Chiefs engaging in trade talks for OLB Justin Houston

Justin Houston could be on the move.

The Kansas City Chiefs have engaged in trade talks involving their former All-Pro outside linebacker, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Teams have been calling with real interest in acquiring Houston, Rapoport added. And with a $21.1 million cap hit, the Chiefs are likely motivated to swap him as they're expected to place the franchise tag on Dee Ford.

I'd call Houston a Clowney comparable but JD is like 4 years younger than the Chiefs backer so if Houston is drawing some interest no doubt Brian Gaine is getting some phone calls.

Houston is a much better pass rusher, but I'm sure Gaine will get more calls this year unless he decides not to tag Clowney

No one is trading for that contract ($15 mil salary for 2019) for a 30 year old edge rusher. Any team that wants Houston will just wait until he's cut.

Didn't know that. I thought Houston had close to 20... but that was before Dee Ford. Houston and Khalil Mack were considered among top duo

He had 22 5 seasons ago. 9.5 is his high mark the last 4. He had one fantastic season. Other than that his high is 11.

Hell, Mario Williams topped 11 four times.

Wouldn't pay Houston on this high dollar contract especially when his own team that desperately needs to improve their defense won't.

Wouldn't pay Mario either. He's good, but not good enough to pay him what some other teams likely will.

To many of these guys at that position seem to produce a lot less after signing those huge contracts.

Definitely similar players, although I think I like Clowney more than Mario for sure. Didn't think Mario was ever worth the big money and I don't for Clowned either. Good player, but just not max contract players.
