CJ Stroud year 2

Hey simply just sharing the fact that the 100% money 4 year 36.2 million contract is up front legally signed. Nothing more nothing less but for CJ it's lots of money behind him and now onto 100% playing football. We don't have to worry about such money no? This ain't college.
With that kind of money if it were mine I would also like to have it be done with to resolve such distraction.
If football contracts were guaranteed like baseball contracts I'd structure my contract to get paid like Bobby Bonilla just to make sure I have monies to the end of my days! LOL

I’m curious, is getting paid most of your salary in the first year really the smart move tax wise? When every year is millions it may really not matter much . And if your a savvy investor you may want it earlier even if you loose a bit.

The first time he gets lost in Houston traffic looking for a restaurant his S2 score will be cited.
Oh crap! That's my problem in Houston traffic? I don't even know how to spell S2. I always thought restaurants were hiding because they liked others better. Same with empty parking spaces; I drive past and then a car pulls out. S2 I'll be..
Maybe me and JC can hang out, compare checkings accounts, go to restaurants together..

Anthony Ríchardson signed shortly after Stroud.
That's the best "argument" for Stroud not signing that's rarely brought up. They want to point to Young, which has nothing to do with Stroud.

Stroud waiting for Richardson makes sense.

LMAO. Reports are Anthony Richardson also got his signing bonus upfront. Looks like going forward, that will be the price of drafting a QB in the top five.
Last year Jacksonville did the same for Travon Walker. Soon enough, it won't matter what the position is.

That's not what's happening. The signing bonus is 10% ish of total compensation.

Right, that’s where the “I don’t know” & “I don’t understand” language fits in.

The money stuff is just me reacting to recent articles suggesting the delay was about bonus payments. Sounds like we’re on the same page. What’s being said doesn’t make sense.

& that’s where I throw the Mulugheta-Conspiracy in so steelBTexans doesn’t look like a sore thumb
:tinfoil:
What a kind hearted person you are!

Can I hit you up for $20?

Exactly. If Mulugeta didn't try to get the bonus as a lump sum and the same as Stroud, a case can be made that he didn't do a good job negotiating for his client. At the end of the day, there was no impact if Stroud signed on 6/23 with Anderson or on 07/24.

I'm certain that Mulugeta is well aware of what his previous client did to the Texans and their fans. I doubt he would want his new client to start off on the wrong foot with the Texans and their fans.
Yeah, Mulugheta has years to get on wrong foot..

He signed and will report and begin practicing on time just like everybody else, so..

Well...

So for those who might be wondering -

Stroud gets 100% of his $23.8 signing bonus paid almost immediately.

Anderson gets $19.2 signing bones with 85% paid almost immediately. The other 15% gets paid on October 15th.
I am interested in what investments their agents have for them. Are they on a budget? I'm guessing at least one high balance credit /debit card say $500 per day cash withdrawal; $5,000 per day purchases as is mine.

Here’s Richardsons contract.

Richardson has signed his guaranteed four-year rookie contract that includes $33.99 million fully guaranteed, 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports. It includes a fifth-year club option. Richardson's contract also includes a $21,722 million signing.
Now darn it, why didn’t he sign before Young or Stroud. Lol

Yet most lottery winners take as much as they can get upfront. 🤔
I wonder if they ask what the previous winner did? As with N F. L. Draft, I understand lottery winners often wait to the last minute to claim their money..

I'm with Lucky. Once Young signed, it was only a matter of time before the other dominoes fell. I'm not sure why this concept is hard to grasp.

In any event, the long offseason is at an end. Thank God. Players report today, so starting tomorrow we can trade barbs about things happening on the field.

Like the hat the coaches wear or why Casserio is wearing a fur coat in the summer.

Willful ignorance so they can continue to criticize a player they don’t like.
I'm not criticizing Stroud, never have. If we were going to draft a QB with the #2 pick, I wanted it to be Stroud.

We're changing "our perception" to fit the narrative. #1 does not have to sign before the others. Will Anderson signed before all of them. Travon Walker got the same bonus treatment as Trevor Lawrence.

These contracts are slotted, position mean nothing.

QB's are a different breed. The position does mean something. Until the first domino falls with QB's, the others will sit and wait. There may be an exception here and there, but generally when you have QB's drafted so closely together that high in the draft, man drafted highest goes first and then on down the list.

Exactly. It makes me wonder that if Mulugeta wasn't Stroud's agent, would there be such concerns or debates about signing a contract before TC even starts.

If Stroud becomes what the majority of posters expects him to be, this forum is going to go crazy when it's time for his second contract. Between the 15% QB threshold and the contract being negotiated by Mulugeta, this forum is going to be nuts. I guess we have four years to prepare.

For some strange reason they truly think he was behind that Watson bull crap. So any high profiled player who hires that particular agent and plays for this team. Will always be scrutinized and looked at sideways by those particular members.

If Mulugeta was not his agent there would have been no doubt in my mind that he would sign before TC. I'm still concerned about Mulagheta

Like Steven Nelson.
