Chris Kelsay won't give up No. 90 to Mario Williams

Eat it, Mario.

Eat it cold and with no fork.

Big thumbs up to Mr. Kelsay for standing his ground and making it clear the number is not for sale. Too bad, though, because Mario uses twitter now and I can imagine the sort of things he'll say on twitter now...oh wait, that's only for the hated Texans and not for the new love his life (the Bills). My bad.

Kelsay shouldnt give up his number. Kelsay is just as good a player as Mario anyway.

**** you, Mario. **** you in your dirty cornhole.

WELLLLL!! He just might get someone to do just that! IF the Bills signs the wayward VY!!:fingergun: ( I thought of all kind of comebacks, but, I'll be nice to all you VY jock lovers!! ):dancer:

Oh, I knew full well Kelsay approached Mario.

Which makes it even better. Kelsay took command and nipped it in the bud, which makes it so much sweeter. He didn't wait to be asked, he made sure Mario knew what was what. I love it.

Rather than descend into this, why not get some good press for both guys and the organization? Instead, in exchange for giving up the jersey number, how about buying a family that is in dire straits a home? A $200-$300k house for Mario is chump change and Kelsey can kick in say an additional $10k for food/electricity, etc. How great a story would it be that two buffalo bills are reaching to the community to help the less fortunate?

Maybe the Bills organization can even contribute to help a second family. It be a drop in the bucket expense wise but it would garner a lot of positive press and good community relations. Plus, it be a really good thing to do.

200-300k house? Daayum sun. I think you can buy multiple "faimlies in need" a house for that money.

He could get just as much positive pub for buying kids xmas gifts for 20K.

Mario is too busy buying cop cars to help out with speed tax income for the gov't to help out families in need. :fingergun:

like others have said, too much mario butthurt around here. get over it. if you had the option to earn ~20% more than you were being offered at your current job, you'd probably make the change as well.

also, this is a non-issue. mario's not making a stink as far as I can tell, so who cares?

Instead, in exchange for giving up the jersey number, how about paying the salary of a QB, Vince Young, who is in dire straits for a home? A $200-$300k socially disabled and pass challenged QB for Mario is chump change and Kelsey can kick in say an additional $10k for VY's medication and psychology appointments, etc. How great a story would it be that two buffalo bills are reaching to the unemployed QB community to help the less fortunate players?

Maybe the Bills organization can even contribute to help a second player, such as Reggie Bush? It would be a drop in the bucket expense wise but it would garner a lot of positive press and good community relations. Plus, it be a really good thing to do for two top draft choices who were major busts.

Fixed it for ya'....

Meh. It's posted in the NFL forum, it's news, and he used to be here and he was a jerk on his way out. I think it's fun to jab back the guy.

Had he not been a twerp on his way out, I wouldn't be here doing this schtick right now. But he was a jerk and so I will be a jerk back. Yeah, doesn't solve anything, but it's fun to play the game.

Seriously. Just goes to show that one fanbase is no better than another.

I love how these types of threads bring out the superior "holier than thou" crowd.

Geez, it's just fun. We're bored as hell...nothing left to talk about except draft grades and speculating about our QB. It's. Just. For. Fun.

Don't suck the fun out of everything.

See, if Mario had actually said or done anything for which to poke at him regarding this story, I'd be fine with it. As it is, you're just manufacturing stuff wholecloth. Using the same quote as posted upthread, but with a different emphasis:

"I spoke with Mario. I actually brought it up to him, he didn't bring it up to me. He completely understood," Kelsay said. "I've worn it my entire career here. A lot of times in a situation like this, the guy will buy it from you. But I'm not really interested in that."

There's no story here. Nothing for which to poke at him, nothing to be upset with him about, and nothing to suggest that he's a bad guy. The entirety of Mario's involvement in this story is that he completely understood.

But hey, off-season .... have fun.

I suppose this is pointed at me and some others for saying get over it. but really, i'm not sucking the fun out of anything. this thread wasn't fun at all. it was childish and pointless. mario's not gonna read it, and he didn't do anything to deserve that type of reaction; no matter what he did or didn't accomplish on the field.

you can say it was just for fun, but mostly you just come off as jilted and super sour about something that he did or didn't do, and it's making this forum much less fun for people like me to read.

ps: please don't tell me to ignore posters or skip threads like this. I like to read what people have to write even if their views don't mesh with mine. this thread just doesn't fit that criteria. it's petty and pointless to act like that.

Seems like everyone on this site hates Mario now, but a lot of the same folks argued on and on about how important he was for us and what a dominant player he was on this team, and how we had to have him back. He signs somewhere else, and he is talked about like he is a bum. I find that to be pretty funny.

Sorry, but I never liked Mario much to begin with and always called him overrated. Seems a bit fraud to read this garbage from people who repped the guy over and over and bashed other posters who criticized his play up until the minute they heard he wasn't going to re-sign here. A bunch of flip flopping fans.

It is funny , no reason to be bitter . Man got a better paying job, and that's probably what 90 % of the posters on here would do if they found one too. Get off his back ! I still love me some Mario !!!!!

