Daquan Jones - Penn St. DT

76Texan

Hall of Fame
To preface, here's the depth chart of the Nitanny Lions last year:
http://bwi.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp

Notice that at one of the DT position, #99, 84, and 88 are lighter than the guys at the other spot: 91, 53, and 72 as a group.

The heavier group actually lines up mostly as a 3Tech when I watched Penn St.
The lighter group lines up at the NT position (when they have a lineman over the Center.)

Daquan Jones is listed at 6'3 - 318lbs by CBSSports, and rated at 66 overall.

We might be looking at a guy who will eventually replace the Ninja right there.
I read that the coaches actually taught Jones to have a proper diet and he had lost ten pounds since last year.

There are clips of him against Syracuse and Nebraska on Draftbreakdown.
See what you guys think about him.

If they stay in 3-4, I like McCuller of the Vols as a 3rd rd pick. I watched the entire game vs bama and they couldn't move the guy. I'm talking jones, womack and crew. I also seen the guy make plays on the sideline. He has a good pad level for such a big man.

I think Jared Crick will be the replacement for Ninja.

if anyone replaces smith it will be jamison, i think he could be a really good player in crennels D (thats if he becomes our DC)

I was thinking of taking DaQuan Jones in the 2nd or 3rd round of my latest mock draft. We could put him at NT, thus freeing up Mitchell to play DE and Crick would be a rotational backup at both DE spots or come into the game when we line up in some 4-3 formations.

We've got so many holes that I think we need to find players that allow us to fix 2 positions with 1 pick, like taking a new OLB freeing up Reed to move to ILB.

That's been dissected in depth and detail several times though. The pro move camp says he'd be better there because he sucks a OLB. The con camp says too drastic of a move since he started with his hand in the dirt and the reads are entirely different than the football muscle memory/key reading etc. that he's developed since, well forever. All just factless based opinions, or some merit to one or both? idonno:

I hope Mitchell is gone. He is trash. He couldn't get penetration or make plays while playing next to Watt. What makes anyone think he's going to be any better playing opposite of Watt?
