CJ Stroud year 2

I'm leaving my lifelong cynicism a the door with this kid. He's everything and more than even the most optimistic Texans fan could have hoped and wished for at this point.

Not only do I want to drink the Kool-Aid, I want to replace the world's oceans with it become a pirate captain on the Kool-Aid seas. lol :pirate:

It's fun being a Texans fan again. I'm actually looking forward to Texans games for the first time in many years.

Like I alluded to in another post, every aspect of this team feels competent.
And that's a feeling I haven't had about every part of the team since Kubiak.

The coaching, the schemes, the players, it all feels like top level professional football to me.

All of Houston right now:

Watching the Vikings/Panthers game right now. Not at all impressed with where Young is in his development. He's throwing a ton of short passes and his longer balls are wobbly and not very accurate. I wonder if the larger NFL ball is affecting him.
Regardless, CJ is showing much superior arm talent, arm strength. accuracy, and anticipation. Young might break the S2 company all by himself.

I'm on a mission to make Florio and Simms eat their clown shoes after this stupid take.

If you want to join me: floriomj@aol.com :pirate:

It's all in the spirit of fun, of course. That said, I'll take Brady-play over highlight-hero any day.
That did remind me though that Chris Simms did have Stroud as his QB1 in his draft rankings.

Also I don't really disagree with what they're saying. Richardson will be a highlight reel of those "wow" moments. That said I along with most others would love as they describe the Brady/Burrow consistency of picking apart a team pass after pass.

CJ is hitting them with those wow moments as well.

Wow what a throw to Nico Collins.

Wow did y’all see that throw to Tank Dell.

Young man has put the entire league on notice.

Sure as hell beats our last QB and his massage Mondays. Who am I kidding, the guy probably thought hump day was.. well hump day 😆

Current QB:
Mahi-Mahi Monday
Taco Tuesday
Waldorf Salad Wednesday
Tenderloin Thursday
Fettuccini Friday

Last QB:
Metacarpal Monday
Testes Tuesday
Wash towel Wednesday
Tensor Fasciae Thursday
Free fap Friday

PS: I have been on this board for 7 years, and my board classification is Noob???
Just because one does not serial post, It does not mean one is not lurking in the shadows.

As a colts fan I agree. Stroud's play style is set up better for long term success due to his mastery of the pocket and knowing where to go with the football. He will be that Brady/manning type talent. Richardson while he does make wow plays has to become a better passer to be successful long term or he will be out of the league early like Luck. As for Young not sure what Frank Reich is doing over there. Hopefully he turns it around. If not panthers may be drafting williams or maye next year

Panthers owe their 1st rd pick to Chicago so no shot at either of those guys

I know, which is what surprised me that he's downplaying what Stroud is showing in four games. Simms acts like he's some QB savant, but then fails to support it with his takes. It was late at night when I posted that, so I'll readily admit I was drunk on media Kool Aid from all the positive vibes about Stroud. I just expected a deeper perspective from Simms instead of slobbering over AR.

I don't disagree about Richardson, but he's a highlight reel. He'll get injured out of the NFL before he can realize his potential. Defenses are already comprehending how to play running QBs. He's already getting hurt in 4 games. It's just a matter of time before the NFL takes its toll on that style of play. There's a reason why passing QBs last longer in the NFL.

With Richardson concussions are going to play a big role in his career. He runs high and tries to take on tacklers...he'll learn, but in the meantime injuries are gonna stack up

The Bears have the Panthers pick.

I like Richardson as well. He reminds me a lot of Josh Allen, I just fear for him. Where Allen almost goes rogue and tries to run people over and I'm like, "No! Slide! Save yourself!" it seems like part of the strategy to have Richardson run people over and that makes me fear for his longevity.

I think we'll see some regression with Stroud as teams get more film on him and pick up on his tendencies. It'll be up to Slo to make different play calls when that starts to happen.
The best thing that could happen for Stroud (and the offense) is to get the running game going. And that should improve with starters returning on the O-line and having some stability. The Texans got help from the run game last week (despite a 3.7 ypc average) and that helped setup play action and slowed the pass rush just enough. Stroud's raw numbers likely won't sustain (300+ ypg) but his efficiency could.
