CUT Carr

I have always liked David Carr but he looks shell-shocked to me! I think the poor guy has been sacked so many times that he seems to expect it on every pass play.
you'd be shell shocked too if you've been sacked 170 times in 3 seasons.

By the way , what happened to my thread in the help zone about censorship ? ... that thread wasnt just locked but completely deleted ... which i dont appreciate
I donno, I'd have to see who moved it and read the thread myself. I'll do that later, but the best way to fix something is to PM someone who can help instead of jumping to a bunch of conclusions.

For the most part the replies on this thread were intelligent answers and non-combative
You don't know what we delete....you only see the posts that are within the rules. (just read your thread)

You act like Carr is some chunk of metal, a product sitting on an assembly line with no independent will or power of it's own. In case you didn't notice, Carr was pathetic on his own. He didn't need any help being bad. He was plenty bad on his own. If you can't see that, I submit you really don't know much about football.

If you can't see that no QB in NFL history could succeed with this offensive line, I submit that you don't know much about football.

And I say that we test this hypothesis by starting Dave Ragone next week. That way if we beat the Steelers and he does well we all win (except David Carr) but if he gets destroyed by the Steeler D then we still have Banks alive in one piece to keep backing up the vindicated David Carr.

"Bust" is probably not accurate but I'd certainly consider benching him for a few games and see what happens. This is not a playoff season so experimenting is ok.
Yes Yes and Yes. Bench him. Let him know were serious. Then let him realize his job is on the line and get out there to provide some real plays. Even with a ****** line he can do a little better then he is. Worked for Favre.

all you :homer: who think Carr is blameless for this loss need to actually watch the game, with your eye's open. Carr had a very nice pocket to throw his second INT into triple coverage from. On his first INT he was outside scrambling, but made a ROOKIE mistake of a) not looking downfield when the receiver WAS actually open and b) throwing across his body while running which almost always results in an INT.

The fumble, I'll give that one to the O-line not stopping the rush. The 3rd INT I will even be generous enough to think Carr was trying to score and forcing a bad pass to do so.

Carr is NOT a rookie. Stop treating him like he still is, even though he plays like one most of the time.
You must have been watching a different game than me because Carr did not have a good pocket more than five times the entire game :brickwall :brickwall :brickwall

He had the same oline last year and had decent numbers. Dont forget we just played the Bills defense.

just for the record, point out in my post where I even tried to count how many times Carr had a pocket around him. I said,
Carr had a very nice pocket to throw his second INT into triple coverage from.
which is a quite true statement.

Heck I will even admit that it was one of the VERY few times during the game that he did actually have a pocket around him.

But on THAT interception you can't blame the line for not holding off the rushers, Carr simply threw an interception. Don't sugar coat it, or try and say he was rushed into the throw or any of the other myriad of excuses the Carr Lovers like to hide behind. That one was squarely on Carr's shoulders.

As was his first INT., IMHO. He should know by his FOURTH year as a QB, which throws are simply NOT smart throws. That was a dumb throw. Plain and simple. He made dumb decisions and they resulted in INT's. He has always done these exact same things and yet the Carr HOMERS on here can't, or simply WON'T see it.

Not Carrs fault we cant block or catch or turn our heads (eh #86)
I don't think blocking was the issue Carr, just simply holds the ball forever...waiting for AJ to get open, he doesn't even glance at his other options...I think Gaff got so use to it he didn't bother to look back on that one play.

As long as they pulled it together for teams we "should beat" (not sure if thats anyone at this point...) and keep it a little more respectable against the good teams, I think we can pull together to .500 or so. There's no way the team keeps up this garbage show...

I wouldn't doubt it, Carr has regressed awfully...I say give Ragone a shot, maybe he'll wake up and realize his honeymoon is over, its time for him to MAN up or he can go model for some magazine if he's not ready to step up.

Dude (David Carr) is shot... mentally. He's been a deer in headlights since the Denver game last year. This coaching staff has succeeded in breaking a potentially very good quarterback. Now it's time to bring in some coaches that he can trust to protect him and provide a system with some hope of producing.

The next step in the process... the coaching staff will start blaming Carr for all of the problems as they scramble for their jobs.

Did you not watch the game, Carr is the problem...don't blame this one on the O-Line, he couldn't read a defense if the opposition gave him a book. He holds the ball way too long...

before we cut Carr let him call his own plays I doubt he runs every time on 1st down. the Texans have moved the ball in the past by passing effectivly to run the ball. does anyone remember last years season opener? everyone was ready to cut Domanick Davis. the play calling sucks plain & simple, its not gonna work against a solid defense like the Bills especially up front, you have to attack vertically down the field and challenge the db's and Palmer refused to give Carr the opportunity. it was a no win situation from the start of the game despite the defense bending but never breaking

Did you not read my post? I specifically stated that the guy is shot.

Carr is absolutely part of the problem. He has no confidence and no idea how to run this "offense".

It is the coaches that have created this situation by beating the crud out of him for 3 years.

I think he saw the game just fine. Carr is the problem.....now. After three years of being the entire NFL's punching bag he's a mess and yeah, he is the problem a lot of the time. Instead of developing like a normal QB David Carr has regressed and now, after all this abuse he's making the mistakes that obviously come from a career spent running for his life and looking up from the dirt.

The offensive line did not give Carr consistent time to throw. If you think that's true then there's nothing I or anyone else can do for you. You live in your own little world.

When Carr did have time he wasted it. Anyone who thinks that's not true is equally deluded and hopeless. Carr makes stupid mistakes. As you said he can't read a defense to save his life. He throws the ball away from between the tackles. He runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage. He still hasn't figured out how to slide correctly. He looks at AJ and then DD, then scrambles or takes a sack depending on the circumstances at the time.

How did he get here? Easy, he's been "developed" in our patented Houston Texans system. Remember Chris Palmer? The "genius" who developed such QB legends as Drew Bledsoe, Rob Johnson, and Tim Couch? David Carr is a product of his handywork.

He wasn't this way when he got here (completely) and you would expect these things to improve. They haven't. Lay that at the feet of whoever you think is responsible but that's the way it is.

He had better protection in that first game against Dallas. He also was much more confident and people actually seemed to be open for him to throw to. Some teams adjust over the years and others fall behind. This team hasn't done much evolving.

:ouch: First , is'nt Carr out of the Tedford line of QBs of Dilfer ,Volek ,Carr , Boller and Rogers .

I think they should go to the no huddle offense and let Carr play for a while . If you give up now Ragone better be capable of carrying a team or we're back to the drawing board .
