Clinton Portis rumore may be true

Another reason why we don't want him. Immature personality and a big mouth=TO wannabe. All that with a huge price tag too. Nah, I'll pass.

oh god, give it up, if we dont start takin chances on guys that call out team mates once or twice how do we expect to win, i don't care what a player does off the field, as long as it gets us a super bowl

The most im willing to give up for Portis is a 2nd rd pick...

I would offer a 3rd either they trade him or they don't.

Hou-Tex, I think you may need to listen to the clip. The Texans need more players that play with heart. We could even use a thug or two ask Mike Nolan (49ers coach). It's Kubiak's job to control them, the good coaches can control the thugs.

Im listening to the interview now, and all he is doing is being honest and saying that nobody likes to step up to the plate except for certain guys and answering the questions that he is being asked...he isnt going off the wall and making all sorts of wierd statements

christ. Seriously.

Ok the guy calls out a bad season after the decision to start him in the preseason and he injures his shoulder. the team didn't do much after signing some big name free agents (once again proof like the yankees that a bunch of big name talents isn't nearly important as CHEMISTRY. Keep trying Dan to buy that superbowl.)

I wouldn't mind seeing a guy in the lockerroom that has fire to him and isn't afraid to say what's on his mind footballwise sometimes. There a difference between calling your team out and being a cancer like TO.

I am afraid that some fans on this board calls for leadership is somewhat riding the fence. You don't want anyone to rock the boat but you want a team leader. A good one knows when to do both.

Here's my thoughts. Portis is tradable because of the RB situation. Betts got resigned and I didn't see anything of TJ Duckett this year really and i wonder what that's about. I really thought he waa Gibbs sort of guy being able to pound the ball Riggins style. I am not sure about the Qb situation behind Jason Campbell and Mark Brunell. So yeah i am going to say it. Carr and our early third for Portis. People talk about Al Davis and his ego...why doesn't Dan Synder get up there. He overpaid for Randle-El and Brandon Lloyd. He hasa pension for making splashes with big name free agents. Carr gets a restart behind at least a serviceable line in Washington and under the radar can develop into a serviceable second string QB if Cambell goes down.

I wouldn't mind giving some picks up for portis, he is an experienced back, knows the system, is a play maker, and adds some speed out of the backfield. Him Dayne Taylor and Williams would be LETHAL... I also think the addition would help out whoever our quarterback is. For a while Carr was having trouble (begining of hte season) because we had no rushing attack.

Whatever. Having a guy with some flare could give us some spark. The closest guy we have to that is D-Rob. I would give up a second for him, or Carr and a third (if we pick up Russell or Smith for QB).

I see where y'all are coming from, but I've just never been a fan of trading draft picks for questionable players if any at all. Now having said that, if it were to involve trading DC, it might be worth it.:) I'm just all about building through the draft. Or trading players for players. It's just my opinion.:shades:

Clinton Portis is not Mike Tyson. When was the last time Portis got arrested at some nightclub? he's only guilty of being a straight-shooter....

He's a crazy ole crossdressing guy. I like me some crazy ole guys for running back, but that's me. RB in the NFL is suicide job. Takes a nut to be good at it. Too bad it's 3 years later than I'd like but when you are Siberia you take what the Kremlin throws your way.

I think you throw the word "thug" around too loosely...

This is hardly the face of a thug. BTW, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He ran roughshod all over us earlier this season.

Portis is one heck of a long ways from a thug. He is more than just a bit eccentric though. Love his charicters.
