Let's just say you're going to start a new team but you have to choose one of these 5 back ups as your starter.

Who would you choose?

I would have added Kyle Orton to the list, and that's who I'd pick. I didn't think he did anything to deserve the exit he got out of Chicago, and then he fell victim to Tebow mania in Denver. If I HAVE to pick a back up, I'm taking Orton.

Kirk Cousins is a close second, mostly due to the upside.

I'm sorry for not playing by your rules. :)

there are so many good backups in the league its not even funny

Oaklands Payor

Ryan Mallet in NE

matt more in MIA

Chad henne ...u seen when he torched us

Fitzpatriack in TEnn

Pryor is like 3rd string and terrible. Mallet hasn't shown me anything other than he can overthrow receivers. Matt Moore looked terrible last night. Chad Henne should be the starter in JAX, though he should just be a solid backup in the NFL.

I think the NFL backup QB spot is weak in terms of vets. Guys like Orton and Henne are the exceptions. Actually, the AFC South may be in the best position regarding backups (though maybe the weakest in starting QBs). The good news is that there is an infusion of young QBs coming out of college with NFL ready skills. They will soon replace these stiff vet backups who are hanging on by their dentures.

Edit: Just checked and saw that Pryor is the backup in Oakland. Thought Tyler Wilson would have passed him up, but Wilson has been horrible in camp. That's how sad it is for the Raiders, who are the overwhelming favorite for the #1 pick in the 2014 draft. They're so bad, they deserve the first 3 picks.

Of those choices, I picked Keenum, but there are plenty of other backups I'd choose first, if given that choice.

last preseason game vs. the Saints was the first time I saw him in action

he was putrid

If he's your starter this season, that's good news though because that means Terry Bridgewater is your starter next season.

I'd have to choose Kirk Cousins but i'm an MSU fan boy.

Given the options in front of me i'd have to choose between Keenum and Stanton.

Chase Daniels is pretty good. (Saints)

Can't believe you left VY in GB off the list lol
