[CHRONIC] Smith signing means Texans might lean toward OLB in draft

Has anybody thought that since DE may not be on our top list of priorities in the 1st, that perhaps a RB is not out of the question anymore? I kind of have to keep telling myself that Kubes isn't wanting a RB in round 1.

I actually like this. I have wanted LB from Day 1...not a D-lineman. LZ also mentioned some interesting things this morning. They can still take a pass rushing specialists but they don't have to waste a 1st on him and can take a flyer later. ALSO, there may be interest in a WR/KR like the guy from Missou.

I think Conner Barwin is going to be really special. He's smart,athletic, big, and fast. He's a ex-te so he understands the passing game and drops. He can also rush the passer if bush wants to zone blitz with 5 man pressures. He's creeping into late 1st rd and one of those teams at the top, might want to get back into the 1st rd or one of those late teams might want to get up a little when the qb's fall.

Hey Froggy - I tuned into 1560 right about 8 this morning to catch LZs remarks about the Texans weekend moves in FA, and all I'm hearing is them talk to Allison Footer about the Astros ? When did LZ talk Texans football this morning ?

Hey Froggy - I tuned into 1560 right about 8 this morning to catch LZs remarks about the Texans weekend moves in FA, and all I'm hearing is them talk to Allison Footer about the Astros ? When did LZ talk Texans football this morning ?

He talked about all the moves around 7:30-7:45. Basically what he said was that he understands why people think Smith is another Weaver but that they play different positions really and that Smith will be a 2 down guy and then move inside on 3rd downs. He mentioned the Texans maybe looking at LB now in the 1st or maybe WR/KR...but not Sanchez, like some are saying. He mentioned that he likes Orlovsky and a 4th better than Sage because he showed some decent stuff, is younger..big guy (6'5 230) and pretty much Sage was gone after this year so it really wouldn't have mattered. He thinks if you get into Sage or Orlovsky time for a long period during a season than the season isn't going well anyways. He also mentioned getting a situational pass rusher later in the draft.

Yeah they are 7-11..they do replay stuff before that. I didn't like them as much on 610 but I like them alot now because they are letting LZ do alot more commentating on the NFL and the Texans without holding back. And he makes alot of sense when it comes to football.

I dunno if you listen to 1560s Draft show at 5-6 PM every Thursday leading up to next months Draft ? LZ & John Harris (of the Sean & John afternoon show) is also featured and he is very knowledgeable on college talent coming into the Draft. They also have a guest every week from one of the Draft websites
who have been excellent so far. They are going to 2 hours in the next couple weeks. I would highly recommend the show, it's outstanding IMO.
