The Texans have flubbed so many drafts it is now sinking them.............it is unfathomable what they gave away to get Babin who is just bad and that they never have upgraded the OL via the draft...........TWade was a tremendous waste of money, McKinney is not worth a 7th rounder, and Seth Wand was a huge reach.............I never thought much of Carr but he is not getting a chance with that OL.............I think Carr is now going to be wearing Joey Harrington's tag............I heard John McClain yesterday and he he thinks the drafting of CC and Capers will cost them their jobs soon............John thinks the Texans are done this yr................Cant say i am surprised but i think the Texans have to call a game toprotect Carr soon...............AJ is not a threat because everytime he runs a 10 yd pattern Carr is under duress.....................

:brickwall Hindsight is always 20/20 , but we have passed on alot of good players . The fall of Charlie Casserly in DC was trading up to get Desmond Howard . Sound familar ?

And he picked 8 of the starting defensive players on the last Redskins Super Bowl team, according to Richard Justice on SR610 this morning. Justice went on to say that he was pretty sure Casserly picked Schlereth as well. Casserly is not as bad as y'all like to make out. He could have drafted Clinton Portis and our coaching stff would not have developed him into the Clinton Portis you see today. Drafting is only the first step. Athletically, there's not much separating these players when they come out of college. What separates the wheat from the chaff are things like 4.3 speed versus 4.45 (.15 second, think about it), a height of 6'2" versus 5'11", etc. Physically, there's not a ton of difference. It's the mental aspects and how quickly they learn things that determine their success in the NFL. There's really no solid way to measure that, which is why you see players coming out of nowhere and doing well. Many of the later round draft picks would probably do well if given the chance, but for various reasons, they seldom are given that shot.

Do the Texans have another player or two even in contention? Chester Pitts? Possibly. Antwan Peek? Perhaps.

Thinking that Peek and Pitts are top 5 is absolutely ludicrous. Peek has produced 1 sack and pretty much no hurries in what has been almost entirely single coverage by the opposing Tackle and TE. Pitts is a solid starter at best.

Capers showed his players statistics from last season's 0-2 start. He told them there was a "blueprint" for saving this season."

It's that get-out-of-jail-free card that people like Capers use to save their jobs each year.

Forget turning it around when you're down 0-2. You get no pat on the back from me for that.

How about just starting 2-0, Dom? Seems it would be easier on everyone.

But, hey...a little duck tape and some bailing wire should patch us up and we'll be right back on the winning track, eh?

The same old routine of doing just enough is wearing me thin.

What would be your break down on the percentage of pass plays Peek has been tasked to drop into coverage or just hold the flat vs. actually rush the passer?

Pitts is an above average starter with crud around him, IMO.

While on the one hand a coach has to come up with something positive to say for the fans, this one struck me as hollow as well.

Last year when we were 0-2 Carr had thrown for 542 yds and the issue was clearly not a lack of offense but one of turnovers with Carr having thrown 3 INT's and DD having fumbled 4 times. This year Carr has thrown for 237 yds plus we have the same turnover ratio of -6. Last year we could say, stop making mistakes and we have a chance and we did and won. This year it is hope our QB can actually revert, hope the team gets any O going and stop making mistakes. We may win the next 14 games, but there is no reason to predict it at this point.

You guys are such pessimists. It's only 2 games into the season, and while they have not looked good at all, they are still making changes and looking for ways to turn it around. You never know!! We've seen crazier turnarounds in Houston (remember a 1-4 team winning 11 in a row to make it 12-4? )

I am surprised, though, that all the experts around here have had such a tough time finding a job with an NFL team.

I really don't see Justice as anything more than another good board poster around here. we have & share alot of good ideas on this mesage board (thanks Vinny) for those who follow the draft and offseason moves he is flat out right, "they've made too many personnel mistakes?"

I'm glad we have a GM that listens to input from his coaching staff about players. It would seem to be the right thing to do-get the players that the coaches think they need to win. It does seem like he does whatever it takes to get the deals done to please his coaches though. Maybe our coaching staff/scouting dept really have weak player evaluation skills. If Fangio and Hoke are responsible for Babin and Buchanon then maybe they should be the next limbs to be chopped off.

Well, when you step into Betherd's shoes and Joe Gibbs has just won his 3rd superbowl, you really don't have the authority to go against his wishes. That situation was simply a matter of circumstance.

Regarding the Shuler draft, Casserly has since acknowledged that he made a mistake and regretted allowing Norv to push him into that one. I'm hopeful that we haven't been watching that go on again with picks like Babin last year. But, you're certainly right to at least be concerned about it.

Pendry may not be the guy you want standing next to you at the office Christmas party. He's so blunt you'd be afraid to ask him to freshen your eggnog. But he may be the perfect fit for the NFL's most confused offense.

Pendry will make Carr better. Carr found that out Tuesday when Pendry approached him at least a dozen times with instruction after plays.

this is exactly what Carr needs. Someone to TEACH him how to be an NFL QB, obviously Palmer has failed completely in this area, IMHO. I for one am beginning to get some optimistic feelings back already.

Accountability should be the word for the reaminder of the season. You can not improve unless you set expectations. If those expectations are not met then you address. Four years of historical data is enough to make your case for the contract you command or desire - players, staff, front office.

He doesn't think either of them is top 5 right now. He merely mentioned that they are the only two other draftees that have ANY potential of being top 5 quality players. I think Pitts will be a Pro Bowler when he gets a new coaching staff and better linemates (I think I made up a word!).

I want Casserly gone more than anyone for his wasting of picks, but I wanted to ask something to be fair. How many other teams have drafted more than 2 "top 5 players" or "top ten players" at their position in the last 4 years? We have had more draft picks and higher draft picks than most teams, but to think we should have a boatload of upper echelon players from rounds 2 through 4 of the draft is kind of unrealistic. Even if you look through draft results from the last 4 years it's tough to cherry pick in hindsight guys that are that good that met needs at the time. AJ and Dunta are right up there with the top end talent from other peoples drafts. The real problem is drafting guys to reasonably fill out an NFL roster or "third tier" players even. Hell, Babin and Wand wouldn't find a job anywhere most likely. Same for Hollings. Ragone and Joppru aren't helping b/c of injury and being a backup QB. So I'd say we've done alright getting really good players, we've just wasted so many picks on absolute garbage, instead of finding merely middle of the road NFL players. For more true difference makers (top 10 players) you gotta grab some of these guys in free agency, which we haven't done at all. 4 seasons and Todd Wade? is our best free agent aquisition.
