoot out and was wrong...but fantasy football isn't real football and TD's rule the day. Green was the play today. 3 TD's to 1.

Hope you played Green....but thank goodness we won!

Think how happy I am. I have Farve and Manning as my starting QBs. Manning had over 200 yards in the first quarter, and Farve had 180. I believe Manning now has 3 TDs and Farve has one or two. Makes up for having DD and Stecker as my starting RBs. Doesn't hurt having Roy Williams starting either :D

BTW Since I didn't have a KC player starting for my FF team I now know the key to the Texans winning.

Wth....this thread is well over a year old
How is it near the top of the forum without being topped?

We had a poster who has been muzzled who topped it.

Its somewhat funny reading through before people hated on David Carr...those were the good days, when 2-14 had stripped people of their optimism

Capers wanted to win by 3-4 he always believed that if we scored 10 thats all we needed, his D would hold...thats why he's gone