Just not when he's playing my Texans!TOE
Texans over everything

..... MSR. Seems like thats the usual.

Damn , now I gotta get myself a jersey with this on it , maybe not , some of you might shoot at me.

Anyone who can't take someone else's opinion should not be on the board. You got a Lil annoying with the neg rep , but I wouldn't shoot you for it..... Now kick your ass is a different story....... lol J/k

I have never been a Mario guy. He was an average to above average DE, but he was never as good as billed or hyped. Bush hasn't exactly lit the NFL on fire, but he has helped his teams win more games than Mario helped the Texans win. Geez, even Vince helped his team win more games in his first year than Mario has his entire career. That being said, Vince has **** the bed ever since that first year pretty much but still has made more plays than Mario in that one year than Mario has his entire year.

Mario is an athlete that happens to play football. He doesn't love the game and is a piss poor competitor and piss poor professional. **** you Mario.

When he chose Buffalo over New England it told me all I needed to know about Mario and frankly confirmed everything I had suspected about him.

He was a Texan then, he's playing for somebody else now... Times change. I wouldn't call it hate. He's just a guy on a team we have to play this season.

The NFL, i.e. the professionals, disagrees with your assessment.

The logic used in this post is just wrong, period. BUT, I don't think we've ever agreed on much so all is good

looks like someone is upset:aggressive:

When he chose Buffalo over New England it told me all I needed to know about Mario...

Oh come on now. We all know the only number Mario cares about is on his contract.

yep.

I do not have any animosity toward the player. I'm apathetic and indifferent about him.

That being said, he's not the second-coming of Bruce Smith, and the haters will be rejoicing when Bills fans realize this and turn on him as a result.

Mario will probably not care because he's been paid. Then he will have fun stuff to say about that little corner of paradise they call Buffalo.

With a two year 'no injury clause' guaranteed contract on top of that. Mario's agent did a damn fine job for him I think. In regard of the money, isn't that what ALL the players are there for.

I'm not throwing rocks at Mario and hope he does well but I think his injury record precedes him. Will be an interesting season. Can't wait till they come to Reliant. I'm not a season ticket holder so I prolly won't be able to be there as I see those tickets upselling big time!

I posted what I posted because I don't like the way Mario ragged on the Texans, and on fellow Texans fans. I sort of get angry like that, and I don't forget it. I didn't forget it when Carr did it when he landed in Carolina and talked trash on us. I didn't care for it when Dunta did it. I didn't care for it when Mario did it. DeMeco, on the other hand, played very nice and I applauded him for going out on a good note with us Texans fans. Haven't heard Brisiel saying negative stuff about us, either. Even Winston was measuring his words. These guys were a part of us, but you get a sense of just how "with us" they were by their actions and words when they leave us.

As to why I think this IS a news story, and why I am entitled to have MY opinion on it, read below (that is, unless I am still ruining your message board experience):

Kelsay approached Mario because he knew Mario, at some point, was going to ask about #90. It's what players like Mario do when they re-locate--They ask for the number and they buy it off it's current owner. Especially the league's richest player, Mario Williams. So Kelsay got out in front of it and told Mario there's now way he would vacate the #90.

Do I enjoy that? Hell yes I enjoy it. Take your lecturing and go find someone who cares. And to any of the mods, I don't go pick fights with fellow members but when they pick a fight with me, I don't go crawling under a rock and hiding from it.

Do you want to discuss the topic or do you want to lecture me some more?

You know why Mario understood? Because a REAL leader, Kelsay, showed Mario he wasn't going to bow down to him. Plus, what is Mario going to do...tweet bad stuff about his new teammate in Buffalo? No, he only tweets stuff when he leaves the team and doesn't have to live with them anymore.

Mario is a tough talker when he knows he won't have to pay for his shenanigans. He's smart enough to know which group he can rag on and which group he better play nice with.

I'm actually glad that a player stood up for himself and didn't sell out to the new kid on the block. That IS a news story, IMO, because usually the big man on campus gets his way when he shows up and starts requesting his jersey number. It's how it historically goes down...except THIS time, and I l-o-v-e it. LOVE it.

he still doesn't have a number

looking at their roster
numbers 90-99 are taken

number 50-59 are taken except
53 and 54

including Mario, they have 20 players without numbers right now(5 are DE/LB)

http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster.html

with that said, I don't know when the last update was done on their page
they are showing 98 players on their roster
on a side note I also didn't know they had Mark Anderson either

I imagine money talks if Mario really wanted that jersey number

daaaaamn GP, you are mad bro. neg rep for being a sensitive sally lol? also, i'm not a loser :(. but c'mon man, don't get your feelings hurt so easily.

as for the topic at hand, this is a non-story, which is why it was pointless in the first place.

oh well, offseason plus hot equals ornery people, myself included. apologize for de-railing this thread.

LOL man ... you are WAY out there on a lot of stuff. You have fun with that, though. Go get your psych degree or something, so you can really have fun with it.
