Cowboys have more problems

Ahhh...my work wont let me pop up the link, but I'm guessing that Carter has filed a grievance.
Correct me if I am wrong.
 
The word was already out that he had a poor attitude towards Vinnie and that competition and that he was having poor offseason practices and wasn't following the program Parcells laid out for them.

So I'm pretty sure they'll say that and unless he can prove otherwise what's going to happen?

About the drugs I'm not so sure about that. I've read they were allowed to give him a test because they had "reasonable cause" and that they weren't allowed and I heard both of those on ESPN. I don't know what the policy is but I imagine they thought about all that coming up if they released him and decided it was worth it.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Whatever reason they had there is certainly nobody else interested in Quincy so far.

Actually "cough" I will be going down to one of the practices to pickup his car (he already has it) and drive it back up here to get the chrome wheels put on it.

I don't seem to recall Parcells/Jones naming his ability as reasoning for cutting him. I don't think he's all that good but he'd make a good 3rd stringer. But if you've failed multiple drug tests...that's not cause enough?

It is against the CBA to release a player because of a failed drug test. That is why the union is fighting for Carter, they feel that the Cowboys released him because of the drug test and not because of talent....

Jones had to know about the CBA agreement and decided it would be worth whatever the cost to rid the team of a blight. :thumbdown

Christ Mortenson was just on Monday Night Countdown, and he expressed that the Cowboys check "insufficient skills" when releasing Carter. In the NFL you must specify the reason for the release. So I would guess that would be the reason they're challenging it. Tough to go from #1 on the depth chart to being released with insufficient skills.
 
Sounds like the Cowboys said as little as possible which IMO should help Quincy in getting another job. If all the reasons should surface, it could cause more harm than good in getting on another team. I would use this time to clean up my act and become the poster child for rehabilitation. I think Quincy is a good quarterback with potential to be successful on another team, but he isn't good enough that most teams would be willing to take on any extra baggage.

Mort mentioned that the Titans were interested in him as possible a 3rd string QB behind McNair and Volek, and something about the Chargers being interested also. Not sure if its genuine interest on the Chargers part, or just an attempt to speed discussions along with Rivers. I'm sure all 32 teams are already aware of the failed drug tests, or else they were completely obvlivious to every media outlet in the nation. Extra baggage comes with lots of players in the NFL, but I'd think the higher the risk a guy is the more it is reflected in his salary. Take two QBs of equal ability and potential, and if one has a higher risk than the other then he'll probably get a lower pay in case the risk doesn't pay off. I'm sure he'll latch on somewhere, but perhaps not till after camps.

OK, does ANYONE other than me find this to be insanity. Most jobs won't even hire you for a failed drug test. Or you will definitely be FIRED if you fail one while employed by most company's. If you get injured on the job the first thing they do is a ............drug test.

Yet for some reason NFL players are not allowed to be fired for a failed drug test? idonno:
 
I too think it is silly. But then again we don't have a CBA (or a Union for that matter)at my job. So I guess this is another case of hating the game and not the player.
 
Somebody mentioned the Chargers being interested. That might be where QC ends up. I didn't consider the Titans but that might be a real good spot for him with McNair there to mentor him and all.

It seems like every single year the Chargers have massive problems signing their top guy!

It's got to be the organization that is the problem with the Chargers.

It's a beautiful city and I would think would be attractive as far as living there, etc.

I remember years ago reading that at one time Bob Hope owned a piece of the Chargers. And the Cleveland Indians too I think!
