CJ Stroud year 2

This totally depends on how you feel about Stroud. I dont like the person or the player and think he's dumb as a box of rocks, so the quicker he plays the quicker you can move on from him. Picking Stroud makes me look at the Texans org like a future trainwreck after yr 3, rather than truly building for the future. Cal's an idiot if winning championships meant anything to him. It doesn't, he's chasing the money, nothing more or less.
Bump x 100

It could have been that you posted "I don't like the person or the player" in regards to Stroud 20 times.

No, I am not exaggerating.
Still doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed. I root for my hometown team. For my favorite team to be successful Stroud needs to be successful.

Still don't like the person and his choice of agent.

I said it before...Lance isnt the greatest source nor is he liked or respected by many media outlets that cover the Texans...there are several that have came flat out and have had a laugh at his expense of being "a reporter and Texans insider".
Idk him as a person and obviously not a colleague of his....so I dont know if he comes off as arrogant, argumentative, abrasive, rash, or what the deal is...but people dont like him and he's been WAY OFF on some of his "insider stories".
Not really

He got the 2022 draft correct for the Texans. I'm fairly certain LZ wasn't making things up.

True, expectations should be that Stroud is as good or better than Purdy. After all, Slowik had a big hand in helping develop Purdy. Since Stroud supposedly is more talented than Purdy, expecting less is lowered expectations. Unfortunately if Stroud fails, it will be all Slowik's fault. Even though Slowik has proven he can develop QB's like Purdy. No excuses

Not at all,

I expect Ryans, Caserio to put weapons around Stroud next off-season that will be comparable to the 49ers and what they have around Purdy. They're already off to a good start with Collins and Dell. Add Nabers and Sanders who are comparable to Aiyuk and Kittle and you're off and running. Of course there's not another McCaffrey out there, but guys like Shipley and McClellan can run good pass routes and are good in pass pro as well as catching the ball. Plus you won't have to use a high draft pick to get them.

The future is bright. Ryans and Slowik know what they're doing and Caserio is on the same page with them. This is what I've been hoping for since the teams inception. Everybody on the same page.
Are things changing down on kirby?

You know going back to May to bump a comment is very petty and vindicative. Have you never changed your mind after circumstances have changed?
I guess he wants a true apology from him for calling the young man stupid/dumb. Especially when it wasn’t warranted.

Good luck with that, tell me how many guys with Strouds background have reached the heights you're referring too?

I guess he could always become the first, but I don't like betting on outliers. Best we can hope for is Moon without the choking in playoff games and the wife beating. SMH

He should've already signed his contract and been spending time with his family. I guess you cant see the hypocrisy of claiming family and Christ is everything to him and then spending time with a bunch of Hollywood elites/rappers. I think we've seen this movie before down on Kirby.

One of the ESPN shows, Orlovsky was talking to another "analyst" & he said Cj's favorite receiver is the open receiver.

I'm sure he's got tendencies, but it's going to be hard figuring them out.
That's right.
His tendency is to find the open receiver.
How are you going to game plan for that?

In college, I had seen a couple of teams (playing against Mahomes) rush 3 and kept 8 to defend.
It worked to a certain extent.
But it's hard to do that often in the NFL.
Teams will run right down your throat.

Which is why they need to get the run/screen game going... & it looks like they are heading in the right direction.

That in itself is very petty and childish being as in he never called him stupid/dumb
yea he did,

post 3105, “I dont like the person or the player and think he's dumb as a box of rocks“

Its pretty clear he gave Stroud zero chance, called him dumb and didn’t like him as a person.

Having said that, to your point it doesn’t warrant jacking a thread…..plus I’m too lazy….

You're reading out of context... keep going

Just watching Justin Fields last night. Almost every drop back, I was thinking to myself... Throw the ball already. Justin hesitates and is allergic to anticipation throws. Has to see it to throw it. You combine that with the slow separation of hands to release of the ball and I have a really hard time seeing him be successful long term.

CJ has spoiled us, and its made me reflect on Deshaun.

For all the spectacular Deshaun plays. He hurt the Texans just as much as he made us drop our jaws in disbelief.

He had 62,44,49 sacks in his 3 full seasons as a Texans player. His stats were there, but think of all the stalled drives due to taking sacks. Thats 52 a season on average(on pace for 68 sacks this year).

Patrick Mahomes- 25 sacks a year
Josh Allen- 23 sacks a year
Tom Brady- 29 sacks a year
Aaron Rodgers- 33 a year(did not win much in his career despite being superbly talented)
Peyton Manning- 20 sacks a year

If you are going to constantly be taking negative plays, you have to be a special thrower of the ball in order to make up for getting behind the chains(Looking at you Aaron Rodgers).

CJ's last two games, show that he can be a 20-30 sack guy a year, but he also possesses the ability to be productive on got to have it passing situations(he is the best in the NFL this year).

What we are seeing is special.

I’m kind of enjoying the take your medicine bumps deja is posting. Steel went to the DJT school of wild claims and no contrition. Make bizarre wild claims. Then never admit your wrong. Just adjust the blame point, then move the goal posts.

So now it’s wait for three years. When that’s not an issue, it will be he hasn’t yet won a SB. Once he wins a SB, it will be ya but if he was really good, he’d win multiple. It will never end. Give up folks. Steel is a good guy, and an OG of this board, but he is who he is and leopards don’t change their spots.

I’m at least happy that we have a rainbow of viewpoints and personalities here. It keeps it fun and engaging. Do we all agree that if we all agreed, it would be as boring and dull as watching grass grow? Can I get an amen on that? This isn’t rocket science. While I enjoyed the burn this morning and steel probably deserved the burn, I am ready to turn the page.

I get it. SBT vitriol was sooo over the top for such an extended period of time. It would seem that the retraction should have the same energy, not a simple "oopsie, let's move on".
But what do I know, I'm just a waterboy eating my popcorn

I'm with you. But people are people.

But you know what you're dealing with... he's told us who he is. Keep that in mind when interacting with him.

meh....everybody makes predictions, and most predictions are wrong. Some folks don't like admitting they're wrong, and adjust "facts" accordingly. The only thing that really matters is whether or not the Texans finally get their sh!t together, not who predicted what. I don't care who you are, if you predict enough stuff, some of it will happen, most won't.

I predicted Richardson would be the best of the rookie QBs this year, so far that's wrong. I predicted Texans with 5-7 wins this season, that's looking (so far) to be wrong as well. Here's another prediction, I'm going to IHOP this morning. That one won't be wrong.
