San Diego tendered him as a RFA but only as an original tender. He was undrafted so this tender carries no draft pick compensation. He went undrafted because of a knee injury at the Senior Bowl. He would have been a mid-round pick if not for the injury.

He would be an excellent #2 WR if he can stay healthy. That is a big issue with him, but it might be worth the risk.

We should offer him a good contract that San Diego might not match and see what happens. If they decline then we could cut or restructure Walter.

This guy is a top of the line #2 WR if he's healthy. Line him up across from Andre and that's lethal.

I'm not interested in cutting Walter for a 5 knee surgery gamble. I don't think Walter's production is a problem (he should be a 3rd option not WR2) it is his contract. To easy to replace him with a draft pick and still cut Walter.

Not interested if we can see if he keeps healthy. However, I do disagree, Walter's production is a problem because we don't have a consistent #2 option and no other veteran.

A relatively cheap WR like Hixon/Alexander/Rames-Barden/Brandon Gipson and drafting a WR like Hunter/Rodgers in the 1st or Swope in the 2nd would fix the continuing WR problems.

If we could get him on a split contract for minimum, sure go for it. Otherwise, no.

And San Diego did put a restricted tag on him - just not one requiring any draft picks in return, so I would think it's a very high probability that a bargain contract gets matched, and the only thing the team offering it accomplishes is negotiating a contract for the Chargers.

The focus on a vet WR is overblown imo for a WR2. By receptions, OD a vet was second target with 103 targets. He just didn't catch very well. His misses (41) were exactly Walter's receptions. Still he was #2 target with Walter being 3rd. If Matt continues with AJ then OD, a draft pick could replace Walter as third option.

I'm a big fan of Hixon. Guy is severely underrated. Giants have been loaded at WR the past few years so he didn't get on the field as much as he should have.
