Chase Minnifield-CB

What do you guys know or think about Chase Minnifield-CB from Virginia? I know they're only highlight videos but I like what I see of him on YouTube. He's got good size, good speed, a little skinny, very quick with good reaction speed, and leaping ability and he's considered a low 1st round pick. I know I've agreed with the idea of allowing our current CB's to learn and mature but if we lose Allen to FA then there will be a need for some high quality talent at this critical position, not some mid-low round roster fodder, we've got enough of that already. Also if we re-sign Mario there won't be money to buy a quality CB in FA. I like to look at the upcoming draft from different perspectives to better learn about our upcoming options. So what do you guys think of Minnifield as a possible 1st round pick for the Texans?

That would be chasing after Jason Allen replacement or giving up on Kareem. If you could sell me on him beating out Kareem day one then maybe? From watching him compete he is a solid CB prospect but not elite talent for position.

If he plays like his father, we need to trade up for him!

On a side note, seeing the sons of all the players from the 70s and 80s play football now really makes me feel old.

To some extent it would be chasing Allens replacement but it's not an indicator of giving up on KJ. It's simply adding talent to a portion of the team that could use it. He's not going to replace KJ from day 1, no rookie would be able to do that but he may start at nickle if we lose Allen. I think Minnifield is raw but I see in him alot of potential, he's got the basic skill and seems to have the toughness for the NFL.

mussop might take issue with that whole absolute thing.

describe for me your idea of raw, potential & basic skill set? Those descriptions make me uncomfortable on a first round pick, still trying to define Kareem Jackson.

I predict He will be the Browns second round pick at number 37. They need a #2 CB, and his dad played for them years ago. I don't think the Texans will have a chance to get him unless they trade back from 26. He also could go to the 49ers or Pats at the end of the 1st.
