cornerback?

everyone should agree that faggins just isnt a starting CB. those 2 bombs by losman to evans still haunts me. now, if we had landry, they probably wouldnt have gone for TD's, but may have still been completions for big yards.

if we do pick landry, what do we look for in a CB? landry is everything a safety should be, and is great as a last line of defense. the only knock scouts have is that he isnt a huge playmaker. should we look for a playmaker in a CB, who takes gambles? landry would be behind him to make up for his mistakes. or would you rather have a CB who does well in coverage but wont rack up INT's? also must take into consideration of our pass rush...or lack thereof. QB's will have lots of time to throw, which puts the CB who likes to gamble at a greater disadvantage.

id also like to give Dunta a partner who contrasts his skillset. Dunta would rather cover big receivers who arent so quick and elusive, despite his small stature.

i think a good example would be aaron ross, tarrell brown, and michael griffin. ross takes alot of chances, brown doesnt. what impact did griffin have on the pass defense? just something to take in consideration.

If we got Landry, I'd like a CB that can just cover/stay on the receiver. Don't let them get wide open...get a hand up in his face...bat the ball down/pop it up.

I don't want a big risk taker...only if we had a d-line that was awesome..but thats a few years away. INT's will come if you just play your man solid. You may not get them but teammates will and that's what matters... the qb will try and force more throws which in turn will be either off or get deflected...both will be easy INT's with out taking much risk.

suggestions on a CB? im thinking brown, irons, or wilson in the 3rd. all are better in man coverage than off and are physical and willing in run support. with dunta and either of those CB's sticking to their man, it would allow landry to make more plays and roam around more. landry and irons would make a pretty good combo, 2 SEC DB's from teams known for defense.

Well, Laron supposed to be so good it shouldn't matter who the nunmber two corner is. J/K kinda. Saw that the Ruetgers Kids both posted sub 4.4's at their pro day. Bottom line, there shouldn't be any excuse not to fill that need come draft day. The draft is loaded with tallent. Second round, third round...they should be able to find an athlete who'll put Pettie back at nickle.
