Chris Henry in later rounds?

you know how the Texans like to take players that have potential in later rounds.

Wide Receiver
Chris Henry
College: West Virginia
Year: Junior
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 195
Birthday: May 17, 1983

Chris Henry is so shy that he does not grant interviews, but hype has surrounded him nonetheless. How could a tall, lanky wideout with freakish speed come to Randy Moss’ home state and hope to avoid comparisons? Henry seems to have held up under that pressure: last year he averaged a ridiculous 24.5 yards per catch. Moss’ highest average for a season while at Marshall was 21.9 in 1996, and that was against Division I-AA competition.

Henry had to sit out his first year at West Virginia since he failed to meet all of the NCAA’s academic standards for freshman eligibility. The next season, he did not play in the season opener and made only three catches in the next two games, but all were for touchdowns and two of those were each over 30 yards. Henry posted over 100 receiving yards in four games and over 200 in one.

Henry has the wheels of a deep threat and the height and leaping ability of a possession receiver. His gamebreaking athletic ability is apparent, but he is still raw and needs to become more consistent. Henry could also stand to add some muscle to his lean frame in order to better withstand the rigors of the longer NFL season.

Henry will be eligible to enter the draft in 2005 but could wait until as late as 2007 if he makes sufficient academic progress. He could be an impact player when he does turn pro, especially for a team like the Texans that likes receivers who can stretch the field.

I don't think Henry would last past the 3rd round, and if we're looking for a project type receiver I wouldn't be opposed to picking him up there if Vincent Jackson is already gone. I just love Jackson's size and speed combination, but he might need a little more work since he hasn't faced the same level of competition as Henry.

Coming into the offseason I thought that he might be the 3rd receiver taken in the draft, if he lasts to the 3rd, I defeinitely say take him.
