In Ryan Mallett's first NFL start, he threw a touchdown pass to a defensive lineman and handed the ball off so many times that a rookie sixth-round draft pick and injury replacement set a franchise record for carries.

The Houston Texans' latest victory was anything but conventional, but it was enough to help them gain ground in the AFC South race.

Houston's next test comes Sunday against AFC North-leading Cincinnati, which hopes Andy Dalton can build off a solid performance and help the Bengals end a five-game skid against the Texans.

Mallett took over for struggling starter Ryan Fitzpatrick as coach Bill O'Brien sought a new direction for the offense. After throwing four passes as Tom Brady's backup over his first three seasons in the league, Mallett went 20 for 30 for 211 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in last week's 23-7 win at Cleveland.

What I want to see:

  • Run the rock! Cincy is near the bottom at run defense, so running right at them is a must.
  • Deep ball defense tight. Dalton loves going up to Mr. Green, so our safeties will have to be on their best behavior.
  • Loosen up the Bengals pass D. Early down shot plays and being aggressive is something that needs to be explored today.
  • Pressure Dalton into mistakes. Continue to make this a "House of Horrors" for the Bengals and Andy Dalton.

Time to string together some Ws. Welcome back to NRG, Bengals. It's time to get to work, and make that move to being a FACTOR in the AFC Playoff race. So, I have a proposition for y'all: Get this win, move to 6-5, get over .500, and make a little bit of a statement here at home. Sound about right? Thought you'd agree. Let's do what we do, fam; win a big game vs. Cincinnati. Do work, H-Town; LET'S MUTHA****IN' GO, TEXANS!!!

Let's do what we did in January 2012 and January 2013. Preferably 2012. But whatever.

Take care of the ball and beat some Bengal ass.

Fact: In Tom Brady's second career start, he threw for 86 yards and 0 TDs.

So I forbid anyone to freak out about Mallet's performance if it isn't good.

Unless it's good.

Then we can freak out. :kitten:

Just win baby!!

The little man woke up early an asked if it was time for the game yet. I told him they don't play football at 530am and to go back to sleep. At 8 years old it's already in his blood. It's going to be a good day !!

Good luck again today everyone !!

Just iced down the beer and about to head out to the lot. Pretty cool playing for a winning record still, with Tenn and Jax next.

Wish I was in Houston for this one. This is a big game for our season. Anything other than a win is unacceptable.

HAHA! Great story, love it!

Go Texans! I expect Clowney to have a big game. Our defense should get after Dalton early and often. Watt and Clowney are going to be some bad men with bad intentions!

A couple months ago there was a big fundraiser for my little 6 year old cousin who has cancer. At the live auction I picked up a JJ Watt authentic jersey and 2 tickets to today's game for $1,200.00. Little did I know just how great those tickets were going to be. #HammerTime

On our way to NRG now!!! Go Texans!!!

Oh how sweet it is... enjoy the game bro and I hope your good deed is rewarded with a huge win!

GO TEXANS!

It's 10:30am gameday. I want to join the blue crew for their tailgate. How and where do I get a tailgate pass to get in to the stadium?

Sitting in Section 135 row DD, roof open, beautiful day, my son and I, watching JJ Watt practicing sideline catches..... What a great day.

Per sources here at NRG, Clowney got his period this morning and will be limited. Wonder what CND says about how playing with a pad or tampon will affect his game today.

Today's list from HT.com

HOUSTON
RB Arian Foster
CB Kareem Jackson
QB Tom Savage
WR DeVier Posey
S Josh Aubrey
LB Max Bullough
T Jeff Adams
Cue the whining about deactivating Posey. I have to admit that I wonder why this guy is still on the team. O'Brien won't play him. Is it Rick Smith not wanting to cut his own draft pick?

I doubt that. I think it is a sign that OB has some high expectations for Posey... and he is probably trying to quicken some growth/maturity in some area. Otherwise, Posey would've been cut long ago.

Dan Fouts is already at it.

Mallett looked a little nervous in pregame, I thought.

Damn it, should be a 1st down, and is.........

Clowney still doesn't look explosive to me. Hopefully he's getting stronger and healing every week. Maybe he's still thinking too much?

Clowney's speed off the line is amazing. If he could figure out his pass rush moves instead of just bull rushing all the time he could be dominant.

Good stop by the D on that drive.
