Why? I have been a fan of the NFL since I was 10 (1963), followed the old Houston Oilers and since 2002 the Texans. I love NFL Football.

But the decision of the NFL to start playing games where I can't watch them is about to make me give up the NFL.

Why are they doing this? I live in Kentucky and the only way to see the Texans are to see them in Indy and Nashville, which I do OFTEN. Otherwise I need TV to watch them. Now the NFL is taking that away.

I am a veteran of over 20 years and 2 wars, in my 70's and the NFL is a lifelong great hobby for me. I guess I just don't mean anything to the NFL.

Sir, you are correct ; you are not important to them any more than I am. Even if you were a season ticket owner you have minimal value to the NFL which deals with hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising.

They could care less about us lifers, gotta chase the almighty dollar. Just get a trial version of Netflix and cancel it after the game......

Doesn't bother me only because my wife watches Netflix and they have my money AT LEAST until 2025 when I get the conclusion of Cobra Kai. Probably longer since my wife enjoys some of the other shows.

As to why, probably cause Netflix is, as I understand it the only streaming service that is making a profit out of all of them. I've heard they plan on moving away from originals and taking on live events Tyson fight, NFL etc.

The NFL and it’s owners care about one thing and one thing only and it isn’t fans. . Hint - it’s little pieces of green paper with images of former Presidents on them. That’s it. That’s only it. The sooner we all come to grips with it, the better.

This is probably an especially unpopular opinion here but...: really? what a bunch of silly whining. They sell their product to high bidding broadcast companies. Nothing new. Some people have Netflix but don't pay for a service that includes ESPN. It is schedule release day. If you are that bitter, why engage in May about a schedule release event? Seems silly... Let the hopeful fans enjoy the moment before they become jaded and bitter.

You are right it is just a bunch of silly whining. I'm 70 ish, bad eyesight that makes looking at a small screen difficult if not impossible.
Have enjoyed the NFL for over 60+ years and your right they have always sold to the highest bidder. So I guess I must accept life and just hope they do not take it entirely away from normal broadcast TV. I do Love Monday Night Football!

https://network24.biz/ Trust me, I have this here in Houston and at my condo in Playa del Carmen Mexico. $50 a year for 1 TV, $80 for two TV's. It is insane! dropped an almost $300 cable bill to less than $5 a month. YOU GET EVERYTHING!

Or you could let fans talk about what the f**k they want to and go on about your business. It's a damn discussion board where things are discussed, good or bad.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the topic at hand, as most have mentioned, the NFL, or any sports league for that matter, doesn't give a rat's ass about fans. Money is the ONLY thing that matters. Wait, I take that back. Sports owners do care about fans ... when it comes to building them a billion dollar palace that a large majority of those fans, as well as non-fans, can't afford to even enter. But we the sheeple keep giving them our undying attention, affection, time, and money. Until that changes, they won't. And it won't change because all a team has to do is design a new uniform and start weighing the Benjamins. $16 beers are ridiculous as I stand in line and order 2.

Thank you for your service to our country! With that said, surely you can make a one time payment of $15.49! Watch the game then cancel your subscription. It is not like a boxing event or UFC event or a WWE Special where you pay a lot more to watch sports. I am curious though, how are you watching all the Texans games on TV without NFL Sunday ticket? That is way more expensive to watch! I know money is tight and I understand your pain. I can't watch every Texans game because I can't afford Sunday Ticket but as for the X-Mas game, I can pay roughly $16.00 for that one event. If you can't afford the cost that isn't fair but unfortunately I think there will be plenty more games in coming seasons like the X-Mas game. That seems to be par for the course these days! Just watch what you can and write to the NFL to let them know how you feel. I hate that I will miss several Texans games but that is the way things are at this time! Sorry you will miss some games. Enjoy the ones you can watch!

I can only watch those games on network TV. So when a primetime game like Christmas comes on I think the NFL is robbing their fan base by making it basically, a pay for view.
With that said, That's life and I guess to watch I will have to subscribe for 1 day so I can watch those two games. Small price to pay.
I do go watch them when they come into the area. Had three last year (Cinn., Tenn., and Indy) and was lucky to see all. That doesn't happen too often. First time I have been able to see a game in person for a few years.
Hope to be able to go to Tenn. game this coming season if it is not to cold. For a couple of years that did keep me from going. Indy always seems to cost too much, but I bought my tickets last year when Indy was 2-5 and tanking. Paid 138.00 for three tickets and a parking pass. Week of the game was offered 100.00 each and 50 for pass. Turn them down. Saw the game with my son and grandson (His first Texans game). WHAT A GAME!
Also, before some of you say I should have taken the money. The Texans needed a win and in all the years I have been going to Cinn, Tenn, and Indy, If I am at the game, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM LOSE!
That's right! They have never lost a game with me in the stands. Starting in 2011 with the win at Cinn that gave us our first Division, to wins in 2015/2017/2023 then at Indy in 2016/2019 That gave us the Division lead late in the season to last year and our 23-19 win and wins in Tenn 2012/2014/2015/2021/2023.
Starting to have issues with mobility so I hope I have a few games left before I have to stop but that is why I hope they do not take the NFL off network TV.

Do you use a computer? There are plenty of free streaming sites usually

I don't really get the uproar about the Netflix games, or the Amazon or any other streaming service games.

The model we've all known for decades now is still the root of the watching-from-home experience. It's for the longest time been - and still essentially is - a game or two broadcast on a major network at noon. Then a game or two broadcast on a major network at 3:30. Then a primetime game on a major network on Sunday night and a primetime game on a major network on Monday night. All the while - and still is - your local team's are always available on a local broadcast irrespective of what day/time slot they're in for that week.

Of course Thursday night was added after awhile and people just ended up hating those games so whatever to them anyway. And now we've got these new Christmas games. But at the end of the day the original model of easily accessible and - mostly - free games on Sunday and Monday are still in working order. Nothing's actually been taken away. The league just made new deals with new services and added further options to watch. Options - netflix, amazon, etc - that for millions of people are already in their homes.

At the end of the day the decades old way of watching the league is still intact on any given Sunday/Monday.

And they rig some games to get the outcomes they want.

3 Chiefs SB's and not 1 holding penalty was called on the Chiefs.

I can get you unlimited live TV games/tv/movies for $20 a month. If you are interested PM me so you can see all the games. Thank you for your service BTW!

Looks like Netflix hasn't decided on a broadcasting crew for their games yet. I'm not sure if I want them to make a deal with the established networks to bring in familiar guys, or to bring in new announcers all together.

I had it and then I didn't. I didn't escort it out the front door and kick it in the buttocks. It didn't escape out my patio sliding door. A burglar didn't get it. No pets to eat it and I don't think one of the squirrels that I feed took it to their nest.

I hate the games on streaming services. Hate isn’t strong enough of a word. But here’s what I don’t understand. The OP has no issue spending good money to see games in person, but is all upset about needing to pay a far far smaller amount for Netflix? He didn’t mention Amazon Prime.

Also he keeps talking about watching them on free TV, but how do you do that living in Kentucky? Not sure if he just means regional games because I can’t see how he’s getting all the games on free TV.

Lastly, as someone who works for a global media company and in the broadcast industry, I’d exercise caution with those illegal streams, for a number of reasons. You do you and all that, but there’s a lot of issues…beyond the fact they are blatantly illegal.

Worst case if you can't watch live, you can always watch the full game a day or two later

It was the way you said it, your post came off rude and disrespectful......oh an you said he was bitter. To a veteran and loyal Texans Fan none the less. Stay classy!

I don't see it as silly whining at all, they are making it harder to watch the games, but as long as the money the get back is worth it right? Seems like they should care a little more about their everyday fans.

But for someone who lives outside the local market - ie, that guy - that game, like many others, might not have been available to him at all before.. but now it is.

I live out of state and can’t afford Sunday Ticket this year. I don’t mind watching the games a few days later. Where can I find them?

TIA

I use NFL+ premium and they have condensed games that are just the plays and the all 22 for $99 a year for all the games.

I didn't reply to any person but to about 6 or 7 similar posts and received a ridiculously harsh response from Speedy. Something similar happened with another long time poster on another thread today... I see threads derailed by personal vendettas all the time and it is frustrating (and sad) because it isn't easy finding a community of Texan fans where I live (Austin). I'm disappointed but I am not the type of fan that this board is looking for, or trying to cater to. It is going to be a great run the next few years... I hope everyone enjoys it!

Playing the victim after you were mean spirited toward the op, a vet and senior who should be respected. I didn’t say anything earlier, but now you are the one whining because a few people called you out. You yourself pointed out this will be an unpopular opinion. If you are going to dish it out, you have to grow thicker skin and take some incoming flak. It comes with the territory, especially in an online forum. I hope you stick around, and if you do…grow some thicker skin. Most of us old timers have had multiple torpedos lobbed in our direction.

Did need not mean to start a firestorm!
I do not get upset at anyone's comments. I served so that they have the right to express them.

My only point, I do not get to see the Texans unless I can go to the game (Indy, Cinn, Tenn.) or unless they are on Free TV and the region I am in has it as their game of the week.

So my opinion is, NFL - Primetime games and Playoff games should be so everyone can see them on TV deals you have made to be on network or cable TV not on a streaming service that not everyone has or force them to get it. You put the game on PRIMETIME for a reason!

Now with that said, my children have wanted to get me a "Smart TV" for years so I can hook up internet to it and Stream. It has been my choice not to. To fancy for me. I guess I will have to get into the modern era and break down. I hate not watching NFL football when its on and I do miss Thursday night Football since it went streaming.

GO TEXANS!

Torpedoes? The entire submarine ran over me. LOL

No doubt lol. It comes with the Territory, especially if you express an unpopular or outside the box opinion. I don’t take anything personally unless it’s like a literal threat, which has never happened. I have met a few of the folks from TT and all have been wonderful in person.

Thank you so much for your service sir! My Dad was a Korean War vet. I have all the respect in the world for our vets.

I have one piece of advice. Let your kids get you that smart TV. It will make your remaining time on this spinning globe more enjoyable for you, especially since your health is such that you be be in front of a screen more. Let them show you how to use it. I promise it’s not that hard. Best wishes!

The only poster I have met in person was Southwest Texan and years ago so I am a little bit cautious! LOL 🤣😂

My son bought me a 42-in Samsung last year. It was more difficult than I thought to allow him to bless me.

Not that I am stubborn or anything.

I think you interviewed my ex-girlfriend Gaby years ago. It was around Greenspoint if I remember. She didn’t get the job. She got another one soon after. I don’t blame you for not hiring her, although I will say she is a very hard worker.

I was not sure you remembered so wasn't going to mention it. She did quite well in the interview but we just had a better candidate. IIRC, she was my next choice.

We appreciated the opportunity! She’s actually a very hard worker. Unfortunately we separated in 2017.

Thanks for posting and make sure you come back in the regular season. There are a lot of guys here that are wizards at finding Texans games for free in out of town markets. We needs your eyes on the team all the way through the Super Bowl victory.
